Chapter 91
CHARLOTTE’S POV
ね
“I’m a mess, Ace. I have no idea who I am or where I come from.” I said it honestly, though I didn’t want to also add that I still didn’t fully trust him. He was hiding too many things from me, I could feel it and Dad’s words kept echoing in my head, telling me there was more to Ace than I was allowing myself to see. I didn’t want to hurt myself or Liam by ignoring the truth. How was he married to Moon, the woman who tried to kill me? I wasn’t completely sure before, but after seeing the tattoo on her finger had made something inside me settle into a terrible kind of certainty.
He got off the bed and lifted me into his arms without warning. “I want to take you somewhere,” he said, smoothly changing the topic. I was grateful he did. He carried me into the bathroom and set me gently down on the floor.
“Take your shower,” he said, but he didn’t leave. He stayed there watching me.
“Do you mind closing the door?” I murmured.
“I don’t mind watching. You got me high this morning and my beast hasn’t calmed down yet.” My eyes drifted down on their own, and I saw that he was still hard, straining against his sweatpants like it was trying to force its way out. He caught me looking and let out a low growl before walking to the door and closing it behind him.
About an hour later, we were both ready. I didn’t have any extra clothes, so I wore my dress again since it had been dry cleaned. He must have asked someone to take care of it while I was sleeping.
We got into his Lamborghini and he drove off.
“I hope we are not going too far? I really have to go home today.” He threw me a quick look and smiled but didn’t reply.
I turned my attention to the pack as he drove. I asked questions when we passed certain places, and he answered them with a soft, patient smile. The way he talked about his people, his pack, his eyes softened when he mentioned the pack children and warriors, showing how deeply he cared for them. I could see the love he had for his pack in the way he spoke with quier pride.
He drove us to a quiet area that felt unusually peaceful. The surroundings slowly changed as we moved forward. Tall wines began to appear on both sides of the road, across wide fields of grape plants that spread out like a vineyard. The air feit cooler there, softer somehow, and the place carried an odd familiarity that settled deep inside me even though I was sure I had never been to his pack before,
We parked near the entrance and got into a small cart waiting there. Ace drove it slowly along the narrow path leaching to the cottage. The vineyard was all over us, clusters of grapes hanging on the vines like small dark jewels under the sunligh
I was certain I had never visited this place before, but the more I looked around, the more it teh hike somewhere I bekungeni, a home. Inside was cozy and neat, with a large old sofa covered with soft–looking fabric and a small fireplace as co volit Sunlight came in through the windows, making the whole place feel more peaceful. I had the sushless unge to curl up on that sofa and sleep for hours.
Ace took my hand and led me to the back of the cottage where a picnic had been set under a big tree. The weather was ch perfect for a picnic. A white cloth covered the ground with simple food arranged neatly on it. I had always wand no go on a picnic with someone someday, and it felt like Ace was slowly filling that wish I had always wanted for a long time
He planted a soft kiss on my lips as we settled on the ground, his lingers gently is king a strand of hair behind my fav When he pulled away, I noticed the distant look in his eyes and it made a small knot of worry tighten side my stomach
