Moon had asked that her parents be moved into one of the houses in the High Circle area after we got married. I initially refused because that place was only meant for men who truly mattered in the pack. It was not a regular residential area. It was reserved for elders, top warriors, and those who had earned their place through loyalty and years of service. Moon’s father had done nothing to deserve a space there. Besides, they already had their own mansion. Why move into High Circle and live in two places at once?
But my father insisted, he reminded me that the man was now my father–in–law and that they had been friends for years. According to him, it was the right thing to do. Around that time, one of the elders had just passed away, and his house became vacant. After a long argument and pressure from the council, I gave in and allowed them to move into that house.
When Brandon told me they found Ashfang poison inside a house in the High Circle estate, my first reaction was disbelief. That poison was banned decades ago. It was deadly to wolves and almost impossible to get without strong underground connections. I immediately asked him to carry out further investigation. I needed to be sure it wasn’t planted there by someone trying to set them up. I refused to act on incomplete information.
Hours later, after cross–checking everything and questioning the guards, we ended up back here in my office with Moon’s father on his knees and more evidence laid out on my desk. This time, there was no room for doubt.
“Ace, what are you doing? Why are your men treating me this way!” he yelled loudly, his face red with anger. “I demand to be released immediately.”
I picked up the Ashfang bottle sitting on my desk and examined it slowly. The bottle was only half used, the other half was probably what was used at the festival.
“I will tell them to let you go once you tell me how you came to have this poison,” I said calmly though I wasn’t.
Charlotte’s voice echoed in my memory as I remembered her explaining to Damien and Gavin back at my penthouse how dangerous the Ashfang Draught was and how difficult it was to obtain. It was rare, expensive, and usually traded through illegal channels.
“I have no idea how that bottle got into my house,” Moon’s father said quickly. “Why would I keep an Ashfang Draught in my house? That thing is deadly.”
I nodded slowly. “Yes, it is,” I said. “Which is why it surprises me that someone like you would try to put it in my drunk during the festival.”
His eyes widened. “I did not do such a thing, Alpha. Why would I want to harm my son–in–law
“The same question I asked myself,” I said. “Why would someone want me dead Or maybe it was because I doing your daughter and you want some sort of stupid revenge.”
The door suddenly burst open. Moon walked in with my father behind her. Ace, what the hell are you doing? Get my taber off his knees, now!” she screamed.
My wolf stirred at the disrespect. A deep, warning growl ripped from my chest, stangersnesly ham, the d has made the t inside the office feel thick. “You raise your voice at me one more time or try to commande, Isantilly, and I will there you sent to the cage”
That shut her up immediately. She stepped back slightly and moved to stand besube my father, why do you have iny friend on the ground my father said. “Even if you found the Ashtang poison in his house, that is not rough reason is real him with this kind of disrespect.”

Chapter 93
“This poison hasn’t been used for decades because of its deadly effect,” I said. “People who are given an overdose die almost instantly. The Ashfang Draught was banned in this pack and in many other packs around the world. Only very powerful witches are capable of recreating it and we don’t have any witches living around, unless they were far enough to find one.”
“The poison didn’t kill you or anyone, did it?” my father said immediately. “This is something we should take to the pack elders and handle properly, not treat a man like a criminal in his own house.”
His words hit me like a slap, anything to protect his friend.
“This poison was used on me during the festival,” I said. “I almost died if not for the early intervention of my warriors and my doctors.”
“But here you are, alive and well,” he snapped back. “Release him now.” My jaw ticked in fury.
Moon stood silently beside him, her eyes filled with anger like she believed I was the one being unreasonable.
“You are choosing his side over mine,” I said quietly, looking at my father. “You are standing here defending a man who might have tried to kill your son.”
“He is my friend,” my father replied without hesitation. “And Moon’s father is your father–in–law. Show some respect and release him immediately.”
My wolf stirred again, a deep rumbling growl vibrating in my chest at the disrespect flowing through the room.
“Son, I am talking to you,” my father hissed loudly. “And you are going to do exactly as I say.”
I walked closer to him until our faces were only a short distance apart. “Well, I am not going to let you dictate my life like you always did years ago. He will be tried, and if he is found guilty, he will pay for his actions. Do you understand me?” 1 made sure he could see the seriousness on my face.
I used to be afraid of my father. He forced me into things I never wanted to do, and when I refused, he punished me. The first time I truly stood against him, the elders and against the pack council was because of Roman. I fought for Roman as if t was fighting for my own life.
Roman’s case is one of the reasons many council members and elders still hate me. They believed the son of a traitor should have died along with his entire family. But I insisted he be spared. Things became worse when I pushed further and declared that he would become my beta because he was the former beta’s son. Till date, Roman doesn’t know that I’m aware his mother is still alive, although blind. I saved her too as well as her son but she may not remember that. I was was making the right decision at that time, and Roman had proven himself to me over the years until I trusted hum completely.
My father was still mumbling angrily behind me, but I was done listening.

I walked toward Moon’s father, who was still being held down, and grabbed his hair roughly, pulling his head ups. He is a painful yell as I forced him to face me.
“You’re going to fucking tell me how you got the poison and how you put it is my drink
“Alpha, I promise you, I didn’t..”

“Why did you poison me?” I asked

“Why don’t we check the camera? Moon said quickly. The wine was served from the kitchen area where the festival was hosted. The CCTV footage will show who actually poisoned you. Then you will see that it was not my father
Roman immediately called one of the security officers in charge of the surveillance system that night. Ten minutes later, he returned with the drive containing the footage.
They connected it to the television in my office, and we all watched in silence.
A woman in a pink dress and a baby face style mask walked into the kitchen. She looked around first, making sure no one was watching her. After finding my cup, she reached into a hidden strap around her thigh and pulled out the poison borde She opened it and dropped a few small amounts into my drink.
Then she turned slightly toward the camera, as if she knew it was there, strapped the poison back to her thigh, and walked out of the kitchen quietly,
“She had a mask on. How are we supposed to know who that is?” Damien asked.
“I’m sorry to say this,” Roman replied, turning to face me, “but I saw someone wearing this same pink dress at the pack house before we left for the festival. She was also wearing the same baby–face mask” Everyone turned to look at hus
