After One Night with the Alpha
Chapter 247
Elle’s POV
Eleanor Blair looked at me with those calculating eyes, and I could see she wasn’t impressed by my conditions in the slightest. She leaned back in her ornate chair, her fingers drumming against the armrest with an almost dismissive rhythm.
“You think those little conditions can free you from the family responsibilities you carry?” Her voice was cold, cutting. “You’re wrong, child.”
I stayed silent, holding my ground. The baby shifted slightly in my belly, as if sensing the tension in the room.
Eleanor’s eyes grew distant, almost prophetic. “Fate will make you understand how you’ll choose when faced with the changes in the world.” She paused, studying my face. “It’s coming soon–just a few days now. The Blair family’s influence will completely collapse three days from now. After that, there will be no Blair family voice left in this world.”
I frowned. What the hell is she talking about?
“But the day the Blair family rises again won’t be far off either,” Eleanor continued, her voice growing tired. She looked suddenly older, more fragile than I’d
ever seen her.
Her attitude shifted abruptly. “Fine, fine. Since it’s destined anyway, I won’t argue with you over these small matters. She waved her hand dismissively. You’ll beg us to restore the Blair surname to you.”
She said with finality. “Are you satisfied now?”
I didn’t trust her sudden capitulation. “Good. Where is Malcolm? I want to see him.“”
I needed to look this bastard in the eye. “He toyed with Susan’s feelings–does he really have no guilt? Susan terminated his child!”
Eleanor’s expression soured. “This is our ancestral shrine. Do you think a common human man is qualified to enter here?”
“Then I can wait for him outside. I won’t easily return to the Blair family until I get answers.”
Eleanor looked like she might have a stroke.
Seeing my determined expression, Eleanor knew I wouldn’t budge without a satisfactory answer, She waved her hand, signaling for someone to escort me to the back courtyard through a small gate.
When I entered the room, Malcolm was already waiting. I immediately understood this was Eleanor’s calculation. Grandma, you really are a master manipulator.
Surprisingly, I didn’t immediately demand answers about his betrayal. Instead, I sat down calmly at an antique table and poured myself tea, carefully protecting my belly. “Sit down. I just want to ask you a few questions.”
Malcolm sat nervously, not daring to meet my eyes.
‘When did you start targeting Susan?”

“When you went to college, he answered quietly. “I followed the old lady’s orders–spent several years establishing my background in the human community.
creating a work history before approaching Susan so it wouldn’t seem suspicious.”
I nodded. If Malcolm had suddenly appeared in the community without work experience, I probably would have been suspicious. But years of community
work made sense.
“So you’ve been watching me since college.” I rubbed my temples. “Should I say I’m honored to have been targeted so early?”
“Did you ever love her?” I asked, feeling ridiculous for questioning my mother’s boyfriend about his feelings.
“I did… he whispered.
I laughed bitterly. “Only ‘did,‘ though. But compared to the perfect life my grandma offered you, it wasn’t enough to make you give up your comfortable
existence, was it?”
Malcolm couldn’t bring himself to speak.
My voice turned sharp. “Susan’s pregnancy was deliberate on your part. Did you ever consider that Susan could die because of this?”
“No… no… I didn’t think about that,” he stammered.
“If I gave you a chance to take Susan and leave here completely… what would you do?”
Malcolm froze, unable to answer.
I took a deep breath, understanding everything. This man really isn’t worth Susan’s devotion.
I stood to leave. “You’d better disappear to somewhere I’ll never find you. Or I’ll kill you.”
After getting back, Eleanor walked me through the entire process, adding my name to the Blair family genealogy. When I saw her write “Elle Blair, my eye twitched involuntarily, but I suppressed my reaction.
Whatever. I know who I am–that’s what matters.
After completing the ceremony, Eleanor’s face showed a flash of fatigue, but she still reminded me: “You have three months.”
Three months until I gave birth.
“That’s three months away,” I said coolly, “Can I access the sanctuary now?‘
‘Of course. Though I think you should visit your parents first and hear their advice. Eleanor’s warning was clear. The Blair family sanctuary isn’t somewhere you can enter and leave at will.”
She fingered her prayer beads confidently. “I won’t pressure you for three months You’ll come back willingly on your own.”
“Is that so.” I turned to leave. ‘I hope we can cooperate pleasantly.”

The moment I stepped out, I felt like a weight had lifted, even knowing this burden was mine for life.
Martin and Stella Blair watched me with worried expressions.
I shook my head reassuringly. “I’m fine.”
No matter how terrible Eleanor is, Martin and Stella are truly innocent. How heartbroken they must have been, holding what they thought was a corpse all those
years ago.
Martin patted my shoulder. ‘Elle, come with me.”
In a small adjacent courtyard where refreshments awaited us, Martin sighed deeply. “Elle, do you know what the sanctuary really is?”
I shook my head.
“The so–called Blair family sanctuary is actually a secret research facility.” Martin explained.
“The Blair family has three treasures: texts, potions, and rituals. Our ancient knowledge is far richer than you can imagine.” Martin’s voice grew reverent. “We have not only thousands of years of ancient wisdom but also collected countless alchemy and witchcraft texts from civilizations worldwide–including ancient knowledge that was destroyed before werewolf rule. The Blair family preserved it all.”
I was completely stunned. “My God.”
