After One Night with the Alpha
Chapter 263
Elle’s POV
I watched in stunned silence as Brad exercised his Alpha authority, clearing the entire restaurant of customers before summoning the Rave chef to take over the kitchen. Within minutes, the staff had replaced every tablecloth, piece of silverware, and napkin in our section
Brad peeled a large shrimp and placed it in front of me, his amber eyes flickering with unexpected tenderness.
My resolve wavered. What happened to our fight? What happened to the cold war? Should I eat this damn shrimp or not? This morning he was st holding
Skylar!
When Roy reached for another shrimp, Brad immediately smacked his chopsticks away.
“This is Elle’s,” Brad declared without hesitation, his Alpha presence filling the space. “She only likes Russian Magadan deep–sea prawns.”
Roy stared at him accusingly, but Brad didn’t even spare him a glance. Classic Alpha possessiveness.
Lester sighed deeply. “Roy, you’ll get used to it. As long as it’s something Elle likes to eat, don’t expect to get a single bite.”
I wanted to crawl under the table.
Finally, I gave in. “Fine, I’ll eat it. I’m actually kind of hungry anyway, and pregnancy requires nutrition”
Brad watched me eat the shrimp he’d peeled, unable to suppress the smile spreading across his features.
Roy and Lester exchanged a look and shook their heads in unison.
The four of us settled into a surprisingly comfortable dinner rhythm.
Roy and Lester no longer treated me like an outsider. They discussed the most confidential pack alliance matters right in front of me.
I didn’t ask questions, just focused on eating while they chatted.
When dinner ended, I tried to call a cab back to Sophia’s temporary residence, but Brad insisted on driving me himself.
We stood by the restaurant entrance, locked in a stubborn standoff.
“I can get home just fine,” I said firmly.
‘I’m driving you,” Brad replied with equal determination.
“Fine, I conceded. He’s an Alpha anyway. He can basically do whatever he wants in Moonshade Bay, and it’s probably safer than me traveling alone as a human.
In the car, I sat in the passenger seat watching Brad drive at a leisurely pace. Neither of us spoke.
What am I supposed to say? I thought, staring at the dashboard. Isn’t this atmosphere incredibly weird? We had a massive fight last time! Suddenly making up doesn’t feel strange at all? And this morning he was still parading around with Skylar right in front of me. What’s there to talk about now?
I leaned back in my seat, letting my mind wander.

Suddenly, Brad executed a perfect drift and braked smoothly. I snapped back to attention.
I found myself on a small hill. The view was breathtaking.
Brad opened the convertible top and pulled a thick blanket from the back seat, draping it over my shoulders.
From this vantage point, Moonshade Bay spread out below us like a living map. The werewolf residential areas blazed with brillian communities showed only sparse illumination. Car lights flowed like colorful ribbons through the streets.

The night air was cold, but the blanket was warm and thick. I could see my breath forming small clouds in the frigid air. In the distance, occasional howls echoed from various packs.
We sat in continued silence, both of us unsure how to break the awkward tension.
Then just like that, Brad drove me to Sophia’s place.
At half past eleven, Sophia finally returned to her temporary residence. She immediately threw herself into my arms, burying her face in my neck.
I groggily patted her shoulder, feeling moisture against my skin. “What’s wrong? What happened?“)
Sophia shook her head and crawled into my bed, wrapping her arms around my belly without answering. She just held my stomach gently.
I struggled to sit up and turn on the light. Seeing that she was still wearing full makeup, I scolded, “Go wash your face first. Sleeping in makeup will ruin
your skin.”
Sophia obediently went to remove her makeup and shower, then returned to curl
up in my bed again.
“Seriously, don’t you have anything to tell me?” I pressed. “What happened?”
Sophia pressed her face against my belly, listening. “Elle,” she said softly, “if someday I can’t find a suitable mate, if someday you and Brad have to separate, could we take care of each other? I could help you raise your child. We could raise him together.”
I stared at her, stunned.
Sophia finally sat up, and I could see her eyes were red and swollen from crying.
I ran into Lester on my way back,” she explained, wiping residual tears from her cheeks. “He cornered me and said he’s deci objects, he’s willing to give up his Alpha inheritance to be with me.”
I raised an eyebrow. “What did you tell him?”
Sophia shook her head. ‘I said no. Even if he gives up his Alpha status for me, I won’t go with him.”
I smiled slightly. That sounded exactly like Sophia.

“But then, Sophia continued, her voice breaking, “he looked at me with those golden wolf eyes and said, ‘Sophia, I never thought you could be this heartless. Do I need to rip out my heart and show it to you before you’ll believe me? If that’s what it takes, I’ll let you tear it out with your own hands! No matter what excuses you use to reject me, I’ll never give up on you.”
Sophia began crying again. “Then he called his father right in front of me, put it on speaker so I could hear everything. He told his father he was no longer a member of Frostclaw Pack, no longer Lester Harrison, no longer the Alpha heir. After hanging up, he just… walked away.“.

Tears streamed down her face. “Elle, what should I do?*
I sighed, amazed by Lester’s determination. To abandon everything for the sake of a supposed mate bond seemed both romantic and reckles
But I was also worried that Frostclaw Pack would blame Sophia.
I realized my own situation with Brad was just as messy.
We looked at each other helplessly. Both of us drowning problems
neither could solve.
