Chapter 265
Elle’s POV
My body felt heavy with exhaustion – we’d both been up most of the night, with Sophia crying her heart out over the whole Lester situation had sobbed until her eyes were practically swollen shut.
Blinking away the remnants of sleep, I fumbled around the bed for my phone, trying not to disturb Sophia, who was curled up ne cub. She’d finally fallen asleep around four in the morning, clutching one of the throw pillows like a lifeline.

My phone buzzed with a new message, and I squinted at the screen. Roy’s name flashed back at me, along with a text that made me do a double–take: Interested in playing producer? My entertainment company’s new project, I’ll teach you everything,.”
I couldn’t help but snort with laughter. Here we were, having just officially become friends yesterday, and he was already hitting me up with business propositions. The guy had some serious balls.
I typed back: “You just not afraid I’ll mess it up for you? I’m seven months pregnant, dude.”
My phone rang just as I was trying to figure out why Roy seemed so damn excited about this whole producer thing. I glanced at Sophia – still dead to the world – and padded out to the balcony so I wouldn’t wake her.
“Hello?” I answered, settling into one of the wicker chairs overlooking the bay.
“Hey! So, you actually thinking about giving this producer thing a shot?” Roy’s voice was warm and enthusiastic. “I mean, I know you’re not exactly an entertainment industry insider, but look, I know you haven’t been sleeping well lately. Yesterday morning when I saw you, you had dark circles under your eyes that could rival a panda’s. I’m not gonna pry into whatever’s been going on with you, but I figure you could use some fun, you know?”
Roy continued before I could respond.
“My crew’s full of young people. They’re energetic as hell, always laughing and causing trouble. When you’re surrounded by that kind of chaos, it’s pretty hard to stay focused on whatever’s been bringing you down.”
“Plus, Roy added, and I could hear the shit–eating grin in his voice, “I’ve got some bonus intel for you. Mira called me this morning – she’s planning to debut as an actress. If you’re still pissed at her about everything that went down, this could be your chance for some payback.”
“Holy shit, Roy,” I couldn’t help but laugh. “Are you seriously selling out your mate’s friend for me?”
“Hey, I’m a loyal friend!” Roy protested dramatically. “For my buddies, I’ll throw anyone under the bus loyalty you get with me!”
– even Yara’s bestie! That s the kind of ride–or–die
I shook my head, smiling despite myself. No wonder Roy was still considered one of the most eligible Alphas at thirty–eight. The man could charm his way out of anything.
who’s gonna give you shit? Just show up, “Come on,” Roy pressed, just say yes! It’s not like you’ve got anything else going on anyway. You’re Brad’s mate look pretty, and let everyone else do the work. Plus, if you think Sophia needs some cheering up too, bring her along!”
–
I glanced back through the glass doors at Sophia, still curled up like a wounded animal.
“Fine,” I said, making up my mind. “We’ll come play in your little Hollywood sandbox. But I’m warning you upfront – we don’t know the first thing about any
of this stuff.”

“Perfect! Roy’s excitement was practically vibrating through the phone. “That’s all I needed to hear!
After I hung up, I stood on the balcony for a moment, trying to figure out why Roy had sounded so damn thrilled about us agreeing to help.
I headed back into the bedroom to find Sophia finally stirring, her silver hair a tangled mess against the pillows.
“What time is it?” she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep.
“Almost ten,” I said, settling back onto the bed. ‘Don’t you have that date thing at noon? You still planning on going?”
“Fuck, Sophia groaned, burying her face in the pillow. “I don’t want it today.”
“Well, I said, trying to keep my tone casual, ‘I might have an alternative. Roy just called with an interesting proposition.”
Sophia peeked one eye at me. “What kind of proposition?”
“He wants us to come play producer on his new TV project. Apparently, Mira’s going to be acting in it.”
Both of Sophia’s eyes snapped open at that. “Wait, Mira’s becoming an actress? That dramatic bitch is actually going to make a career out of her crying and
scene–making?”
I nodded, and Sophia sat up, suddenly much more alert.
Sophia’s expression suddenly shifted, a predatory smile spreading across her features. “But if Mira’s going to be an actress, and we’re going to be producers…” She let out a low, delighted laugh. “Oh, this could be fun.”
“So you’re in?” I asked.
“Hell yes, I’m in.” Sophia grabbed her laptop and started typing. “Roy’s actually being a decent friend here.”
Then Sophia was on her phone calling Roy. Within minutes, we heard the roar of an engine outside, and through the window, I watched Roy pull up in the most ridiculously flashy red Maserati I’d ever seen.
“Jesus, Sophia muttered, shaking her head. “I honestly don’t know if there’s a she–wolf alive who could get that man to settle down.”
“What about Yara?” I asked.
Sophia snorted. “Please. Look at him – he’s always flirting with someone. Roy’s the kind of Alpha who keeps his options oper she’s definitely not the center of his universe.”
ight be his mate, but
I couldn’t help but laugh.
Roy strutted through the door like he owned the place.
“Alright, ladies,” he said. “What kind of terrible things were you saying about me? I could feel the gossip from outside.”
“Nothing terrible,” I said innocently. “We were just admiring your… enduring charm. It’s impressive how you maintain that youthful energy even as you approach the big 4-0.”

Roy’s hand flew to his chest in mock offense. “Hey now! Thirty–eight is still prime Alpha territory, thank you very much. I’ve got
Both Sophia and I burst out laughing.
“So, Roy said, leaning back with a satisfied smile, “I take it you’ve both decided to humor me and join my little film project?*
“We’re in,” Sophia confirmed.
ars of charm left in me!”
“How about you too do some acting too? Elle could cameo as a pregnant woman shopping, and maybe you could take on a small support
Absolutely not,” Sophia said immediately when Roy’s eyes lit up.
“Come on!” Roy pressed. “Acting is fun! It’s all about participation, about grabbing life by the balls and making the most of it, right?”
I gave Roy a knowing look. “You’re just trying to save money on extras, aren’t you?”
Roy’s grin widened. “Damn, you caught me!”
Sophia drummed her fingers on the table, then smiled. “Fine. We’ll help you out. But you better make sure we get some damn payment.”
Roy’s face lit up like Christmas morning. “Deal! This is going to be fucking amazing.”
