Mira’s POV
I strode into the audition room with my head held high.
But when I looked toward the producer’s table, my world tilted sideways.
“What the fuck? What the hell are you two doing here?”
1 glasses,
I stared at the two women sitting where Roy should have been. Elle West that pregnant human bitch – was practically hidden behi her seven–month belly making her look like a beached whale in an oversized blazer. And next to her, looking like the cat who ate the canary, was Sophia.
Sophia leaned back in her chair with deliberate casualness, her silver hair catching the light as she adopted the most infuriatingly professional tone I’d ever
heard.
“You’re here for the audition, please introduce yourself first.” She gestured at me like I was some random nobody off the street.
You absolute bitch. I wanted to rip her throat out right there.
I forced myself to swallow my rage, feeling it burn like acid in my throat. I had to play this smart.
Taking a deep breath, I bowed politely to the room, my voice dripping with forced sweetness. “Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Mira Collins, and I’m here to audition for the female lead role. I’m confident I can master this character-
“Since that’s the case, Sophia cut me off with a wave of her hand, “let’s go straight to the final scene –
Luna.”

The blood drained from my face. I could feel the crew members exchanging glances, their confusion obvious.
Shit. The final scene? I hadn’t actually bothered to read the script that carefully. I’d figured I could charm my way through the audition like I always did.
“The thing is,” I started, “I haven’t had a chance to fully review that particular scene…”
“Then you’re not prepared,” Sophia said flatly. “Next.”
Elle finally looked up from her notes, her eyes meeting mine for just a split second.
Fine. Even if I knew Sophia was playing with me, what choice did I have?
When the hell did Roy get so chummy with these two anyway?
“Of course,” I forced myself to say. “I’ll perform the scene.”
What followed was a disaster. Without knowing the actual script, I was flying blind, trying to improvise some generic performance that had nothing to do with the character or story. I could see the director’s face growing darker with each word that came out of my mouth.
The crew was looking at me like I was insane.
Finally, the director had enough. He slammed his hand on the table with a loud crack that made everyone jump.

Chapter 266
“Next!”
My mouth opened and closed uselessly. I wanted to explain, to defend myself, but the room was full of contemptuous stares and barely suppressed snickers.
I gathered what little dignity I had left and fled.
The moment I was out of that room, I was dialing Roy’s number.
“Roy?” I managed to keep my voice sweet despite wanting to scream. “Where are you right now? Can you come out for a bit? Or I could come to

The second I hung up, I was already touching up my lipstick in the rearview mirror, planning exactly how I was going to play this.
But first, I had a more important call to make.
“Yara?” I let my voice crack just enough to sound heartbroken. “I’m sorry, but I think I’m going to let
you down.”
“What’s wrong now?” Yara’s voice was immediately concerned. “What happened? Didn’t I ask Roy to help you pass?”
“Yeah, I thought Roy would, but…” I let out a carefully calculated sob. “Do you know who was running my audition today? Elle and Sophia! They completely took over Roy’s producer role and spent the whole time humiliating me!”
“That doesn’t sound right,” she said slowly. “Elle’s seven months pregnant – why would she be involved in..
“That’s exactly what I thought!” I pressed my advantage. “And that Sophia… Yara, you need to be really careful of her. She’s been working her way through all the Alphas – first Lester, now Roy. If Lester hadn’t been completely obsessed with her, how else would she have gotten her claws into the Frostclaw Pack? Now she’s setting her sights on Roy, and who knows what she’s planning!”
The silence on the other end told me I’d hit my target perfectly.
“Mira, Yara’s voice was tight with barely controlled panic, “you’re my friend. I need you to keep an eye on Roy for me. You’re the only one I can trust right
now.”
“Of course,” I purred, wiping away the fake tears.

Roy emerged from the main entrance, looking every inch the powerful Alpha in his perfectly tailored suit. I honked softly to get his attention, then made sure to give him my most helpless, wounded smile as he approached my car.
I leaned over to open the passenger door for him, noting with satisfaction that Brad and Lester hadn’t followed him out. This conversation – exactly what I needed.

Chapter 266
“Roy, I let my voice catch slightly. “I know Elle and Sophia don’t like me –
everyone knows that. I get why they’d have issues with me because of my history
with Brad and Lester. But why do they have to misunderstand everything and make my life so difficult?”
‘Look, Roy said, reaching out to play with a strand of my hair, “Brad invested serious money in this project. His condition was that Elle gets to be producer.
I couldn’t exactly tell him no, right? And Sophia’s Elle’s best friend, plus she’s Lester’s pack Beta. I had to give Lester some face.”
His fingers lingered near my cheek as he brought my hair to his nose. “Smells nice.”
Instead of pulling away, I leaned slightly into his touch, letting my eyes go soft and inviting. ‘You’re awful,” I said with a coy smile, then let my e turn slightly pouty. “I’m getting hungry.”
I made sure to give him a meaningful look with that last comment, the kind that suggested I was hungry for more than just food.
Roy’s smile deepened as he caught my hand. “Then let me buy you dinner. Consider it compensation for your rough day.”
“It better be somewhere really nice,” I said, letting my voice take on a playful, demanding tone. “After what I went through today, I deserve some serious
pampering.
“Absolutely,” Roy agreed.
