I look at the report of a visitor to Shadewoods Mansion, he walked in with a plastic bag from a grocery store and exited without tha
bag.
He hadn’t looked out of place, but he had been careful with exposing himself to anyone watching the mansion. Just before he entered the mansion he took off his hat and my team got a great picture of him.
Zeke is trying to find a name with the face and then we can look for a file on this guy. An hour ago a small van from the same grocery store had come to the mansion and a guard at the gate had taken two plastic bags from the delivery guy, before the guard brought it inside.
Pedro went down to the grocery store to find out what had been delivered, because they had gotten groceries yesterday.
“Amir, this is really strange.” Pedro says as he walks into the dining room. “The clerk remembered the items from both days, the first day it was just some light foods like always and the second day he was handed over a list.”
Pedro hands me the list and I can understand why the clerk had been surprised, because the items on the list are to help someone recover from severe injuries or malnourishment.
“The clerk said that normally they get an email for the delivery, but once in a while that same male shows up to bring the groceries himself. The store gets paid once a month upfront, any money left after a month is for the employees. They always hand the groceries to one of the guards, who never say a word to them and then they leave again.” Pedro continues.
Lucas planned this very carefully and everything is taken care of, but why did the visitor send extra groceries to the mansion?
Shadewoods Mansion is rented in Dawn’s name and according to the realtor it only has one occupant, Dawn herself. So, who is the person my surveillance team saw yesterday and who needs the extra groceries?
“Let us see if we can rattle Lucas‘ cage. I want to know if he will visit his Mother, when he realizes that members of the King’s Army are in Bellwich.” I say to Pedro.
“We will keep an eye on any updates from the mansion or from Liam’s intel.” Wade says, while he holds out our decoy file.
Pedro and I sit down at a table not far from Lucas and he looks rather uncomfortable with us there.
“Okay, what do we have so far?” I ask and Pedro opens the file.
We discuss Dorian’s disappearance and the conversation with possibly the last people that saw him, the waitress takes our order while she looks at a picture of Dorian.
“Sorry, I have never seen him before. I hope you find him.” She says before she heads back inside to place our order.
“Okay, tell me why the Elders believe that these cases are connected?” I say to Pedro and he flips a few more pages.
“One of the other units had taken a look at Dorian’s case, but they got even less than we did. When they got back to the Academy. they asked Clover to file the file and that is when the ball started rolling. She was looking at the evidence that was gathered and she recognized the charm they found from a case she worked on when she was still a part of Commander Cart’s unit
She did a search for that charm in our system and found six other cases with that same charm on the evidence list Pedro says, but I notice that he hasn’t told me everything yet.

I see that his index finger is pointing at the fifth name and I slowly follow the line to find my own name behind it, turns out that we handled one of the eight case.
“Okay, let us get back to the house and see if we can find any other connections between these cases. I am not giving up until we find Dorian and bring him home to his Mother” I say as the waitress clears our table.
Lucas started relaxing after we started talking about our case and now he seems to be eavesdropping on our conversation. I grab the picture of Dorian and hold it in front of Lucas, “Ever seen this boy, sir?” I ask.
“Not that I recall, but I haven’t been living here that long. Did I hear you correctly when you said that he disappeared?” Lucas asks and I just nod my head, I don’t have anything else to say to him.
I did get the chance to see if he might know something about why we are really here, but he doesn’t seem to think that we are here for him.
Pedro has kept his eye on Lucas, while I was inside to pay the bill and the moment I step outside Pedro walks up to me with the file under his arm,
“Let’s see if we can find some more clues to this case, I want to put a stop to this and get some damn answers.” Pedro says, but I know it is more a play for Lucas and his friend.
“Isn’t that the guy that visited the mansion the other day?” I ask.
“Yeah, his name is Jack. I believe that they are Mates, I took a picture of Jack’s neck.” Pedro responds.
The moment we get back to the house, Pedro connects his phone to his laptop and pulls up the photo he took of Jack.
“This is Jack, our visitor to the mansion and look at his neck.” Pedro says as the picture is shown on a big screen.
Right there on his neck was a mark, two Wolves under a Full Moon and Lucas‘ name at the bottom while Jack’s name was on the top. The mark that every lone Shifter has, is a mark of both Shifters under a Full Moon with their names and here we saw the evidence of Lucas being a lone Wolf with a Mate.
This is something no one had been able to find out, no matter how many Shifters had followed Lucas and now we had the proof that he had found his fated Mate. It was something that returned in almost every report on Lucas, he still hasn’t found his fated Mate

I place the eight files on the missing persons on the table and Matias rolls a whiteboard into the living room. Wade places maps of different cities on the table, while Pedro sends the picture of Jack to King Damon.
“Okay, let’s start with the first file.” I say and Pedro grabs the first file.
“Twenty five year old Sylvie disappeared while walking home from work in Wolfstrand, she lived on the outskirts of the city.” Pedro reads and I grab the map of Wolfstrand.
I look at the description of the route she took from work to her house and with a blue marker I follow the route on the map, “Where was the charm found?” I ask and Pedro points at a spot on the map, I mark it with a red cross.
“Who is next?” I ask and Pedro pushes a file in my direction.
“Thirty six year old Harmon went missing on his way home from work, he also lives in the outskirts of Wolfstrand, on the other side of the city in comparison to Sylvie.” Pedro says.
In the meantime I had traced his route on the map and a red cross at the spot where the charm was found, at least we found two connections between these two cases.
“Next is eighteen year old Nixon from Angelbell, who disappeared while heading home from school.” I hear Pedro say while I trace his route on a map of Angelbell, marking the finding place of the charm with a red cross.
“There is a note here from Clover, she found two more missing persons reports. She missed them during her first search, because the charms had been logged incorrectly.” Pedro says before he starts giving me the details from the other two reports.
Next I trace the route that sixty one year old took from work to her house on the edge of Angelbell and after that the route of twenty nine year old Max, his walk from work to home.
“Wade, call Elder Emmett. I want Clover here asap and I don’t care if he or King Damon disagrees, get her here.” I say while Pedro hands me the map of Silvermount.
I trace the route of forty seven year old Weston on the map, his path from work to home. Next is the route of thirty two year Hannah, she was on her way home from a work seminar.
old
The next map I get is for Rogueyard and I trace the route of fifty three year old Linda, a path from her workplace to her house. The second route is for forty year old Ana, she was heading home from work and then I trace Dorian’s route on the map of Bellwich.
I tape all four maps to the wall and take a few steps back to look at them, ten routes for ten missing people.
Matias is standing next to me, staring at the maps on the wall.
“Okay, the charm isn’t the only thing they have in common. Each of them walked their route from work or school to their homes, as they did every single day.” Matias comments.
Pedro is writing on the whiteboard, the first connection between the cases is the charm and the second connection is that each of them was on foot.
