Chapter 284
Margaery was speechless about this as well.

‘In the fierce struggle of the court, when cornered, bloodshed is truly overwhelming; my strength is simply not enough, Margaery thought.
She stuffed all the valuable items given to her over the past few days into Bell’s hands. “Take these to the pawnshop and help me buy these medicines.”
“Alright.” Bell didn’t understand, but didn’t ask. She took the items and left directly.
Margaery glanced around the room, looking for a place to sit, only to find the bed collapsed, the table shattered, and the chair with a broken leg.
How wonderful, indeed.
She could only sit on a broken plank and instructed Adam to carry the bodies to the Inquisition Court.
Afterwards, her mind grew heavy.
“Star of Fortune…” she mumbled to herself.
She felt the weight of those four words more and more.
‘Since I am the Star of Fortune, the fall of the Star of Fortune signifies the arrival of calamity: the people are gripped by fear, opportunists stir up trouble, uprisings erupt across the land, and foreign powers invade…‘ Margaery mused.
‘From now on, aside from Tessa wanting me dead, all those within the Eastvale Empire seeking to profit from the turmoil, as well as everyone from foreign lands, will want me dead,‘ she thought to herself.
‘How many days has it been? I am almost assassinated every few days,‘ Margaery wondered.
She closed her eyes briefly, instructed Enoch and several other people to guard outside, and then administered treatment to herself.
She must prepare; she had to cultivate internal energy at the fastest possible speed.
What Samuel left behind, besides the medicinal formula, also included a breathing technique.
Margaery followed the prescribed breathing method to lay the foundation of internal energy.
Without internal energy, one could only be a brute in the barracks.
‘Whether it is Craig, Dashnell, or Norman of the Chapel of Wisdom, their greatest strength lies in internal energy
‘And this is also the most difficult to master, Margaery mused.
Yet she had no other path to take, for ‘Star of Fortune‘ had made her a living target for all sides; without the ability to protect herself, not only would she not survive, but she would also drag the nation into chaos
Margaery took a deep breath, her gaze growing resolute.
At the doorway, Enoch stood quietly, watching her.
Gradually, he began to feel a trace of admiration for this petite girl.

How many girls from noble families‘ inner chambers, after just surviving an assassination attempt, could so calmly move forward?
How strong must her heart be?‘ Enoch admired.
Forged in the crucible of death, Margaery’s spirit feared nothing. All that remained was the relentless drive to charge ahead.
At midnight, snow as thick as goose feathers blanketed Sinderin.
Sinderin had been under strict lockdown for two days, yet not even a hair had been caught; instead, the Star of Fortune was attacked.
When the news reached the Inquisition Court, Quinn’s lips twitched, and he brought the corpse into the palace overnight.
Dashnell had just left the palace when he encountered Solon.
Solon briefly explained the situation to him, then asked, “The young lady said she wishes to see the High Priest, or have an audience with His Majesty directly.”
However, she did not say she wanted to see Dashnell.
This sentence flashed through Solon’s mind, and his expression became somewhat peculiar.
Dashnell thought for a moment, then nodded, “Then send her to see Father; Simon happens to be there as well.”
Margaery did not say she wanted to see Dashnell, which most likely meant the matter she mentioned was not convenient for him to relay.
But Dashnell harbored no suspicion in his heart.
“Take her into the palace; I will make the proper arrangements.” After saying this, Dashnell turned and returned to the palace.
Meanwhile, Solon returned and went straight to find Margaery.
“What is she doing…” The words were on the tip of Solon’s tongue as he looked at Margaery, who was sitting cross–legged in the room, her face showing astonishment. “Using silver needles to forcibly pierce herself? Is she trying to ascend to the heavens?”
Even in his own youth, he had only broken through bit by bit.
‘Margaery wants to break through all at once? Isn’t this a bit excessive? Doesn’t she feel pain? She does feel pain, Solon thought.
At that moment, Margaery’s pale little face was covered in cold sweat, her body twitching from time to time. This was a natural reaction, yet also unnatural.
No one would attempt to use silver needles to pierce oneself.
One careless move could be fatal.
“Look at her breathing…
Enoch had been watching for a long time and gradually sensed something unusual.

“What is she doing?” Solon wondered.
“Fine, I’ll give her a hand,” he said, his lips twitching.

He tossed his sword to Enoch, sat down behind Margaery, placed both hands on her back, and channeled his own internal energy into her.
Margaery pressed her lips tightly together.
She was in so much pain that she could not speak.
The strength in her body, under the impact of the silver needles, felt as if the Monkey King was rampaging inside her body -punching, kicking, and striking everywhere.
Pain everywhere, darting from place to place.
The pain was so intense that she could barely breathe.
But with Solon’s internal energy guiding her, things became just a little smoother.
In the blink of an eye, one hour had passed.
In the depths of winter, she seemed as if she had just been pulled from hot water. Enoch entered and immediately wrapped her in a fur cloak. “Are you trying to get yourself killed? One careless moment and it could be fatal.”
Margaery leaned against Enoch’s embrace, feeling as though she was about to die.
The pain seemed to drain all her strength; all she wanted now was to fall into a deep sleep.
Yet the sensation in her body was different from before.
Some unknown force began to flow smoothly within her, making her body feel light and bringing tears to her eyes.
Solon picked up his sword again. “Rest for a while. At dawn, I will take you to the palace.”
Margaery nodded and, leaning against Enoch, drifted off to sleep.
Her dreams were chaotic.
In the chaos, the land was littered with the starved dead. She led a squad of cavalry, charging down the hillside, killing amidst utter confusion…
At this moment, Quinn appeared in the Imperial Study.
“Tonight, no fewer than thirty people attempted to assassinate the Star of Fortune. Seven were killed, the rest escaped. They carried the city garrison’s waist badges, but judging by their bone structure, they are smaller than men from the Eastvale Empire, likely from the Southcroft Empire or Frosthelm!” he said.
Hearing this, the King’s pupils were pitch black, his fists tightly clenched.
The woman he loved most had died at the hands of Frosthelm’s assassins!
‘Now, they have come again to kill the Star of Fortune?

And they came from the city garrison!‘ the King fumed inwardly.
He took a slow, deep breath. “Summon the commander of the city garrison.”
It truly had been a turbulent year.

The commander of the city garrison was a holdover from the late King, having held the position for twenty years. Yet, no one expected things to come to this.
The Wallen family has fallen. Not only did the Chancellor’s faction require a complete purge, but now the city garrison, Magistrate’s Court, and the Six Ministries.
It seemed all required a thorough overhaul.
Otherwise, it was uncertain whose hands the court would fall into.
After Quinn left, Warren entered and spoke quietly, “Your Majesty, the Star of Fortune has sent word through someone, requesting an audience with you.”
‘Granted!” The King nodded.
He did not know why Margaery wanted to see him, but he also wanted to observe her reaction. For the path of a guardian deity of the Eastvale Empire, Margaery was only just the beginning.
in the deep, pitch–black night, the King turned his head to look at Simon. “Who do you think sent those people tonight?”
Simon hesitated.
Was this something he could say?
He was now even a little worried that Margaery might say something particularly offensive upon entering the palace.
n the end, he could only reply, “Whoever stands to gain is the one who acts.”
Old fox!”
The King snorted. “I think your apprentice will be a bit more sincere than you.”
He looked toward the door, anticipating Margaery’s visit to the palace this time.
If she turned out to be just like Simon, then this lucky star… I have chosen wrong,‘ the King thought.
There must be people like Simon.
But the entire court cannot be filled with such people,
If so, who would remain by my side?‘ the King mused.
