Marina went quiet, listening to Elnora.

The Campbell family’s offer was honestly too good to pass up. If he were in the same position, she’d probably give up a marriage that didn’t really matter to her, too.
Marina scooted closer to Elnora, burying her head in Elnora’s arins.
Elnora gave a smile, hugged her, and spoke softly, “Albert found me a new doctor. I’ll be receiving treatment in Port City from now on.”
Marina’s head shot up after hearing that.
“So Janette’s treatment didn’t help at all?” she asked, her voice full of concern.
Marina had been checking in with Elnora’s assistant for updates on her condition.
Every time she asked, Anya reassured her that the treatment was going well, and the doctor had said the best window for treating early–stage stomach cancer was within a month.
By now, Elnora should have almost finished all her treatment.
Seeing the worry in Marina’s eyes, Elnora spoke softly, “Janette’s treatment wasn’t completely ineffective, but the results were less than ideal.”
The number of cancer cells in her body was going down.
But a few days ago, Albert had specifically consulted a leading expert from abroad to review all her test results and data.
The expert didn’t say anything outright, but Elnora managed to pick up some useful information from the few things he did
mention.
She’d done everything Janette asked, so normally, the treatment would work even better.
After all, Janette was part of the Milner family.
Back when Elnora threw that welcome party for Marina, all the gossip about Marina and Daron totally drowned out the news about Joyce and Daron’s upcoming engagement.
The Milner family had always been eager to tie the knot with the Zamora family, so they were likely the ones spreading that news in the first place.
But then the Finley family stepped in and changed the whole narrative.
The Milner family was definitely bitter about it.
Wouldn’t be surprising if Janette were deliberately stalling Elnora’s recovery just to help her own family get ahead.
If Elnora were gone, the Finley family wouldn’t have any power left in this scene.
Marina caught on to what Elnora meant, her breath quickening.
“The Milner family has really crossed the line!” she shouted.
Elnora reassured her, “It’s just speculation. There’s no real evidence.”
Janette would never leave any proof for anyone to find.

“Alright, let’s get some sleep. I’ve got an early morning, and you feed to head over to the Zamora Group tomorrow,” Elnora added.
She said that, then closed her eyes.
A look of shock flashed in Marina’s eyes. She turned to Elnora al whispered, “Elnora, how did you know I’m starting at Zamora Group?”
She hadn’t mentioned it to Elnora at all.
Plus, the whole three–month agreement was something Daron only suggested afterward.
Elnora didn’t open her eyes, her voice soft as she replied, “Daron’s still caught up in the novelty of having you around. He wouldn’t dream of letting you go.”
Marina pressed her lips together and thought, ‘How long could this novelty really last?
‘Sooner or later, Daron would end up engaged to Joyce.
‘All I have to do is make sure I don’t get caught up in his games of piss him off while he is still interested, and then slip away without a scratch.‘
When Marina stayed silent, Elnora shot her a look. Seeing that hint of pain in Marina’s quiet expression, Elnora couldn’t help but frown.
Elnora and Daron were basically the same type of person. She knew Daron’s thoughts too well.
Back then, Marina was the one who kicked up a fuss and called off the engagement, totally blindsiding him and leaving him humiliated. Now, he’s just too proud to make the first move, only wanting to keep her around, no matter what.
Because of Kathy’s influence, Marina was always plagued by insecurity, so there’s no way she’d ever put herself out there first.
Elnora had no intention of forcing Marina to deal with Daron herself.
She thought, ‘Looks like the only thing left to do is give Daron a motivation. If he still wouldn’t make a move, then he could stay single for all I care.‘
“Marina, lately, some of the ladies in our circle have been suggesting a bunch of well–mannered young men your age. The guys with good reputations.
“My own marriage is already set, so I really hope you can settle yours soon, too. Whenever I get the chance, I’ll keep an eye out for good matches for you, and you should get to know them as well,” Elnora said.
Marina lifted her head and glanced at Elnora.
Elnora kept her eyes shut, her expression unreadable.
Marina could only murmur her reply.
“Sure,” she said.
Elnora just murmured an acknowledgment and fell silent.
Marina sighed inwardly, kept quiet, but she couldn’t sleep.
Early the next morning, Elnora got up, got herself ready, and headed out.

Chapter 220
Marina had barely fallen asleep when Elnora’s movements woke her. She opened her eyes but refused to get up, just lying there in bed.
Before leaving, Elnora reminded Marina of the time. Only then did Marina reluctantly drag herself out of bed, hugging her pillow as she trudged back to her own room.
After washing up, Marina checked her phone.
She saw a message from Daron.
It was about her work arrangements. He told her to head straight to Chloe at Zamora Group headquarters. Chloe would arrange the work for her.
Daron added that he’d be back in a week, so she should just take some time to settle in.
Marina read the message and simply replied.
Marina: [Got it.]
Daron was in Frency, sitting in Garret’s hospital room. When he saw Marina’s reply, his face instantly darkened.
Garret leaned over and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Even with all his injuries, Garret’s curiosity was still burning bright.
He’d noticed Daron checking his phone over and over, like he was waiting for a message from someone.
Garret already knew it was Marina, but he was still dying to know what Marina had said to make Daron look so pissed.
He only managed to catch a glimpse before Daron quickly put his phone away.
But he still picked up on the key details.
Daron had sent Marina a long message, but Marina had replied with just a simple, all–business.
Garret couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
“Daron, is this really how you chase after a girl?” he teased.
Daron gave him a frosty side–eye and retorted coldly, “Like you’re the authority on this.”
Garret was momentarily stumped by his words, then just snorted.
“Well, maybe I’m not exactly an expert. But as the old saying goes, when you’re in the middle of it, you can’t see straight, bu everyone understanding from the sidelines sees it all,” he teased.
Garret could tell Daron wasn’t buying it, so he continued right away, “Daron, don’t be so quick to doubt me. Let me tell you what’s really going on in Marina’s mind.”
Daron just looked over at him, but didn’t stop him from continuing.
Garret immediately perked up.
“Marina’s at Zamora Group for work, right? And you? You’re her boss,” he added, grinning.
Daron gave him a cold look and said, “If you talk nonsense more, just shut up.”
Garret chuckled awkwardly but kept talking.
