Chapter 248
Daron tore his gaze away from her and went upstairs.
Marina walked over to the dining table and saw that the oatmeal sent over from the Zamora family estate had gone cold, so she warmed it up for Daron.
When the time was right, she headed upstairs again.
Just then, Daron walked out of the bathroom.
She grabbed the hair dryer like she’d done it a hundred times, walked over to Daron, and began to dry his hair for him.
Daron glanced up at the mirror. Marina seemed to be in a pretty good mood today, and her smile looked a lot more genuine than yesterday. He asked, his tone casual, “So, looks like you really hit it off with your blind date today?”
Marina had just put the hair dryer back in the drawer when she heard Daron’s question.
She paused for a moment, then smiled and replied, “Judging from his profile, he seems alright.”
Daron just scoffed and didn’t bother to reply. He went ahead and took off his bathrobe.
Marina ducked her head and slipped out of the closet.
Once Daron was dressed in his suit, she came back in to help him with his tie.
“Does your blind date know you’re working as my personal assistant?” Daron asked.
Marina shook her head, her expression open and sincere. “I dont think so.”
Daron lowered his gaze, his eyes cold and distant as he looked at her.
“You should probably let him know. A lot of guys wouldn’t be cool with their girlfriends spending so much time with another man,” he said coldly.
Marina nodded, going along with Daron’s suggestion.
“Yeah, I should let him know,” she said. “But I’m only helping you out for three months, so I doubt he’ll really care.”
Daron’s face darkened, his eyes turning frosty.
After tying his tie, Marina smoothed out his shirt collar and smiled, clearly pleased with her work.
“All set, Mr. Zamora,” she said. “I reheated the oatmeal from the Zamora family for you. It’s just right now.”
Daron gave a noncommittal grunt and strode past her.
Daron spoke in a low voice as they walked, “You seem to be adapting fast. Are you really just planning to work for me for three months and then leave?”
Marina nodded. “Yes, Mr. Zamora. I’m going back to the Finley Group.”
Daron paused, turning his head slightly.
Marina stopped as well, quietly waiting to see what Daron would say next.
But in the end, he didn’t say anything. He simply turned and walked downstairs.

A hint of confusion flashed in Marina’s eyes, but she quickly shook it off and followed him down, all respectful and ready to do her job.
Daron sat down at the table and checked his phone. It was a message from Elnora.
Elnora said: [Hey, Marina’s got a blind date tonight. Can she get off work at six? I need to set a time with the guy 1
Daron’s expression darkened as he read the message, and he quickly replied: [Are you really that worried your sister worl! get married?]
Elnora said: [Not at all. You have no idea how popular Marina is. I just put the word out, and now all these eligible guys are lining up to meet her. If I set her up with a blind date every day, she wouldn’t see the same guy twice for a whole month
Daron’s grip on his phone tightened, his face was downright frigid.
Marina stood by, scooped some oatmeal into a bowl, placed it in front of him, then moved aside.
Daron’s expression was so dark, it felt like a storm was about to break.
Marina instinctively kept her distance, not knowing who was texting Daron to make him look so grim.
Daron didn’t bother replying to Elnora. He set his phone down with a thud and started eating his oatmeal, his face completely expressionless.
When he finished, he set his bowl down.
As Marina reached for the dishes, Daron raised a hand to stop her, his voice low.
“You don’t need to do that. The cleaning staff will be here soon,” he said.
Marina paused, and Daron got up from his seat, heading for the door.
She hurried after him.
Daron stayed completely silent the entire ride to the office.
Marina could tell he was in a bad mood, so she made sure not to say anything that might set him off.
When they arrived at the office, Marina pulled up and stopped the car.
Daron opened the back door and got out, then said in a low voice, “Go home, pack your things, and bring them to my place.” Marina’s eyes flashed with surprise. “Mr. Zamora, I’m just more comfortable living at the Finley family. I…
Daron gave her a calm look and said quietly, “What’s going on in that head of yours?”
Marina hesitated, confusion flickering in her eyes.
Daron kept his voice even as he spoke again. “When you get to my place, pack up my stuff as well. Then come get me and we’ll head to the airport.”
Marina moved her lips, a little embarrassed, but she nodded anyway. “Okay.”
Daron just grunted and shut the car door.
Just as Marina was about to drive off, Daron leaned down and tapped on the window.
She quickly rolled it down.

Daron leaned in, his voice low. “Make sure you cancel your blind late tonight. Don’t go ghosting the guy and have your sister bugging me about it again.”
Marina nodded. “O–Okay”
Daron just grunted and turned to head into the Zamora Group
Marina took one last look at his back, then started the car and drove off to the Finley family to pack her stuff,
Daron hadn’t bothered to tell her how long the trip would last.
Marina looked at her tiny suitcase, hesitated, then ended up calling Daron.
“Mr. Zamora, how long are we going to be gone for?” she asked.
Daron said, “At least a week. Could be longer, not sure yet.”
She’d barely set foot back in Vrufield before she was being sent off again.
Daron’s tone was icy. “Anything else?”
Marina replied, “No.”
As soon as he got her answer, Daron hung up.
Marina glanced at her phone, then ended up trading her small suitcase for a bigger one.
Once she was packed, Marina gave Elnora a quick call to check in.
“Hey, I’ve been sent to Frency for work. Not sure when I’ll be back, maybe a week or so,” Marina said.
Elnora asked, “When did this come up?”
Marina replied, “They just sprung it on me after I dropped Mr. Zamora off at the Zamora Group.”
Elnora seemed to get what Daron was doing and just said, “Alright.”
Marina said, “Can you let Waylon know for me? I can only meet him after I get back.”
Elnora responded calmly, “It’s a last–minute thing, he’ll understand. I’ll set you two up when you’re back.”
Marina answered cheerfully, “Sure!”
As soon as they hung up, Elnora called Daron right away.
“Hey, old friend, you knew my sister had a blind date today. Dragging her off on a business trip with you is a little shady, don’t you think?” Elnora teased.
Daron’s voice was cold, completely emotionless.
“Ms. Finley, you’re overthinking it. Business trips are in the contract. It’s not like I did it on purpose,” he said.
“Come on, it’s just one blind date. I’ve got a whole list of eligible bachelors on my end. When I get back, I’ll introduce her to a few and make it up to her, deal?” he added.
