Chapter 272
Marina and Daron hurried back to the counter again, and Marina handed the marriage registration form to the staff member.
The staff member glanced at the form and said in a neutral voice, “3 bucks.”
Marina nodded gently. “Okay, I’ll pay…”
Before she could finish, Daron pulled out 3 dollars and placed them on the counter, sliding them over to the staff member.
Marina blinked in surprise, staring at the nine crisp one–dollar bills before glancing up at Daron.
“When did you get these ready?” she asked.
Daron answered, “This morning.”
He’d actually gone out early that day to the park where seniors gather, just to get change from an elderly couple.
Because he wanted to spend a lifetime with Marina, like those couples in the park.
Marina didn’t ask any more questions; she couldn’t help but feel a little guilty.
They’d only made the decision to get married last night, but it was like Daron had been planning this forever, while she was still trying to wrap her head around it.
After Daron paid, the staff member handed over their marriage certificates.
Marina reached out and picked up hers, the solid feel of it in her hand making everything suddenly real. Her heart finally settled.
‘I’m really married to Daron now, Marina thought, hardly able to believe it.
For ten years, she’d never even let herself hope for this.
She was about to take a closer look when Daron gently took the marriage certificate from her hands and said in a calm voice, “I’ll keep it.”
“Huh?” Marina looked at him in bewilderment.
Daron just slipped the marriage certificate into the inner pocket of his suit jacket.
She could only watch him, staring blankly at his actions.
After putting the marriage certificate away, Daron glanced at his watch and said coolly, “Let’s head to the office.
Marina nodded, “Alright.”
As they stepped out of the marriage registry, the driver quickly pulled up with the car.
Daron ducked into the car, then reached out and pulled Marina right next to him.
Wrapped in his embrace, Marina hesitated for a moment before speaking.
“Can I keep my copy of the marriage certificate?” Marina asked.

Daron lowered his gaze to her.
“We’re not announcing it, so what do you need it for?” he said calmly.
Her fingers curled slightly at her side.
‘So Daron’s worried I’ll spread it around and people will know about our marriage?‘ she thought.
She bit her lip lightly. “I just want to show it to my sister.”
Daron gave a low, dismissive hum.
“If you let her see it, won’t the whole world end up knowing we’re married?” he said.
Marina just stared at him, lost for words.
“My sister isn’t the type to blab,” she replied. “She won’t tell anyone, I promise.”
Daron just stayed silent.

Marina’s gaze lingered on the inner pocket of his suit jacket, and she reached out, clearly aiming for the marriage certificate.
Daron quickly covered the pocket with his hand, catching Marina’s hand and holding it there against his chest.
Marina just stared, lost for words.
She could feel Daron’s heartbeat, hot to the touch and pounding beneath her palm.
“Fine, if you won’t let me have mine, then you should at least let me hold onto yours. That’s only fair,” she said.
Daron replied coolly, “No.”
Her eyes welled up with tears. ‘So he doesn’t want to make it public, and now he won’t even let me have the certificate?‘ Marina thought, feeling a sting in her chest.
She’d been planning to snap a photo of the marriage certificate and send it to Kara, just to blow Kara’s mind.
But with Daron being so firm about it, she knew there was no way she’d get it back.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but the frustration kept bubbling up.
“Whatever, I don’t even want it,” Marina muttered, her voice thick with tears.
She let out a little huff, her voice trembling, and quickly turned her face away from Daron, shifting away from him as much as she could.
But Daron wasn’t about to let her get away.
He wrapped his arm tightly around her waist, holding her in place so she couldn’t move.
He looked down at her, her eyes red and puffy, cheeks puffed out in a pout, and couldn’t help but feel a little helpless.
Daron raised an eyebrow, sounding a little exasperated. “And what exactly do you need the marriage certificate for?”
Marina glared right back at him, her voice dripping with sarcasm as she snapped, “Maybe I’ll use it to get a loan or something! Satisfied?”

“Maybe I’ll use it to get a loan or something! Satisfied?
Daron couldn’t help but laugh at her words, then leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to the corner of her eye
“You need a loan? There’s a private bank under Zamora Group’s name. Just help yourself to whatever you want, he said “Or when we get to the office, I’ll give you an extra card on my account, and you can.”
Before Daron could finish, Marina, fixing him with a silent glare, suddenly lunged forward and gave his lip a sharp bite She didn’t hold back, and Daron’s eyes flashed–a jolt of electricity shot from his lips all the way down his body
He knew this wasn’t a kiss; the little spitfire was clearly getting back at him. But instead of pushing her away, he uted her chin up, made her part her lips, and claimed her mouth in a real kiss.
Marina had to admit, part of her just wanted to get back at him.
All she wanted was to silence him for once.
She couldn’t stand how he’d hurt her one moment, then try to make it up to her the next.
This rollercoaster of emotions was making her feel like she was on a wild ride.
Daron kissed her so deep and passionate, he couldn’t help himself. Maybe it was because it was the first time Marina hadd ever initiated a kiss, and he just lost control.
It wasn’t until the driver raised the partition, and Daron’s hand slid over the soft fabric of Marina’s shirt, that her eyes fere open and she pushed him away.
“Are you crazy?” she hissed, her voice barely above a whisper.
She kept her voice low, speaking in a hushed tone.
Daron curved his lips in a playful smile, then ran his tongue over the spot where Marina had just nipped him
“Who’s the crazy one here, huh?” he teased.
She’d just bitten him out of the blue, like a little angry kitten with its fur all bristled.
Marina let out a soft huff and muttered back under her breath, “Serves you right.
Daron leaned in close, his voice playful. “How is that my fault?
“So marrying you is my punishment?”
Marina’s nose turned a little pink. “Exactly. You could’ve picked someone better, but you chose me. That’s on you
“And if you say something I don’t like again, I’ll really bite you next time.”
As she spoke, Marina flashed her teeth at him, showing off her pearly whites like a warning
Daron burst out laughing at her feisty little show, pulled her straight back into his arms, and gave her another quick kiss on the lips.
“Yeah, serves me right. Guess I was meant to end up with you,” he teased, his voice warm and playful

Without missing a beat, he scooped her up and settled her right onto his lap as he spoke.
Marina could feel something unmistakably hard beneath her, and she instantly tried to slide off his lap.
But Daron tightened his grip around her waist, refusing to let her go
“Don’t squirm, or I can’t guarantee what’ll happen next, he murmured, voice low and full of mischief
Marina quickly pressed her hand over his mouth, stopping him before he could say anything more.
After all, they were still in the car, with the driver just up front–even with the privacy screen up, there was no way it blocked everything
Daron let out a low chuckle, his chest rumbling with laughter.
Marina looked at him, catching the playful glint in his eyes, and clenched her jaw, squeezing out a tiny whisper through her teeth.
“You… animal,” she muttered
Daron chuckled, gently pressing Marina’s head against his chest, his voice low and teasing
“Who said you could bite me? Don’t you know men aren’t for biting?” he murmured.
