Chapter 298
Hearing the two saleswomen greet them in perfect sync, Marina’s breath caught for a moment.
Hayley had a faint smile on her face as she nodded gently.
“Hello,” she said.
Marina bit her lip and glanced at Hayley, suddenly unsure how she should address her.
‘Should I call her Mrs. Zamora?‘ she wondered.

While Marina was still hesitating, the young woman beside her reached out and gently took her arm, smiling warmly.
“Mom, check out this style I picked for you! Do you like it? Come on, give it a try!” the young woman said.
Marina’s eyes widened in surprise.
Wait, is the young woman standing next to her actually Hayley’s daughter? But… hasn’t Hayley always said she never had any kids?‘ Marina wondered, feeling even more confused.
Hayley nodded, her face softening with a doting smile as she reached out to smooth down Zara’s dark hair.
“Alright, you help me try it on,” she said softly.
Zara’s face lit up with a happy smile. The saleswoman quickly brought over a tray, and Zara picked up the jewelry, carefully putting it on Hayley.
Seeing this, Marina didn’t want to intrude, so she quietly looked away.
Just as she was about to turn and look at other pieces, Zara’s voice called out again.
“Mom, it looks amazing on you! It really matches your style. Ms. Finley and I both liked this one at the same time, but she let me have first pick,” Zara said.
Hayley took the mirror from the saleswoman and admired the necklace on her neck.
‘Did you thank Ms. Finley?” she asked softly.
As she spoke, she glanced over at Marina, a polite smile on her face.
But when her eyes landed on Marina’s face, a subtle emotion flickered in her gaze, though her smile didn’t waver for a second.
Marina seized the moment as Hayley looked her way, offering a polite smile and greeting her first.
“Mrs. Zamora,” she said.
Her voice was gentle and steady, completely masking her nerves. No one would have guessed she was feeling even a little
flustered.
Hayley nodded gently.
“Hello, Ms. Finley,” Hayley greeted, her tone polite but distant,

Marina could hear the coldness in Hayley’s voice, and it made her feel a little uneasy inside. Still, she kept her smile perfectly in place, quickly steering the conversation toward the necklace Hayley had just tried on, offering a genuine compliment.
She’d noticed how pleased Hayley looked with the necklace earlier. There was no mistaking that satisfied expression.
Hayley turned her attention away from Marina, her lips still curved in a polite smile as she quietly spoke to the saleswoman. “Wrap it up,” she said.
The saleswoman nodded and quickly started wrapping up the jewelry set.
Zara stood quietly next to Hayley, sneaking glances at Marina every so often, her eyes full of curiosity.
When Daron finished his call and walked in, he saw the saleswoman handing the jewelry box to Hayley for her to look over.
Marina breathed a silent sigh of relief when she saw him come in. Just as she was about to greet him, Zara beamed and headed straight for Daron.
“Daron, what brings you here?” Zara asked.
Daron mussed her hair affectionately, his tone calm and easygoing.
“I’m here to pick out some jewelry for Aunt Hayley,” he replied.
As he spoke, Daron glanced at Marina, who was standing across from Hayley, a hint of a smile in his eyes as he walked over to her.
“Have you made your choice?” he asked.
Zara turned to watch Daron head toward Marina, her bright smile never fading, then obediently returned to stand by Hayley’s side.
Daron took the jewelry box from the saleswoman in front of Hayley and said quietly to Marina, “You’ve got good taste. This really suits Aunt Hayley.”
Marina gave a soft smile.
“Zara was the one who picked it out,” she said.
Zara quickly waved her hands, saying, “It wasn’t really me. We both liked it at the same time, but you spotted it first and let me have it. I didn’t realize’we were both choosing it for Mom.”
As she spoke, Zara reached out her hand to Marina, her expression warm and friendly.
“Hi, I’m Zara Blanchard,” she said.
When Marina heard Zara’s name, her fingers stiffened for a moment, but she quickly smiled and reached out to shake Zara’s
hand.
“Hello, I’m Marina Finley. Nice to meet you, Zara,” she said.
Zara smiled warmly. “Nice to meet you too.”
With that, she withdrew her hand and slipped her arm through Hayley’s.

With a smile, Daron turned to Zara.
“Why don’t you pick out another set for Aunt Hayley? Let’s call this one our pick,” he said.
As he spoke, he slipped his card to the saleswoman.
Marina quickly pulled out her own card and handed it over, stopping Daron’s hand with a gentle touch.
“Let me do it,” she said.
Daron raised an eyebrow, but when he saw the stubborn look in Marina’s eyes, he just pulled his card back.

Hayley watched the exchange and spoke up in a calm voice, “There’s no need to argue. It doesn’t matter whose card we use.”
With that, she turned and walked over to the sofa to sit down.
The saleswoman quickly brought her some tea and water.
Zara walked over with her, smiling. “Alright, I’ll pick out another set for Mom.”
Hayley nodded.
Marina stood beside Daron, quietly letting out a breath. For some reason, even though Hayley was smiling when she said that, Marina couldn’t help but wonder if there was a hidden meaning behind her words.
It was like, whether it was her card or Daron’s, it all came out of Daron’s pocket anyway.
But Hayley’s attitude was so gracious, it almost made Marina feel like she was overthinking things.
Marina let out a silent sigh, waiting for the saleswoman to finish swiping her card and hand it back.
She signed the receipt, then glanced over at Hayley.
Zara was busy picking out a bracelet for Hayley, who looked gentle as she spoke softly.
“Find me a bracelet that matches the necklace Daron gave me. I want to wear them together at the family dinner tonight,” Hayley said.
Zara nodded and quickly asked the saleswoman to show them the newest bracelets.
Once they’d picked out the bracelet, Zara pulled out her card, ready to pay.
But Hayley gently stopped her. “You just got back, so keep some cash on hand for yourself. I’ll pay for this. When you start working at Zamora Group and land some big projects, you can buy me something with your own salary”
Zara clung to Hayley’s arm, sweet–talking her and showering her with compliments, making Hayley beam with happiness,
After Hayley paid and signed, Zara turned to Daron with a bright smile.
“Daron, you heard what Mom said, right? Once I join the company, you’ve got to put me in charge of a big project so I can score the highest commission and buy Mom some jewelry,” she said playfully.
Daron nodded with a smile, his answer clear
“Alright,” he said.

As Marina listened to Daron’s bright, upbeat voice, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of irritation. Out of nowhere, her mind flashed back to when Elnora had told her to interview at Zamora Group.
She discreetly pressed her fingertips together to keep her composure, keeping a polite smile on her face as she listened to Zara and Daron talk.
