Daron exposed Leo’s scheme without batting an eye, making people look at Leo differently.

“Dad, if you want Victor to marry into the Milner Family, just talk to the uncles directly. Why pull these tricks? It makes it seem like they aren’t reasonable at all,” Daron said, not holding back.
He kept stirring the pot, relentlessly pushing Leo into a corner.
Matthew, the second uncle, finally got the picture. He gave Leo a stern look and said with clear annoyance.
“Leo, Victor isn’t even back in the Zamora family yet. How can you talk about marriage with the Milner Family as if you’re speaking for us?” Matthew said.
Verena realized Daron had totally set this up, and sure enough, the elders were starting to get pissed, so she quickly tried to smooth things over.
“Uncle Matthew, you’ve misunderstood. Leo wasn’t thinking that at all. He was just trying to help Daron out,” Verena said.
Matthew let out a cold snort and snapped at her.
“Who do you think you are? You think you can just call me ‘Uncle Matthew‘ so casually? You have no place to speak in the Zamora family! Go stand at the back,” Matthew snapped.
Verena’s expression faltered at Matthew’s harsh words. She bit her lip.
Leo frowned, looking displeased, but didn’t say anything to defend Verena.
Seeing this, Victor quickly spoke up.
“Grandpa Matthew, she’s my mother. She gave birth to me for the Zamora family. Doesn’t she even deserve a seat here?” Victor said.
Matthew let out a cold laugh. “You’re not even in the Zamora family register yet. You’re not one of us.”
Victor was about to say something else, but Verena quickly patted his shoulder, signaling him to drop it.
She shot a look at Daron, seeing his arm casually around Marina’s waist. Biting back her frustration, she leaned in and whispered to Leo, “Leo, don’t forget what we’re really here for today.”
She thought, ‘Why did Marina suddenly announce her wedding? Obviously, she’s just here to throw a wrench in our plans. She wants to grab all the elders‘ attention and make sure Victor doesn’t get into the Zamora family register today‘
Verena rose from her seat and moved to stand behind Leo, looking for all the world like she was nothing more than hired help around here.
Matthew withdrew his gaze from her with a cold snort, then turned to Daron and said sharply, “Daron, you went and got married. It’s such a big deal, and didn’t even give the family elders a heads–up?
“Or is it that now you’re running the Zamora Group, you think you can just brush us old–timers aside?
Don’t forget, you’re not the only grandson in the Zamora family. There are plenty of talented kids in the other branches
too.”
Daron remained unfazed by Matthew’s accusations, his expression unchanged as he spoke in a calm voice.

“Grandpa Matthew, I’ve always said my marriage is my own decision.

“And let’s not forget, it was you who arranged the engagement with the Finley family in the first place. I’m just honoring the agreement you made back then.”
Matthew’s face darkened as he spoke in a low, stern voice.
“Yeah, the Zamora family and the Finley family did have an engagement, but Ms. Finley came here herself and called it off. She stirred up a whole mess. Did you forget that?
“You were the one who personally agreed to end it back then.”
Daron kept his cool, a faint smile on his lips.
“Grandpa Matthew, I honestly can’t remember ever admitting to breaking off the engagement,” Daron said.
“All I remember is telling her to leave. I never said the engagement was over.”
Seeing that Daron was clearly refusing to admit it, Matthew’s face darkened.
He spoke in a low, stern voice, “Anyone who takes the reins in the Zamora family, the elders always call the shots when it comes to marriage.
“Are you planning to throw out that rule?”
Daron shook his head. “Grandpa Matthew, how exactly am I breaking the rules?”
Seeing he couldn’t win the argument with Daron, Matthew quickly switched gears and turned to Marina, his voice low and
stern.
“Ms. Finley, wasn’t it you who came to the Zamora family to call off the engagement? Didn’t you keep insisting you didn’t want to marry Daron? Do you admit that you and Daron are done for good?”
He fired off those three questions, his tone aggressive and unyielding.
Daron’s brows drew together, his annoyance at Matthew’s tone plain for all to see.
“Uncle Matthew!” Daron called out.
His voice carried a clear edge of anger.
Marina straightened up, fixing her gaze on Matthew, her voice steady and unhurried.
“Grandpa Matthew, that betrothal letter the Zamora family sent to the Finleys? It’s still lying untouched in my grandpa’s study, Marina said.
Instead of responding to Matthew’s questions head–on, she simply brought up the betrothal letter.
Matthew’s face fell instantly
Daron raised an eyebrow, shooting Marina a sideways look. There was something complicated in his gaze.
‘Damn, I didn’t think Marina would be this prepared, Darou thought. ‘She shut down the hardest elder in the Zamora family with just one sentence.’
Edmund frowned and said gravely, “We never got rid of that betrothal letter. That was careless on both sides. But Ms. Finley

caused all that drama back then, and now she just shows up and marries into the Zamora family like it’s nothing. Isn’t that basically saying she doesn’t respect the Zamora family at all?”
Marina stood up and gave the Zamora elders a respectful bow.
Marina said, “I want to apologize. Back then, I was immature and reckless, and I caused trouble I shouldn’t have. I’m truly sorry to all the elders.
“My marriage to Daron was arranged by both our families‘ elders, so only they have the right to call it off. My grandpa never discussed ending it with the Zamora family, even up until the day he passed.
“And the Zamora family never officially notified us either. So in my eyes, the engagement between Daron and me was never called off.”
Matthew banged his fist on the table, his voice booming with anger.
“Utter nonsense!” Matthew barked.
“You think the Zamora family is just your stage to put on a show?”
Marina kept her head bowed, looking totally respectful and docile, not even a trace of defiance or disrespect.
“Grandpa Matthew, you’re being too severe. The Zamora family has always been someone I deeply respect, and I would never dare to make light of any of the elders here,” Marina said softly.
Matthew snorted coldly, his voice low and stern.
“Don’t act innocent. You’re bold as anything!”
Matthew snapped, “You kicked up a fuss to break off the engagement, and now you shamelessly marry into the Zamora family? You clearly couldn’t care less about us old–timers.”
Marina didn’t try to defend herself at all; she simply answered in a calm, respectful tone.
“I admit I was wrong,” Marina said softly.
Her humble response left Matthew at a loss for words.
He could only hold it in, his face flushing with anger.
Daron gave a quiet laugh, reached out, and pulled Marina back to his side, making her sit down next to him.
“Grandpa Matthew, my marriage to Marina is set in stone. No one can change that now, so don’t waste your breath getting mad,” Daron said with a relaxed smile.
Matthew’s face was dark as a cloud.
Matthew thought, ‘How could I not be pissed?‘
He was so mad he could barely breathe.
Matthew shot a look at Harris, who sat at the head of the table, silent and imposing, his eyes locked on Marina. Unable to hold back any longer, Matthew finally spoke up.
“Harris! Aren’t you going to say anything? Are you just going to let them run wild like this?

“Marriage isn’t something you play around with!” Matthew snapped.
Matthew’s voice cracked with anger, his frustration barely contained.
It was obvious he was absolutely furious.
