Chapter 312
Zara sat next to Hayley, and after hearing what she said, she gently grabbed Hayley’s arm and spoke in a soft voice. “Mor Ms. Finley is not such a person.”
Hayley pushed Zara’s hand away, and for once, she sounded really serious.
“Verena, this isn’t something you should get involved in,” Hayley said.
“You only met Ms. Finley today, so how can you be so sure about her? Signing these agreements is just to make sure you: brother’s interests are protected.”
“Besides, Ms. Finley already came to the Zamora family to call off the engagement before. Who knows if she won’t do th same and ask for a divorce from Daron in the future?” Hayley added.
Zara tugged at Hayley’s arm. “Mom…”
Hayley said quietly, still looking serious. “If you really can’t stand it, why don’t you go make us some drinks?”
Zara let out a soft sigh and replied, “Okay.”
As she rose to leave, she did not forget to say one last thing to Marina.
“Ms. Finley, my mom just cares about Daron a lot. I hope you don’t mind. She’s actually a really good person, but she just gets a little intense when it comes to Daron,” Verena said.
Marina kept her head down, scanning through the agreement, and replied softly. “I understand.”
Hearing that, Zara finally got up to make drinks for everyone.
While Zara was making drinks, Hayley pulled out another document and handed it to Marina, her voice serious. “Sign this
one too.”
Marina looked at the document and frowned.
“A divorce agreement?” Marina asked.
“Mrs. Blanchard, Daron and I just got married. Isn’t this a bit too much?”
“Is this your way of protecting Daron? Or did you sign something like this yourself when you got married?”
Hayley looked at Marina with a calm expression, her tone steady.
“I signed so many agreements back then, I honestly don’t even remember if I signed one like this.”
“But signing this one might not be a bad thing for you. Can you really be sure your marriage with Daron will last? Hayley asked.
“You’re smart, Ms. Finley, I’m sure you can guess why Daron married you. Can a marriage with no real feelings really last? Or are you prepared to end up like me when you hit middle age?”
Marina furrowed her brows as she listened to Hayley.
Hayley didn’t look at her, speaking in a flat, emotionless tone.
“Looking at you now, I see myself back when I first married into the Zamora family. I was just as excited as you are. But later.

I realized I was just a pawn someone to take the blame,” Hayley said.
“Do you know why Victor only got recognized as part of the Zamora family today? It’s because, in those early years focused all her plotting on me,” Hayley continued.
Marina frowned, thinking about how Daron got annoyed when she refused to make their marriage public in front of
She lowered her eyes, finally signed her name on the agreement, and handed it to Hayley.
Hayley took all the documents, gathered them up, and said softly, “Ms. Finley, if you and Daron truly care for each o this agreement will never need to be shown to him.”
Marina replied with a calm expression, “But how can you guarantee that if I ever want to leave. I’ll actually be able to signed agreement?”
Hayley looked Marina over, her gaze sharp and assessing.
Marina met Hayley’s eyes, noticing that Hayley’s lips curled into a slight smile. This time, it looked much kinder than before.
“You don’t need to worry about that,” Hayley said.
Just then, Zara finished making the coffee and brought it over, setting it down on the table.
Hayley handed all the documents to Zara and said softly, “Zara, put these in my private safe.”
Zara nodded, took the documents, and made her way upstairs.
Just then, Bette walked in from the living room. Hearing Hayley’s voice, she flashed a smile and asked. “What are you stashing away in your private safe?”
“Did you score something interesting again, Aunt Hayley? Mind if I get a peek?” Bette teased.
Hayley gave Zara a brief look.
Zara didn’t slow down at all when Bette showed up. She just kept heading upstairs.
Bette watched Zara vanish at the top of the stairs, then chuckled.
“Zara is so secretive. She totally heard me, but still hurried off. Wonder what she’s stashing away up there that’s so preciou
As she spoke, Bette walked over with a smile and sat down on the couch where Marina was sitting.
Hayley smiled gently and said softly, “It’s nothing special. You’ve seen all kinds of treasures growing up in the Blanchard family. My little things could never catch your eye.”
“You little rascal, you’re just looking for an excuse to tease me,” Hayley added.
Bette quickly said, “Aunt Hayley, how could I ever tease you? Besides, I wouldn’t dare. If I did, Daron would probably skin me alive.”
Hayley gave a gentle smile, didn’t respond to Bette’s words, and just changed the subject.
“What would you like to drink? Let me make you something.”
Bette glanced around the quiet courtyard and spoke softly. “How come there isn’t a single housekeeper around here?*

Hayley smiled, “Zara and I both like things peaceful. Having people serving us all the time just isn’t our style.”
“Plus, after living through some hard times, I’m really not the type to boss people around.”
Bette’s lips curled into a faint smile. She didn’t argue, just answered Hayley’s earlier question in a calm tone.
“Already had plenty of soup at dinner, so I’m good for now.”
As she spoke, Bette glanced over at Marina and asked casually, “Just wondering, Aunt Hayley, when did you and Ms. Finle become such good friends that you’d invite her over to your private courtyard?”
Hayley wasn’t exactly the warm and welcoming type.
Back in the day, Hayley poured all her energy into Daron. Once he started working, she adopted Zara, and now most of h attention was on Zara.
Hayley heard Bette’s words and replied softly. “She’s your brother’s wife; after all. How could I not be a little more welcoming?”
Bette had no clue that Marina and Daron were already officially married. She frowned deeply, her eyes narrowing as she gave Marina a thorough once–over.
Marina didn’t flinch under Bette’s sharp gaze, keeping her cool the whole time.
Seeing Marina’s calm attitude, Bette smirked. “No wonder Daron brought you over to the Zamora family house today.”
Earlier, when Bette spotted Marina in the main living room, she couldn’t help but wonder what was up.
It turned out that they’d already made it official.
That was why Daron finally brought her home.
Whenever Bette remembered how Daron had called just to warn her, she felt a wave of irritation.
“That punk actually had the nerve to warn me all because of a woman, Bette grumbled inwardly.
She snorted and didn’t bother to be polite with Marina anymore.
“Not bad, Ms. Finley,” Bette said with a smirk, her words dripping with sarcasm.
“Did you really force Daron to marry you this fast? Or wait… are you pregnant or something?”
As soon as Bette said that, Hayley immediately glanced at Marina’s stomach, her hand holding the teacup giving a noticeable shake.
