‘People in that circle are all about scheming and plotting. It’s not a surprise Kara was trapped. Those people could bide their time for years just to set up a perfect snare. Kara just happened to walk right into it at the right time, Marina thought.
“I think we should talk to Finn first,” Marina said. Kara looked up at Marina. Marina’s brow furrowed as she explained the situation to Kara.
Kara hadn’t really thought much about it initially, but now that Marina mentioned it, her heart skipped a beat.
With her fiery temperament, she would never allow herself to be taken advantage of like this. Yet that night, after the incident, she sobered up quickly. When she realized who the man was, she fled in a panic after a brief argument.
She didn’t dare make a big deal out of it herself. What she hadn’t expected was that the people behind the scenes had been waiting all along for her to blow the matter up.
Who knows, perhaps they’ve already set up other traps, just waiting for her to fall right in,‘ she thought to herself.
Kara bit her lip, racking her brain trying to recall how everyone at the dinner table had acted that night. ‘Who could be out to get me?‘ she wondered.
Most of the people at that dinner were folks she had known for years, people she saw all the time. She thought she knew them inside out.
Kara couldn’t figure out who would want to harm her. She ran her fingers through her hair in frustration, her voice tinged with fear. “I… I don’t really have the nerve to tell Finn,” she said.
Seeing Kara so distressed, Marina fell silent for a moment before speaking softly. “Do you want me to talk to Finn?” she asked.
Kara nodded repeatedly. “Yeah, I do,” she replied.
With Kara’s agreement, Marina and Kara made their way to Finn’s room together. Marina knocked on Finn’s door. Kara clung to Marina’s hand and hid behind her, too nervous to face Finn herself.
Soon, Finn answered the door. Marina flashed him a smile and said, “Finn, I’ve got something about Kara that I want to talk to you about.”
Finn’s eyes flickered with confusion as he saw Marina and Kara standing at his door. When he noticed Kara hiding behind Marina, looking guilty as hell, he could tell she must have gotten herself into some mess.
‘No wonder she’s been so quiet since she got back home this time,‘ Finn thought. ‘So, she must have screwed up, and now she doesn’t dare strut around like she owns the place in front of us.
“Come in,” Finn said. He glanced at Kara as he spoke.
Kara stuck close to Marina as they walked into Finn’s room together. As she passed Finn, Kara ducked her head, feeling sheepish.
As she passed Finn, Kara ducked her head, feeling sheepish. Finn arched a brow at Kara. Seeing her like this, it was obvious she’d messed up big time.
‘If it’s just some small thing, she wouldn’t look o freaked out, he thought.
“Alright, spill it. What did you do out there?” As soon as they stepped in. Finn closed the door and shot Kara a cold, serious look, his voice low and stern. It was a far cry from his usual laid–back vibe.

His eyes skipped right over Marina and locked onto Kara. Kara took a deep breath, hiding behind Marina, and said under her breath, “If I tell you, promise you won’t get mad at me.”
Finn narrowed his eyes, his voice turning icy. Let’s see just how much trouble you’ve gotten yourself into,” he said.
Kara bit her lip and gently tugged at Marina’s sleeve. Marina could tell Kara was way too freaked out to get the words out herself, so she looked up at Finn and said in a low voice, “Finn, Kara’s pregnant.”
As soon as Marina said it, Finn’s brows furrowed, and he gave Kara a stern gaze. But his reaction was way calmer than either Marina or Kara had expected.
“Pregnant? And the father just left you to face your family member alone? What a coward. Why would you even date someone like that?” Finn shot back.
Kara bit down hard on her lip, her lips pale with anxiety. “We weren’t dating.” Kara mumbled, her voice barely audible.
Finn’s expression slowly turned grim. Marina quickly jumped in, “Finn, Kara got set up. This is way more complicated than it looks, Marina said, her voice urgent.
Finn’s brows knitted together, his face so dark it looked like a storm was brewing. “Don’t tell me you don’t even know who the father is?” Finn said, his voice sharp.
Kara couldn’t bring herself to meet Finn’s eyes. “I know,” she said.
Finn’s voice was icy when he said, “Tell me.”
Kara mumbled, “Preston Burke.”
Finn just stared at her, speechless. As soon as Kara said it, the room went dead silent, the air thick with tension.
Finn’s cold expression gradually gave way to contemplation. Marina then recounted Kara’s ordeal to him at the right
moment.
After hearing everything, Finn gazed at Kara, standing quietly behind Marina, looking just like a kid caught doing something wrong.
When Kara saw Finn gazing at her with that stern look, she ducked her head even lower, guilt washing over her. After what felt like forever, Kara finally broke the tense silence.
‘Finn, I’ve thought it over. You don’t want to get married, and neither do I. But we can’t just let the Gross family line die out. Therefore, I want to keep the baby,” she said, her words trembling but resolute.
Finn furrowed his brows and didn’t say a thing. Kara’s voice was barely audible, trembling with uncertainty. “Will you let
me?”
Finn looked up at her, his gaze sharp. “If I say no, will you really give up on having this baby?” he said.
Kara nodded. “I know, whatever your reasons, you all just want what’s best for me. If none of you want me to keep this baby, then I won’t,” Kara said, her voice trembling with emotion.
When she spoke toward the end, the pain in her voice was hard to conceal. Finn glanced up at her, yet ultimately retrained from any words of blame.
He fixed his gaze on Kara and said in a deep voice, “Do you know who Preston’s girlfriend is
Kara nodded and said, “I only found out recently.”
