Marina fell into a deep sleep in Daron’s arms. Early the following morning, she opened her eyes and glanced at the time
Her movement must have woken Daron; he opened his eyes immediately after and looked at her, asking. Is your flight so early?”
Marina shifted in his arms to get comfortable and mumbled sleepily, “No. I’m just used to waking up at this time, it’s my body clock.”
Daron rested his chin on her head and said gently, “From now on, when you’re home, just sleep in as long as you want. Don’t worry about getting up early to pick out my clothes. I can handle it myself.”
Marina just let out a sleepy “mm,” not really taking Daron’s words to heart. Just two minutes later, her phone chimed with a notification.
Fully awake now, Marina opened her eyes and grabbed her phone to check the message. She remembered that Karas flight to Frency today was earlier than hers.
Marina glanced at her phone; it wasn’t a message from Kara, but from her sister Elnora, who had sent her some points to note for the meeting with the partners.
She read through the tips in detail and texted back: [Okay, I’ll keep that in mind.]
Elnora: [Stay safe.]
Marina: [Don’t worry, Elnora. It’s not that I’m going to Yorelia alone this time; I’m just showing up for the meeting. Once I get there, I’ll meet up with the factory’s person–in–charge, and we’ll give it our all to win the deal.]
Elnora just replied with a simple “Okay” and nothing else. Marina took the opportunity to send another message
[I’d like to drop by and see you before I head to Yorelia. Is that alright?]
Marina was worried that Albert might be with Elnora, and if they went over, they might be intruding on him. Elnora picked up on Marina’s cautiousness and replied immediately: [Of course. Just come over.]
Marina: [Okay.] Before ending the conversation, she added one more message. [Daron is with me.]
Elnora raised her eyebrow at Marina’s text and shot back a quick [Okay].
Yesterday, when Elnora met up with Marina, she had sensed something off. But since the Campbell family members were around, she didn’t ask what was really going on between Marina and Daron.
Now that Marina said she would be coming over with Daron, Elnora finally felt at ease. Daron might have a troublesome aunt, but he’s not completely clueless.
This marriage was something Daron desperately pushed for, so it’s only fair he has to deal with Marina’s hule emotional moments, Elnora thought to herself.
Elnora was confident Daron could manage Zara and Hayley’s situation. It he couldn’t even handle that, she and Finn would have a good laugh at his expense.
After putting her phone away, Marina immediately got out of bed “Elnora’s already up. I can take you to see her before 1
leave for Yorelia,” she said.
Daron had purposely made a trip to Port City, so she wouldn’t feel right if she didn’t take him to see Elnora. Moreover, she

Although Albert’s and Reese’s attitudes at yesterday’s dinner had been very clear, and Elnora didn’t reveal any obvious concern, Marina understood very well that encountering such a thing was deeply unsettling. No matter what, Elnora was Albert’s wife.
When people kept hyping up the relationship between Albert and his ex–girlfriend, she felt it was disrespectful and belittling
to Elnora.
Marina didn’t want Elnora to worry about her problem at this point, not when Elnora already had enough on her own plate.
Daron got up as well. Seeing Marina swiftly pulling his clothes out of the suitcase before rushing off to freshen up, he frowned slightly. He then started getting ready himself.
“Is your flight time tight?” Daron asked.
Marina, brushing teeth, mumbled back, “No, not mine, but Kara’s. I’m going to see her off.”
Since Kara would be gone for two years, Marina really wanted to see her off. No one knew when they would get to see each other again.
Daron asked casually, “Is she leaving for work?” Marina paused mid–brush and nodded silently, looking a bit down. Daron didn’t press further. After getting dressed, he joined her at the sink to wash up.
Marina got ready before Daron and went to knock on Kara’s door. Her door was still closed. Marina’s knocking drew the floor security guard’s attention, who came over and said respectfully, “Ms. Finley, Ms. Gross already left last night.”
Marina frowned. “She left last night? What time?”
The guard said, “Ms. Gross said she changed her flight to leave earlier. She wanted me to tell you she slipped out quietly because she was worried she’d get too emotional at the airport and might make an irrational decision. Thus, she decided to leave first.”
Marina was lost for words. Just then, Finn stepped out of the neighboring room. He happened to overhear the conversation between the guard and Marina.
Marina glanced at him, and they exchanged a look. Then Finn pulled out his phone and called Frency to make arrangements. After hanging up, he saw Daron step out of Marina’s room.
Daron glanced at Finn, noticing his rare serious expression, and asked in a calm voice, “What’s going on? You look so grim.”
Finn was rarely ever this serious around his friends. But he couldn’t help but worry about Kara’s matter. Soon, he shook it off and managed a smile at Daron. “When did you get here?”
“Last night,” Daron replied.
Finn raised an eyebrow and grinned. “You couldn’t even make it through the night, and rushed over? What? Are you worried I’ll run off with Marina?”
Daron walked over to Marina’s side and shot Finn a look. “Even if I lent you the nerve, you wouldn’t dare,” he said.
Finn scoffed. “That depends on whose nerve we’re talking about. If I borrowed yours, you sure I wouldn’t give it a shot?”
Daron chuckled at the response and stopped trading jabs with Finn. Finn turned to Marina and said, “Well, since your hubby’s here, I’ll leave the airport run to him.”
Marina nodded and said, “Alright, Finn. Go on and get to your work.” Finn nodded slightly, waved at Daron, and went back

Daron watched as Finn walked away, frowning. Just as the door closed, he turned to Marina and asked, “Did Kara cause trouble for Finn?”
