Seeing Marina go quiet, Daron knew he had guessed it right. Marina instantly looked up at him, held his hand back, and said, “My grandpa was just giving me advice and making plans for me, all to protect my future life.
“I was just a kid back then. It’s only natural for him to think about everything for me, right?”
Daron looked at Marina and suddenly recalled that when the news of her engagement broke, she was just seventeen. Girls that age barely know anything about the world.
That time, he was about to graduate from college and already set foot in the adult world. It was only natural for Cole to pla things out for her. Given Carter’s temperament, it made sense that Cole would think that way.
Seeing Daron wasn’t saying anything, Marina pressed her lips together and murmured, “Don’t be angry… okay?”
Daron’s eyes flashed with a hint of helplessness. “So in your eyes, I’m that easy to get pissed off?” he said.
Marina nodded earnestly. “Yes, you’re super easy to get pissed off. Especially lately.”
Daron was speechless, seriously thinking back on how things had been between him and Marina lately. Ever since they returned to the Zamora family, things had become tense between them. They kept bickering over the smallest matters
Marina looked up at Daron, forcing a smile. “I’m truly happy you came with me to Yorelia, and that you came all the way to Port City just for me. So I really don’t want us to fight about anything at all on this trip.”
Daron reached out and gently ruffled her hair, his voice soft. “I got it. I was the one at fault in the past.”
Marina pressed her lips together and turned her gaze away from Daron, her emotions swirling. So long Hayley and Zara aren’t involved, there’s really not much of a problem. Unfortunately, they’re precisely the obstacle between us, she thought
Marina took a silent breath and chose not to think about it anymore. She soon steadied her emotions, leaned against Daron’s shoulder, and said softly, “It’s still early. I’ll rest for a while.”
Daron nodded and replied gently. “Alright.”
As Marina’s mind settled, a thought occurred to her. She looked up at Daron and asked, “Yesterday, when Kara checked the tickets, business class for my flight had been sold out. How did you get a ticket?”
You can’t be buying the ticket already sold, can you?‘ she thought.
Daron replied, “I bought a first–class ticket. I had a word with the crew and got them to switch my seat with the person next to you.” So the person who was supposed to sit next to Marina got his ticket upgraded to first class.
Marina was speechless. The price gap between first class and business class flying from Port City to Yorelia was on a whole different level. She never expected Daron to go all out like that.
“You’re really a spendthrift,” Marina muttered, though deep down, she felt genuinely delighted.
Daron lowered his gaze and looked at her, saying, “For you, this isn’t even close to being a spendrift. And if it brings you this much joy, it’s absolutely worth it.” Marina pursed her lips, but a smile tugged at the corners of her mouth.
It was about an eight–hour flight from Port City to Yorelia. By the time they touched down in Yorelia, it was still late at night
due to the time difference.
Marina, with Daron, headed to the hotel she had previously arranged with her colleagues from the Finley Group. After checking in, she sent them a message.

Her colleagues arrived just about the same time as she did. As everyone had slept on the plane, no one was even a little sleepy after landing in Yorelia.
It was still about three hours before dawn in Yorelia. Seeing that Marina had arrived, everyone agreed to meet in her ro to review the post–client–meeting communication process to avoid any mistakes.
As Marina saw that her room had a cozy little sitting area, she agreed with them. As soon as Daron entered, he went stra to the bathroom to wash up. Since her colleagues were coming over, Marina knocked on the bathroom door to give hir heads up.
“We’re having a quick meeting about tomorrow’s work. When you’re done, feel free to get some rest,” she said.
Soon, there was a knock at the door, and Marina answered it. “Hello, Ms. Marina,” one of her colleagues greeted warmly
“Did you fly straight from Port City? Looks like you got here a bit later than we did. We came in from Vrufield,” the othe
said.
Her colleagues greeted her as soon as the door opened. Marina nodded, answered their questions, and got everyone set in before starting the meeting.
Just as their discussion was in full swing, the bedroom door opened from the inside, and Baron stepped out, wrapped a towel.
“Just now…” Daron started, his voice low. But before he could finish, he caught sight of the people sitting in the living roo In a split second, he spun around, ducked back into the bedroom, and slammed the door shut.
All the Finley Group staff were left speechless, thinking, ‘Who’s that just now? Daron? Wait, that’s Daron Zamora, the CE Zamora Group, right?”
Everyone’s eyes landed on Marina. A flash of embarrassment flickered in Marina’s eyes. She forced a smile, cleared her throat slightly, and tried to steer the conversation back to business. But clearly, everyone was distracted.
‘Daron Zamora, the CEO of Zamora Group, is actually in Ms. Marina’s room? What’s their relationship? This is a total bombshell; I must share this with others!‘ they thought to themselves.
Everyone was dying to gossip, and no one could focus on work. Finally, the factory manager spoke up with an authoritativ tone, pulling everyone’s attention back to work, even though he wanted to join in on the gossip, too.
After they finished discussing all the procedures and contingency plans for tomorrow’s client meeting, the person in charg led the rest of the staff out.
As they reached the door, one of the colleagues whipped out their phone, ready to share the bombshell that Daron was in Marina’s room, just in a towel and looking totally ripped. But Marina stopped them with a smile.
“I hope everyone here can keep what happened here today to yourselves. Daron doesn’t want this getting out either, and I’m sure it’s not hard for you to keep this under wraps,” she said.
“Just do me a favor; don’t say anything, okay?” she added.
As she spoke, Marina called out each person by name, making it clear she meant to tell everyone. The person who’d whipped out their phone quickly tucked it away, giving a sheepish grin and agreeing with Marina’s request.
“Don’t worry, Ms. Marina. We’ll keep this under wraps; nothing’s getting out from us,” he said.
Marina gave a satisfactory smile and replied gently, “Alright.”
“I remember every one of you. Once we’re back in Vrufield, I’ll make sure you all get a little thank–you gift,” she added.

Marina’s polite warning couldn’t have been more obvious. She was basically telling them she would clock every single person who saw what went down tonight. If word got out, even if she let it slide, Daron wouldn’t.
These folks had clawed their way up from the bottom level. Nobody would mess with Daron just for some juicy gossip. No way they would be that dumb.
