Chapter 401
“Go back to your own quarters,” Harris said.
With that, Harris rose from his chair and strode toward the study, leaving Hayley staring at his retreating figure.
Yes, Harris,” Hayley replied softly.
Once Harris had entered the study, she turned and headed out of the main hall.
Standing in the courtyard, Hayley glanced back, a trace of emotion flashing in her eyes.
Zara ran into Daron’s car halfway as she hurried back to the Zamora mansion.

She rolled down her window, ready to greet him, but Daron’s car brushed past hers without even a glance, making it clear he had zero intention of talking to her.
Zara’s eyes turned icy, and she couldn’t help but tighten her grip on the steering wheel.
Ever since Daron married Marina, he’d become a completely different person.
She remembered how different Daron used to be.
Zara gritted her teeth and sped toward the Zamora mansion.
Marina glanced out the window and spotted Zara poking her head out of her car.
She must have recognized Daron’s ride, Marina thought to herself.
Daron, sitting on the other side, was totally oblivious to any of this.
Marina just shot it a quick look, then leaned back in her seat and yawned.
Seeing this, Daron gently drew Marina into his arms, his voice soft and caring as he said, “If you’re tired, take a nap. I’ll wake you up once we’re home.”
Marina nestled against Daron’s chest, murmuring, “I’m not sleepy, just a bit tired.”
Daron glanced down at her, and sure enough, he could see the weariness etched on her face,
With Marina nestled in his arms, eyes closed, Daron kept quiet, simply holding her close and watching over her in silence
When they pulled up at the villa, the driver stopped the car.
The driver started to say, ‘Sir… but caught sight of Daron’s furrowed brow in the rearview mirror and unmediately clammed up.
Daron’s eyes flashed with irritation, clearly not pleased about being interrupted
The driver instantly fell silent, but in the next moment, Marina lifted her head from Daron’s arms, glances out the window and spoke up, “Are we there? Let’s get out.”
The driver immediately lowered his head, not daring to make a sound or meet Daron’s eyes.
Marina sensed the tension in the air and glanced over at Daron, saying, “What’s wrong?”

Chapter 401
Marina locked eyes with Daron, looking a little lost.
The driver scrambled out and opened the back door for them.
Daron got out, stopped, and offered his hand to Marina, who was still inside.
Marina leaned forward, slipping her hand into Daron’s palm as she got out.
Daron gave her a soft pull, and Marina ended up nestled against his chest.

Marina looked at him, a little confused. Daron just gave her a teasing smile. “You said you were tired, right? Let me hold
you.”
Marina just stared at him, speechless.
Seeing her cheeks flush, Daron slipped his arm around her waist, just as he was about to say something to her, his phone suddenly rang.
He glanced at the screen. It was a call from Zamora Group’s overseas branch.
Daron’s brow furrowed as he loosened his hold on Marina and picked up the call.
“Ken.”
Marina kept silent.
She knew Daron was talking to one of the higher–ups from Zamora Group’s overseas branch.
Leo and Verena had returned to Frency.
The marriage between Victor and Joyce was already settled.
The Milner Family seemed quite pleased with Victor.
Mostly, it was because Leo had put all his focus on Victor, assuring the Milners that Victor would get every asset under his
name.
Marina only heard about all this straight from Kara.
Kara and Chloe were always in touch.
Chloe was pretty tight with Joyce, so odds are Joyce was the one who let it slip.
When Marina heard all that, she wasn’t bothered at all. With Harris holding down the fort for Daron, he stood to gain way more than Leo could ever promise.
Even so….
Leo was still Daron’s father, after all.
It was unbelievable how far Leo’s bias went.
Sure enough, not all parents truly love their children.
When Wilhelmina died, Daron lost his mother’s love and any hope of ever having his father’s

No wonder Hayley meant so much to him.
Marina bit her lip softly, standing in silence by Daron’s side.
With Ken still on the line, Daron took Marina’s hand and led her inside.
Once inside, Marina went to pour herself a glass of water.
Daron walked over to the floor–to–ceiling windows, still on the phone.
He didn’t say much, just asked a few questions now and then, mostly staying quiet.
Every so often, he’d let out a short sound to let the other person know he was still listening
After taking a sip of water, Marina set her glass down.
About ten minutes later, Daron finally hung up.
He turned around and saw Marina standing right behind him, watching him.
Their gazes locked. Before Daron could say a word, Marina spoke up softly, “Do you need me to help you pack?”
Daron paused for a moment, then nodded. “Sorry to trouble you.”
Marina smiled lightly and said, “It’s nothing.”
With that, she turned and went upstairs to get Daron’s luggage ready.
Victor and Joyce were about to get engaged. With things heating up, Leo was bound to stir things up on his end.
The Milner Family had always set their sights on Daron as Joyce’s future husband
When Victor was picked, the Milner Family didn’t show any obvious displeasure.
However, after talking about the match between Joyce and Daron for years, having Joyce end up with Victor instead was kind of embarrassing for them.
No way they weren’t up to something shady behind closed doors.
Marina understood why Daron had been so busy lately.
Over at Zamora Group headquarters, Matthew was still lurking in the background, keeping a close eye on everything and waiting for the perfect moment to make his move.
Marina went into the walk–in closet to pack Daron’s luggage.
After she finished organizing Daron’s things and was about to reach for her own clothes, Daron reached out, stopping het. He spoke softly, “You’re not coming with me this time.”
Marina’s hand froze mid–motion. She hesitated for a moment, then quietly nodded, “Alright.”
Seeing that Marina didn’t ask for a reason and just nodded, Daron said, ‘Garret still isn’t fully back on his feet.
“If you stay at the office, he’ll have someone to bounce ideas off and get some help if anything comes up,”
Marina looked up at Daron, catching the serious look in his eyes as he explained.
