Chapter 404
Chloe walked over to Zara with a gentle smile. Seeing Zara about to leave, she gently took her hand, her eyes warm and
incere.
Ms. Blanchard, just so happens I need to talk to Garret, too. Come with me, Chloe said.
Zara was about to refuse when Chloe pushed open the half–closed door to Garret’s office,
Ms. Finley, Garret,” Chloe greeted them.
Zara gritted her teeth inwardly and forced herself to stand next to Chloe.
Garret and Marina both looked up at Zara at the same time.
Jnlike Garret, who kept watching Zara, Marina just glanced at Zara before looking away, with no intention of putting her on he spot.
Garret let out a quiet sigh.
He said softly, “Zara, if you have something to say, say it. No need to be so reserved. This isn’t the Zamora mansion. As long is it’s about work, you can speak your mind.”
Garret figured Zara’s awkwardness came from years of living as a guest at the Zamora mansion, which had left her feeling self–conscious.
Zara bit her lip and nodded.
‘It’s really nothing. I just wanted to ask where Daron went. He hasn’t come to the office. I saw you were busy, so I didn’t want o interrupt,” she said softly.
Carret replied in a gentle voice, “Mr. Zamora’s out on a business trip. If you need anything, let me know.”
Zara lowered her head. “Alright, Garret.”
Carret let out a quiet sigh and said softly, “Mr. Zamora’s out on a business trip. If you need anything, let me know.”
Zara looked up at Garret, a trace of confusion flickering in her eyes, but she nodded anyway
‘Alright, I understand,” she said.
Garret gestured dismissively, his tone flat, clearly not caring about Zara’s feelings at all.
“If you get it, get back to your desk, Garret said.
Zara nodded.
Marina just sat there, cool and collected, didn’t even look at Zara once.
Zara bit down on her lip, leaving Garret’s office with her heart feeling like it was trapped under a boulder. She could barely
breathe.
She’d figured Marina would rat her out to Garret, or maybe toss some snark her way as soon as she walked in. She’d braced
herself for all of it.
But what really threw her was that it was Garret who ended up giving her a hard time.

Marina sat there like a complete bystander, not even acknowledging Zara’s presence. It was as if she didn’t exist to her at all.
All the emotions Zara had been stewing inside fell apart.
She never expected Garret, who used to be so warm and easygoing with her, to turn so strict.
Right in front of Chloe and Marina, he didn’t spare her any dignity at all.
If the pitiful look she put on in front of Daron’s office was an act, leaving Garret’s office this time, she truly felt wronged, and there was a sting of humiliation she couldn’t shake.
Zara had never dared to cross Garret, not even once.
She knew better than anyone what kind of power and status Garret actually held in the Zamora family.
Garret treating Zara like that right before Marina was like grinding her dignity onto the floor, making Zara feel so small that she couldn’t even look up.
After Zara left, Chloe watched her go, not reacting at all.
She grabbed a seat next to Garret and joined him to go over Marina’s proposal.
Half an hour later, Marina left Garret’s office and made her way back to her desk.
She’d finished up her work for the day and had told Garret she’d be heading to the Finley Group soon.
So when she got back to her desk, Marina started packing up her things.
Bella looked up from her computer and glanced at Marina.
“You heading out already?” Bella asked.
Marina kept her tone cool as she replied. “I’ve got something I need to step out for.”
Bella asked, “Heading out for a project?”
Marina nodded. “Yeah.”
After everything that had happened, Bella had a clear sense of what Marina’s status was at the Zamora Group
Bella thought, ‘Marina isn’t an official employee. She is here for an internship or training
Mr. Zamora and Mr. Finley were old classmates, so when Mr. Finley sent his sister Marina over to learn from Mr. Zamora, there was no way Mr. Zamora would turn him down.
Besides, it seems like Mr. Zamora has a real fondness for Marina
‘Otherwise, he wouldn’t be personally guiding Marina
‘After all….
‘Mr. Zamora never even takes Zara under his wing
Bella chatted with Marina for a bit, then got back to work.
Marina finished packing up and was about to grab her bag when Calista got up from her seat and handed her a file.

“Ms. Finley, you’re not busy, right? Since you’re done with your work, mind taking care of this report for me? Celises veh
Marina glanced at the file Calista handed her. She didn’t even blink, her voice cold as the refined, “Not my y
Zara reached out and gave Calista’s sleeve a gentle tug.
“Calista, let me take care of it. I can help you, Zara offered quietly.
Calista spoke up right away, “Zara, you’re still new here. This kind of report is a bit much for you
“Better let Ms. Finley handle it.
“Ms. Finley, we’re all in this together. Didn’t you get the rundown on your first day in the executive office
“It’s your job to help me with this.”
Marina’s lips curled into a cool, unbothered smile.
She said, “Miss Rollins, it seems like you’re not exactly winning any popularity contests around here.
“You’ve been in the executive office for two weeks now. No one’s told you yet?”
Marina didn’t bother explaining herself. She just grabbed her bag and was about to leave.
Calista, clearly trying to show off in front of Zara, immediately called out to Marina as she saw her getting ready to go
“It’s not even time to clock out yet. Even if you say you’re heading out for a project, Ms. Finley, what project is it exactly We’re all on the same team. So why is it that none of us got any notice?”
Calista looked down at Marina with an air of arrogance about her, as if she were the heroic figure who dared to stand up against unfairness in the workplace at this very moment.
She was trying to rile up the other coworkers, hoping someone would join her in challenging Marina, the obvious nepotism pick.
After all, they all got here by working their butts off, while Marina just pulled some strings to get in
But Calista’s little speech didn’t get so much as a nod from anyone else. Her words just fell flat.
Bella, sitting next to Marina, gave Calista a look as she’d gone off the deep end.
Ever since that last incident, nobody had the guts to mess with Marina anymore.
Calista had been at the company for almost two weeks. Somehow, nobody had bothered to warn her about who Marina really was around here.
And…
Marina wasn’t just some nepotisin hire. She actually had real skills.
Her report at the annual meeting was impressive, and her proposals were also flawless.
