Elnora shot Albert a quick look, then naturally withdrew her hand and turned to Reese, saying, “It’s all thanks to your good taste, Reese.”
Reese smiled, handed it over, and said, “This is for you, to celebrate your recovery. I’m glad you like it.”
Elnora smiled. “Thanks, Reese.”
Reese replied, “We’re family, so don’t say that. Lunch is ready. Let’s go eat first.”
Elnora nodded and got up from the couch.
Marina quickly followed her, reaching out to lift Elnora’s hand for a closer look, a genuine smile on her face.
‘Even if Elnora can’t have a perfect marriage, having a mother–in–law who truly cares about her is still a blessing,‘ Marina thought to herself.
“It’s so pretty,” Marina praised softly. “The pink diamond looks amazing, and your hand is gorgeous too, Elnora.”
You’re such a sweet talker,‘ Elnora replied with a smile.
As soon as Elnora finished, Albert, still lounging on the couch, chimed in coolly, “Indeed, so beautiful.”
Upon hearing the words, Elnora paused for a brief moment. Then, she gently pursed her red lips and forced out a faint smile. Rather than responding to Albert’s remark, she followed behind Reese and led Marina toward the dining room.
Seeing this, Albert, sitting in his seat, raised an eyebrow, his gaze lingering on Elnora’s retreating figure.
After they sat down, Albert still hadn’t entered the dining room.
The servants had already served the dishes.
Seeing Albert still hadn’t come in, Reese told a servant to go and get him.
The servant left the dining room and came back a moment later, saying, “Mrs. Campbell, Mr. Campbell just got a call. Looked like something came up, and he headed out.”
Reese frowned at these words, her expression darkening instantly.
It was just because Marina was there that she held back her anger and said in a low voice, “That brat. He’s already home, yet he won’t even stay to have dinner.
I’ll call him right away and tell him to come back.”
With that, Reese was about to take out her phone when Elnora reached out and placed her hand on the back of Reese’s, smiling gently as she said, “Reese, Albert might have work matters to attend to. Let him go.”
Reese frowned, looking at Elnora for a few seconds before letting out a helpless sigh and saying, “You spoil him too much. Even if he’s busy, he should eat first before heading out.
“That stupid entertainment company of his, it’s not like the whole place will collapse without him.”
Elnora just smiled. “He’s busy with work, that’s all.”
Reese took a quiet breath and didn’t continue with the topic. Instead, she put her phone aside, picked up her tork again, and

said, “Let’s not talk about him. Let’s eat.”
As Reese spoke, she turned her gaze to Marina and said with a smile, “Marina, please don’t take offense at this.”
Hearing that, Marina pressed her lips together and glanced at Elnora.
Elnora looked totally unfazed, not the least bit upset, and that put Marina at ease.
“Don’t worry about it, Mrs. Campbell. Albert’s got work to handle. It’s totally understandable,” Marina said.
Reese nodded, keeping her polite smile, but the frustration was still visible in her eyes.

After lunch, Reese asked Elnora to take Marina for a walk in the yard while she headed to the study to handle some work.
Reese was a legend in Port City.
The reason why she had taken a liking to Elnora was that Elnora reminded her so much of herself when she was young.
Ever since Albert’s father passed away, Reese had single–handedly held onto the family business.
But Albert was rather unimpressive.
He never made any big mistakes, but he was always tripping over the little things.
Reese loved him to bits, but he drove her crazy at the same time.
Albert couldn’t care less about taking over the Campbell family business. Instead, he poured all his energy into his entertainment company.
That was why Reese set her sights on Elnora.
Elnora and Marina were out in the yard talking for quite a while.
About an hour later, Albert, who had gone out to handle some matters, returned home.
Elnora looked a little puzzled when she saw Albert.
Albert noticed the look in her eyes and said, “Mom called me back.
“She said your folks are visiting, and it’d look bad if I, as your husband, weren’t around.”
Awkwardness flickered in Elnora’s eyes when she heard his words.
“Sorry,‘ she murmured.
Albert saw how polite she was and looked away.
He lounged on the couch, answering offhandedly, “Don’t worry about it. Mom is actually right. You two go ahead and chat Just ignore me,”
With that, Albert pulled out his phone, not paying much attention to Marina and Elnora.
Marina frowned at his attitude.
She glanced at Elnora, but Elnora acted like Albert didn’t exist and kept the conversation going with Marina.

So Marina shifted her focus back to Elnora.

Albert spent the entire time slouched on the couch, engrossed in his phone. It was unclear who he was messaging, as his fingers danced ceaselessly across the screen.
Occasionally, he would let out a few chuckles.
Marina glanced at Elnora, who looked totally unfazed, so she just swallowed her annoyance and kept quiet.
After Daron had taken care of the matters at Cloudstorm Group, he came to Port City.
When Daron arrived at the Campbell family’s residence, Albert finally put his phone away and went to greet Daron.
Perhaps it was because the conversation flowed more easily among men, but Albert didn’t even glance at his phone again until after dinner.
Marina and Daron had dinner at the Campbell family’s place.
After dinner, Elnora took her medicine.
The meds made her feel a bit drowsy.
Marina couldn’t bear to see Elnora, who had just recovered, spending so much time and energy hosting and accompanying 1er. So she quickly urged Elnora to go and rest, while she and Daron took their leave of the Campbell family.
Albert walked them out of the house.
As they reached the front gate, Marina glanced at Albert, wanting to say something but hesitating.
n the end, she chose not to speak, fearing her words might disrupt the relatively harmonious atmosphere between Elnora ind Albert.
Albert caught Marina’s hesitation. After she got in the car, he bent down to the window and reassured her, “Don’t worry. Elnora won’t be mistreated in my family.
My mom totally dotes on her. She basically treats Elnora like the future head of the family.”
Marina moved her lips, then replied in a low voice, “Thanks for taking such good care of my sister. I really appreciate it.”
Albert raised his eyebrows, waved his hand, and then stood aside with his hands in his pockets.
Jaron told the driver to start the car, and the car pulled away from the Campbell family’s residence.
Marina let out a soft sigh and leaned her head on Daron’s shoulder.
Daron lowered his gaze to the woman in his arms and said softly, “Relax. Your sister’s no pushover. Nobody’s going to mess with her.
‘She knows her place in the Campbell family, and she’s not the type to step over any boundaries that could let her get hurt.”
