Chapter 466
Marina kept her expression neutral, pulling her gaze away from the documents in Henry’s hand. She replied calmly, “Yeah. what a coincidence
Yeah, what a coincidence!”
Henry’s assistant came in and hit the button for Emeric’s office, Marina had been planning to see Emeric, too. But when the saw Henry heading that way, she just pressed the button for the project team’s office downstairs instead.
Henry raised an eyebrow and asked softly, “You work in Finley Group’s project team?”
Marina nodded. “Yeah.”
Henry knew Marina had once started a business with Lavern. If Lavern hadn’t crossed the line, Ross Group would be a major player in Sicester by then.
But the Gill family’s factory was struggling. They could only keep it afloat by renting it out to big companies. If Henry could have a supportive partner like Marina, the Gill family’s factory would definitely turn things around.
“Marina, have you ever thought about going out on your own again?” Henry asked. “Honestly, with your talent, settling for a project manager role is really selling yourself short.”
Marina just kept quiet, not bothering to respond to Henry’s question. Back when she was in Sicester, almost nobody realized she was actually tied to the Finley Group. She’d always kept that under wraps. Additionally, Henry was just some guy from their high school days, so of course, he had no clue.
Seeing Marina stay silent, Henry thought she must really be considering his question. He couldn’t help but smile. Someone who’s been a boss before would never be happy just working for someone else,’ he mused, ‘And I guess Lavern’s betrayal hurt her badly.
‘If I give her enough warmth and attention now, she’d definitely come running to me! A scheming look flickered in Henry’s eyes, but he just flashed a smile.
“Marina, you know, I’ve got some ideas brewing, and I’m thinking about finding a partner, Henry said. “Let me wrap up my work first, then I’ll give you a call, and we can have a proper chat.”
Marina kept her tone cool as she turned Henry down. “Sorry, but I’m really not thinking about starting anything new right now.” She just wanted to make sure the Finley Group stayed on track.
The Finley Group had only just survived a critical moment, and there was still a long way to go. She was determined to restore the Finley Group’s former glory with her sister.
Right as Marina finished speaking, the elevator reached the project team’s office floor. The doors opened, and Marina walked out immediately.
Henry didn’t get upset when Marina turned him down without a second thought. He just kept that gentlemanly smile on his face, playing the part of a classy gentleman, looking all composed and unbothered.
“How do you know you won’t be interested if you don’t even hear what I have to say?” he said, trying to persuade her. “Just wait for my call,” he added.
With that, Henry reached out and pressed the close button. His assistant stood nearby, eyeing Henry curiously. Even as a fellow man, he could pick up on that determined vibe coming off Henry. The kind that said he wasn’t about to take no for an
answer.

Once Henry walked into Emeric’s office, they hashed out the terms and signed the contract. Only then did Henry finally breathe easy. Even though there were a couple of small issues, Emeric didn’t sweat it and just went ahead and rented the Gill family’s factory, no questions asked.
Henry knew that ever since the Finley Group cleared its debts, things had been on the upswing. If he could get in good with the Finley Group, his family’s factory wouldn’t be in danger of shutting down.
But still, it was just a rental arrangement. Since they weren’t earning profits from their own contracts, the money coming in was always too little.
Henry was ambitious. He was determined to get his family’s factory back on its feet. But the market had been rough, and most foreign clients only trusted large companies. For a small factory like theirs to shine, chances were getting slimmer.
After leaving the Finley Group, Henry had his assistant drive him out. As the assistant circled to the back of the car, he spotted some fresh dents on the rear bumper and quickly said to Henry, “Sir, your car’s been rear–ended?”
Henry sat in the back seat, nodded, and instead of looking the least bit annoyed, there was even a hint of amusement on his lips. Seeing Henry’s reaction, the assistant couldn’t help but think of that woman they’d run into in the elevator earlier. ‘Bet it has something to do with her that Henry’s car got rear–ended.
A curious glint flashed in the assistant’s eyes, and he couldn’t help but ask, “Sir, that woman we bumped into in the elevator. Care to share her story?”
Henry’s lips curled into a faint smile as he replied, “You remember Ross Group?”
The assistant nodded. “Yes, I remember. It was the dark horse of Sicester. It was really taking off in the first half of the year. and everyone thought it was about to break out of Sicester. But lately, it’s just vanished. I heard the Zamora Group bought it out. Rumor has it that there was an issue amongst the shareholders, so the main shareholder ended up selling Ross Group.”
Henry smiled and said, “Marina. She’s the one who started Ross Group. Do you remember Lavern? At the beginning, he was working under her.”
The assistant was clearly taken aback, his eyes full of surprise. “Wow, I never would’ve guessed. She looks so young, but she’s got some skills,” he said, genuinely impressed.
Henry’s lips curled into a faint smile. Back then, he’d always paid attention to what was going on with Marina and Lavern. After he started college in Vrufield, following his family’s wishes, he didn’t stay in Sicester. From then on, he only heard about Marina and Lavern through word of mouth.
Once he learned Marina and Lavern had gotten together, he just stopped following their story. Still, over the years, he kept in touch with Lavern.
But Lavern never once introduced Marina to him or brought her along to meet up. He didn’t expect that after all these years, he’d end up bumping into Marina at Finley Group’s office. ‘Maybe it was just meant to be,‘ Henry thought.
Suddenly, Henry could feel that old spark from his youth for Marina reignite. But he fought the urge to call Marina right away. Henry thought to himself, ‘She’s probably swamped at work right now. If I call her, I’ll end up bothering her.
Henry held off until after work hours, and only then did he finally call Marina. As he waited for her to pick up, Henry gripped his phone a little tighter, unable to shake off a sudden wave of nerves.
A few seconds later, the line connected. Henry jumped right away, his voice low with a hint of roughness. “Marina, are you off work yet?” Henry asked.
But just as Henry finished speaking, a deep, assertive male voice suddenly came through the line. “Hello, is this Mr. Henry?” the man asked.

Earlier that afternoon, Marina had already told her assistant, Chuck Styles, about rear–ending Henry’s car and asked him to handle all the follow–up for the accident.
Henry hadn’t expected a man to answer his call. His eyes flashed with confusion. He frowned, unable to hide his surprise. “Who is this?” Henry asked.
Chuck answered politely. “This is Chuck Styles, I’m Ms. Finley’s assistant.”
Henry was momentarily speechless. Seriously? Marina gave me her assistant’s number?‘ Henry thought, a little thrown off.
He took a deep breath, gritted his teeth, but since it was Marina’s assistant, he forced a friendly tone.
“Oh, hello, Mr. Styles, Henry said, trying to sound as amiable as possible. “Is Marina busy right now?” he asked.
Chuck spoke politely. “Ms. Finley has already left the office. But don’t worry, Mr. Henry. She told me about the accident and asked me to sort it out with you.”
Henry could only grit his teeth and grudgingly mutter, “Alright.”
