Marina withdrew her gaze with an indifferent air.

She thought to herself, “That restroom excuse is just a front–she’s really here to spy on me and Mr. Zamora
Honestly, everyone at this party was a seasoned player.
Marina stepped into her room, only to find Daron already lounging in her vanity chair, looking like he owned the place.
His long, elegant fingers were massaging his forehead–he’d clearly had too much to drink and was feeling the effects.
Marina walked over and said softly, “Mr. Zamora, should I have someone downstairs make you some hangover soup?”
Daron opened his eyes, gave her a quick look, and replied in a flat tone. “No need. I’m worried you and your sister are trying to trap me.”
Marina couldn’t help but feel a little awkward.
She admitted to herself that she and Elnora had definitely plotted against Daron, but it was all out in the open -she’d even come clean to him about it.
She was working for Daron, and he was just going along with their little show. He wasn’t getting the short end of the stick here.
“Mr. Zamora, you’re already in my room. If there was a trap, you’d be stuck in it now,” Marina said. “We’re on the same team now. I’m not plotting against you.”
Daron shot her a cool glance, didn’t bother to reply, and simply closed his eyes, shutting her out as he tried to
rest.
Marina left him alone, quietly settling on the edge of her bed and shooting Elnora a quick text.
[Hey sis, when can I come downstairs?]
Elnora didn’t reply right away.
[Hang tight until the guests clear out. How’s Daron holding up?]
She glanced at Daron, who was sitting in the vanity chair, resting his head on one hand with his eyes closed.
His usual intimidating vibe had faded a lot–he was so quiet now, he looked like he might’ve dozed off.
[Looks like he’s drunk.]
Daron already reeked of booze when he got back from the office this afternoon, and tonight, people kept raising their glasses to him. Even if it was just champagne, with that much going around, no one could hold

their liquor.

Elnora didn’t reply again.
Marina put her phone away, walked over to Daron, picked up the thin Market from her bed, a comedep with it.
She moved carefully, making sure not to disturb him.
Just as she was about to head downstairs and ask Gauri to make some hangover soap, Marine spoed a shadow moving past the crack under her door, probably with their ear pressed to the door
Marina frowned, her expression tightening as she wondered who was lurking, conside
Just as Marina was hesitating about whether to throw open the door and bus the eavesdropper, along arm suddenly snaked around her waist.
She jolted in surprise as Daron pulled her straight into his arms.
“Mr. Zamora, what are you doing?” Marina gasped.
She found herself sitting on his lap, her heart racing and the shock on her face imposible to hide.
Daron placed a finger gently over her lips, his gaze shifting toward the door
With his finger still on her lips, Marina unconsciously held her breath, her face turning a deep shade of red
Daron looked at her fluttering lashes and the shock in her wide eyes, and for some reason, a rush of hear stirred inside him, traveling down.
He frowned and let his hand fall away.
“Turn off the lights,” Daron murmured.
His voice was low and rough, oozing a kind of raw sexiness.
Marina nodded and tiptoed over to switch off the lights.
She stood still for a moment, waiting until the footsteps faded away outside.
Marina let out a quiet sigh of relief, but as she was about to turn the lights back on, Daron’s low voice cut in. “Don’t.”
Marina didn’t get it, but she did as told and kept the lights off.
Maybe Daron thought whoever was outside might still be hanging around, trying to listen in.
Marina stood quietly by the light switch, having no idea how long she’d been there. Figuring whoever was outside had probably left, she whispered softly. “Mr. Zamora, is it okay now?”
She strained her eyes, trying to make out Daron’s silhouette in the darkness.

Daron didn’t answer.
:
Marina pressed her lips together, wondering if he’d just passed out from the booze.
After a moment’s hesitation, she started toward Daron.

But she’d barely taken two steps when Daron, sitting in the shadows, growled at her in a low, gruff tone. “Get
out.”
Marina blinked in surprise, her eyes darting to the door.
‘He wants me to leave?‘ she thought, a little thrown off.
“Me?” Marina whispered, barely audible.
“Yeah,” Daron grunted, his voice hoarse and low.
“Should I turn the…” Marina thought, ‘It’s pitch dark and he’s wasted. If he trips or bumps into something in my room, I’ll be the one in trouble.‘
“Get out,” Daron only gave her that one word, but there was an undercurrent in his voice that Marina couldn’t quite read.
Marina hurried out of the room.
It was her room, but she was the one who got kicked out.
”
‘Who am I supposed to complain to about this?‘ Marina thought, feeling a little helpless.
Daron was already a handful on a normal day, but after a few drinks, he was impossible to deal with.
Marina scratched her head, feeling a headache coming on, and headed downstairs.
Most of the guests had already left, but a few remained, sitting on the living room sofas and chatting with Elnora.
Among them was the elegant lady Marina had encountered upstairs.
Marina arched an eyebrow, thinking, ‘Seems like these folks are convinced about my connection with Daron, so they’re itching to reach an agreement with Elnora tonight and get ahead of the game.‘
As she came downstairs, everyone turned to look at her, their smiles practically dripping with flattery, clearly trying to win her over.
Someone just came right out and asked. “Is Mr. Zamora already asleep?”
Marina pressed her lips together, keeping her answer vague and polite, not wanting to give too much away.
“He had a bit too much to drink, so I’m here to get him some hangover soup,” she replied.
Elnora was lounging in an armchair off to the side, giving Marina a gentle look.

“Go on, hurry up,” Elnora said softly.
Marina nodded and quickly made her way into the kitchen.

She could still catch bits and pieces of their conversation drifting in from the living room.
Elnora was a natural at negotiations. Even with everyone eager to buy the land, she didn’t break a sweat–just talked them down, telling them to take their time and think things through before making any decisions.
The calmer Elnora stayed, the more anxious they got, all scrambling to get ahead of the pack.
Marina let out a quiet sigh of relief, knowing that with Elnora taking charge like this, she had the whole game locked down.
This whole outcome was thanks to Daron’s cooperation.
After everything tonight, the pressure on the Finley Group had finally eased up. They could pay off a chunk of the loan now, and as for the rest, there was still room to negotiate with the bank.
Marina came out of the kitchen with the hangover soup, spotting the guests still lounging on the sofas. She flashed them a friendly smile and said, “I made some extra hangover soup–feel free to have a taste.”
The guests grinned and thanked her, their voices full of playful teasing.
“Much appreciated, Ms. Finley! Looks like we’re cashing in on Mr. Zamora’s luck tonight, getting to try your homemade hangover soup,” one of them joked.
Marina smiled, her tone gentle and easygoing.
“No need to thank me. My cooking’s nothing special, so I hope it’s okay. If it’s not to your liking, please go easy on me,” she said.
Everyone started flattering her again.
Marina didn’t stick around to chat. She had Gauri serve the hangover soup to the guests, then took a bowl upstairs herself–leaving them with plenty to gossip about and giving Elnora the spotlight to work her magic.
