Why was she calling him now? After all this time? And why did he still have her number saved with those stupid heart emojis?
I heard the shower turn off and quickly grabbed my phone, pretending to be absorbed in it. My mind raced with questions. Should I tell him? Would he be angry that I saw the photos?
Alexander emerged from the bathroom with just a towel wrapped low on his hips, water droplets still clinging to his chest. Any other time, the sight would have had me ready for another round, but now all I could think about was Katherine and those heart emojis.
“See something you like?” he asked, catching me staring.
I forced a smile. “Just admiring the view.”
He walked to his closet, dropping the towel without a hint of modesty. I watched his muscular ass as he bent to retrieve a pair of boxer briefs.
“Your phone was ringing,” I said casually, keeping my voice light. “Several times, actually.”
Alexander paused for a fraction of a second before continuing to dress. “Probably work. I’ll check it later.”

He pulled on a crisp white shirt, buttoning it with practiced efficiency.
