Chapter 502
Wendy immediately frowned, clearly displeased with Zara’s decision.
“No way. If you walk out, who’s going to run this place?” she said.
“Aren’t you the one sent by the higher–ups?” Zara shot back.
Zara bit down on her lip, her sharp gaze sizing up the entire company in an instant.

Her expression turned icy as she yanked her hand free from Wendy, no longer as courteous as when she first arrived.
“I absolutely refuse to stay in this company,” Zara declared. With that, she turned to leave.
But Wendy quickly grabbed her arm.
“Honestly, this place isn’t nearly as bad as you think. And let’s be real, it’s tough to find a cushy job like this nowadays, Wendy tried to reason, her tone almost pleading.
Zara shook off Wendy’s grip, her eyes cold. “You really think everyone wants to waste their life away here like you do?” she shot back, her voice dripping with disdain.
Wendy’s expression soured, clearly stung by Zara’s words. She snapped, “I’m your direct supervisor now. If you want to quit. fine. Hand over your resignation letter and I’ll sign off on it right away.”
“That way, I can get someone new assigned from upstairs. Don’t hold me up.”
Zara’s expression turned icy. She typed up her resignation letter, finalized it in her inbox, and hit send, forwarding it straight to Wendy.
Wendy signed it right away, no fuss.
Zara didn’t hesitate for a second. She turned and walked out.
Wendy watched as Zara stepped into the elevator and disappeared. Only then did she pull out her phone and dial a number
“Ms. Blanchard, I’ve handled everything just as you instructed,” Wendy said.
“Zara really didn’t want to stick around here,” she added, a hint of resignation in her voice.
Bette just hummed, her tone indifferent. “Then go ahead and report to Daron right away
Wendy didn’t hesitate to say yes.
After ending the call, Wendy wasted no time and shot Daron a quick update about what had just happened
At the Blanchard residence, Bette lounged on the sofa, the photos she’d just gotten from the paparazzi sull churched in her
hand.
A cold, mocking smile played at her lips.
I knew it. Zara and Hayley were never the type to keep their heads down, Bette mused

With a casual flick of her wrist, Bette sent the photos flying, landing them squarely in the trash can.
The paparazzo who’d just snapped the shots paused, looking up at Bette, clearly puzzled.
“Ms. Blanchard, don’t these photos mean anything to you?” he asked.
Bette smirked, pulled out her phone, and transferred some cash his way.
“Good enough. Keep tailing them,” she said.
The paparazzo’s eyes lit up with excitement as the money hit his account. He quickly thanked Bette.

“Ms. Blanchard, you can count on me. If anything changes with Zara, I’ll let you know right away,” he promised.
Bette nodded and told the butler to see the paparazzo out.
The paparazzo bowed and scraped, practically groveling as he said his goodbyes to Bette.
Once he was out of the Blanchard residence, he couldn’t hide his excitement.
He’d been tailing Hayley and Zara for quite a while now.
When Hayley left Vrufield, he figured his income would take a hit since he’d only be following Zara.
But to his surprise, Bette kept paying him just as generously as before.
After leaving the company, Zara reached out to Martin that very night.
When Martin saw Zara’s name pop up on her phone, she wasn’t surprised at all.
She knew Zara couldn’t handle Daron’s cold treatment for long–she’d end up in his arms sooner or later.
After Hayley moved abroad and Zara left Daron’s company, Marina realized she hadn’t seen Zara in a long time.
As for Marina and Daron, things were finally back on track for them.
Soon enough, it was time for the Zamora family’s monthly family banquet.
Marina and Daron made their way back to the old mansion early,
These days, Harris was the only one living in the Zamora family’s ancestral home. Whenever Daron finished work carly, he’d come over to keep Harris company and chat for a while.
Marina had stepped in for Hayley, taking care of the menu for the family banquet.
After not seeing her for ages, Zara tagged along with Martin to the Zamora Mansion
Martin walked in, arm around Zara, and Harris’s brows drew together in a slight frown
Martin looked totally chill as he greeted Daron and Harris.
“Grandpa Harris, Daron,” he called out.
Harris glanced at Martin, then at Zara at his side. He gave a slight nod and said in a calm voice. So, Martin, you brought your girlfriend to the family banquet today? Are you planning to get engaged

“So, Martin, you brought your girlfriend to the family banquet today? Are you planning to get engaged?”
Zara’s expression grew complicated the moment she heard Harris’s words.
She took a deep breath, her gaze instinctively drifting toward Daron.
But Daron was focused on his chess piece, quietly contemplating his next move.
It was like he hadn’t heard a word Harris said, or even noticed them coming in.
Martin had expected Harris to say something to shut Zara out.
But instead, Harris just teased him in a calm, almost joking tone.
Matthew immediately frowned, shooting Martin a displeased look.
Martin loosened his hold on Zara and grinned, “Come on, Grandpa Harris, you’re just messing with me.”

Harris kept smiling and said, “It’s the first time you’ve ever brought a girl home. Since it’s just family tonight, I figured maybe you’re about to make things official.”
Martin was thrown off by Harris’s gentle teasing, and for a moment, he was at a loss for words.
He gave an awkward smile and dropped his arm from around Zara, awkwardness written all over his face.
Matthew strolled over to Daron, bent down, and smirked. “Daron, you really botched that move.”
“Put it there and you’re basically letting your grandpa win, aren’t you?” he teased.
But before Matthew could finish, Daron went back and forth with Harris a few times, then coolly took control of the board again.
Daron set down his chess piece, glanced up at Matthew with a modest look, and said, “You’re right, Uncle Matthew. I’m still young and don’t have much experience. I really should learn more from the elders.”
Matthew was used to Daron’s defiant streak, so seeing him suddenly act all humble and polite, he couldn’t quite get used to
- it.
He cast Daron a curious look, trying to figure out what was going on.
But Daron just got up and gave up his seat to Matthew.
Harris chuckled, “Matthew, let’s play a couple of rounds. Martin’s still on his way. He just called, said he’s stuck in traffic”
Matthew nodded and took the seat across from Harris, and soon enough, the conversation started drifting toward the Zamora Group.
“Martin’s been developing something behind the scenes lately, and it’s already seeing some promising results, Matthew said.
“Harris, once this gets rolling, the Zamora Group will be on a whole different playing field in Vrufield, and all over the country,” he added.
Harris raised an eyebrow, curiosity flickering in his eyes. “Oh? Just what kind of project is this that’s got you so worked up

Matthew immediately pressed a finger to his lips, signaling for everyone to keep quiet
“Harris, we need to keep this under wraps for now. The project isn’t finished yet, and every bit of data from here on out is super important,” he said.
“If it works, it’ll benefit everyone on the planet,” he added.
“The Zamora Group will be famous both at home and abroad,” he said.
