Chapter 501
When Marina showed up at Daron’s office, she saw Zara stepping out.
The moment Zara saw Marina, she bowed slightly in respect.
“Good afternoon, Ms. Finley,” Zara greeted.
Marina looked away from her and walked straight into Daron’s office.
Zara stood frozen, staring at the closed office door for what felt like ages.

It wasn’t until Garret told her to pack up and, with the transfer notice in hand, head to the branch office that she finally snapped back to reality.
Only then did she return to her desk, lost in thought.
After gathering her personal things, Zara lingered at her desk, glancing at her colleagues who were all busy with their own work. She wanted to say goodbye, but seeing that no one cared about her leaving, she just let out a silent sigh and slipped out of the CEO’s office without a word.
She loaded all her stuff into the car and sank into the driver’s seat, the resentment in her eyes spilling over, impossible to hide.
‘If only I had come back to Vrufield sooner, Zara thought, regret gnawing at her. ‘Maybe then Daron and Marina wouldn’t have gotten so close so fast!
Zara was consumed by regret.
But everything she’d done recently had already left her image in Daron’s eyes beyond repair.
All she could do now was hope that her act of returning the money just now might soften Daron’s heart.
Zara drove away from Zamora Group, feeling utterly defeated.
On her way to the branch office, Zara kept wondering how she could ever find a way to return to Zamora Group
She was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn’t notice the car ahead suddenly hit the brakes, and she ended up rear- ending it before she could react.
Zara got out of her car, resigned, and went to see how badly the other car was hit
The driver in front still hadn’t gotten out, so Zara walked up to the driver’s window and tapped on the glass
“Hi, sorry about that… Zara started.
But before she could finish, she saw Martin watching her with a flirty smile, his bedroom eyes practically sparkling with
mischief.
“Zara, what are you up to? The road’s huge and you still managed to run into me, Martin joked
Zara lowered her head and murmured, ‘Sorry”
Martin kept that easy smile on tus face as he stepped out, checked his own car then gently rested a hand on Zara’y shoulder and spoke in a warm voice. Seriously, don’t sweat it. We’re Family Il halle the repairs myself?

As he spoke, Martin glanced over at Zara’s car and added casually,
“Let me take care of yours as well.”
Zara was about to refuse, but Martin’s smile suddenly took on a predatory edge.
“Zara, don’t reject your big brother’s goodwill,” he said, his voice suddenly more commanding

“I’m the one calling the shots in the Zamora family now. Every decision at Zamora Group, big or small, is up to me. I’m just as good as Daron, so don’t tie yourself to just one person.”
Zara sucked in a shaky breath, her gaze darting nervously to Martin.
Martin reached out and casually brushed a lock of Zara’s hair aside.
“I’ve heard all about what’s been happening with you and your mom lately,” he said, his tone gentle.
“Daron’s really cold–hearted, huh? After everything your mom did for him all those years, he just tossed you both our over some petty drama.”
“Good thing he’s not running Zamora Group anymore, or you’d have it way worse.”
Zara felt uneasy as Martin moved in too close, and she instinctively stepped back, trying not to draw attention.
But Martin just closed the distance again, not giving her any space.
“Zara, you know, sometimes you have to know how to read the room,” Martin said, his voice low and persuasive.
“Daron’s already shipped you off to the branch office. It’s obvious he’s done with you.
“There’s no way you can make a comeback at Zamora Group now.
“Come work with me at Zamora Group. I’ll give you a way better job, let you show what you’re really capable of. And I can give you everything you want. You’ll never have to worry about money or anything else.”
Martin reached out, pinching Zara’s chin and making her look right into his eyes, his voice smooth and seductive as he drew her in.
He saw the spark in her eyes. He knew he’d gotten to her.
Martin released Zara and pressed his card into her hand.
“Zara, this is how you can reach me,” he said, his voice smooth and tempting
“If you ever change your mind, just call me. I’ll help you reach new heights”
“I’ll put you right in the spotlight, where everyone will notice you‘
Zara lowered her gaze to the business card in her hand, her fingers trembling slightly
A place in the spotlight, where everyone would notice me she thought. And of course. Daron would see me there too
Zara took a deep breath. What had started as just a flicker of interest now felt like it was taking root in her heart
She didn’t give Martin an answer right away

Martin, playing the gentleman, gave her time to think it over.
“I’ve got a meeting later, but if you change your mind, just give me a call,” he said.
With that, Martin turned and walked away.

Zara watched Martin walk away, her eyes lingering on the business card in her hand. She slipped back into her car, started the engine, and pulled away, her mind still swirling with everything that had just happened.
When Zara got to the branch office, she couldn’t believe how rundown the place looked.
She’d known it wouldn’t be anything fancy, but she never expected it to be this cramped and tiny.
The office was crammed onto one floor of a shabby old building in the city’s old district.
Every single floor was stuffed with all sorts of small companies.
Even just waiting to check in and catch the elevator took ages–Zara was already getting impatient.
And when the doors finally opened, it was crammed full of people.
Zara felt like she was about to lose it.
The weird cocktail of smells inside was seriously getting on her nerves.
When the elevator finally reached her floor, she had to shove her way out.
By the time she squeezed out, the cardboard box in her arms was already battered and out of shape.
Zara clutched the box so hard her hands shook, and when she took in the sight of the shabby branch office, she felt like she was about to break down.
Ever since she was born, she’d never seen a company this rundown.
As Zara stood at the entrance, sizing up the rundown place, a middle–aged woman in a suit and glasses walked out from
inside.
‘You must be Zara? Your desk’s over there,” the woman said, gesturing with her hand.
Zara followed her gesture and spotted her desk shoved into a corner.
Most of the desks were empty. It looked like nobody new had started here in forever.
Zara took a deep breath before asking her question.
She glanced at the woman’s name tag, which read “Wendy Clark
Wendy, how many people are actually working here right now? Zara asked
Wendy held up two fingers.
Just the two of us,” she said.
Yep, it’s you and me.”
Zara was speechless.

Wendy gave her a friendly pat on the shoulder. “But soon, it’ll just be you. I’m getting transferred to another company too
Zara thought, ‘So this is what Daron wanted all along, sending me to this branch was his way of getting rid of me
‘He really has given up on me. There’s no going back now,‘ she thought, the truth hitting her hard.
Seeing Zara’s face fall, Wendy quickly tried to lift her spirits.
“Zara, don’t get discouraged. You’ve got youth and energy on your side, and the setup’s already done for you. If you’re willing to put in the work, hire some people, and apply for funding from upstairs, you could really turn this place around.
“And hey, even if you don’t end up making a name for yourself, Zamora Group will still pay you on time every month At least you’re not working for free.”
Zara didn’t say a word. She just turned on her heel and left the office, not even looking back. Her heart was heavy with disappointment.
Wendy ran after her for a bit.
“Hey, wait up! Where are you headed?” Wendy called out.
Zara took a deep breath, her voice icy as she replied.
“I’m quitting.” Her tone was cold and resolute.
‘I’m not about to waste my youth in a dump like this,‘ she thought, her mind made up.
