Chapter 519
Seeing that Martin had kept quiet the whole time, Matthew barked, “Did you hear me?”
Martin nodded. “Yeah, I heard you.”

Matthew continued, “I’m taking back every single share I gave you before. This whole mess is your fault, and the second branch of the Zamora family won’t suffer because of your mistakes.”
“Hand over the shares, and we’ll still give you a small monthly stipend to live on.”
Martin’s face darkened at those words.
‘Grandpa, if you take back the shares, does that mean I won’t have any standing in the Zamora family anymore?” he asked.
Matthew shot Martin a cold look and said, “Do you really think you still deserve a place in this family? Didn’t you get what Harris said at the shareholders’ meeting today?”
He continued, “He was mocking me for not caring about family ties. Sure, you could drag Garret to court, but he could never do the same to you.
Do you really think Zamora Group’s security would just let anyone stroll into the underground garage and block your car? That was all him, just to send you a message.”
Martin’s face turned ghostly pale at Matthew’s words.
f Harris really decided to go after him and the data forgery came to light, it wouldn’t just ruin his name. He could end up >ehind bars.
Gritting his teeth, Martin could only nod and accept Matthew’s terms.
That very night, Martin was sent abroad.
By Matthew’s order, all his social media accounts were deactivated.
For a while, it was as if the internet’s favorite second lead. The kind of devoted guy you’d only expect to see in a novel had never existed at all.
The internet was soon ablaze with rumors that Zara had been sued by Daron and was now under suspicion for perjury.
After Martin left, Zara’s social media had no one to manage it anymore.
The girls who’d been obsessed with her before kept going after her with a vengeance.
They photoshopped her face onto memorial photos and bombarded her inbox with hate.
Not that Zara ever saw any of it anyway.
She was locked up in a detention center, and no one paid her any attention.
The first night inside, Zara thought for sure Martin would pull some strings to get her out.
But three days went by, and not a single person reached out to her.
That was when Zara finally started to panic.

When she heard that Martin had been fired from Zamora Group, she knew he had abandoned her.
Now that Martin had skipped town and Zara was locked up, all that online hate aimed at Daron wasn’t nearly as bad as
before.
The people who had been bashing Daron and Marina online thought the whole thing was over and done with, that there wouldn’t be any more drama.
But little did they know, one by one, they started getting served with lawsuits from Daron and Marina.
Most of the ones who trashed Marina online for Zara were actually minors, just fifteen or sixteen years old.
When they got hit with lawsuit notices from Marina, they totally freaked out.
They rushed to contact Marina, sending her apology messages.
But Marina just left them on read, no replies, no mercy. If she said court, then court it was.
Suddenly, everyone who’d ever flamed Marina and Daron online started panicking. They tried apologizing at first, but when that didn’t work, they ended up begging for help all over the internet.
No matter what tricks they pulled, Daron and Marina wouldn’t back down. These haters even formed a little group to boycott Marina and Daron.
Their antics just turned them into a laughingstock.
Some people even used them as a warning to others.
Age wasn’t going to save them.
They were the ones behind the online bullying, and now it was their turn to pay the price.
While Zara was under investigation, she was anything but idle.
She desperately tried to get in touch with Daron, but he completely ignored her.
Left with no choice, she reached out to Marina instead.
When Zara was notified that she had a visitor, she immediately assumed it must be Marina.
But after being escorted out, to her surprise, the person waiting for her was actually Bette Blanchard.
Bette stood outside the window, her smile radiant as she greeted Zara warmly.
Zara’s face froze, and she tried to walk away.
But the staff member behind her pressed a hand down on her shoulder, forcing her to sit,
Bette picked up the phone.
Then she pointed at the phone on Zara’s side of the glass, signaling for her to pick it up.
Zara looked miserable, but she still ended up picking up the phone.
As soon as she put the phone to her ear, Bette’s voice came through.

“Long time no see, Zara. How have you been lately?” Bette asked, her tone sweet and mocking.

Hearing Bette’s voice, Zara clenched her jaw, memories rushing back to when she’d just come back to Vrufield and used to taunt Bette the same way.
Back then, Daron had still been on her side.
She gritted her teeth and stayed silent.
Bette’s lips curled into a playful smirk as she spoke softly.
“Zara I’m here today just to let you know. Don’t even think about interfering in Daron and Marina’s lives anymore.
“They won’t see you. From now on, everything about you is under my control.
“Are you ready to face me?”
Zara took a deep breath, a flash of panic in her eyes.
She remembered how, all these years, because Daron always cared about her and her friends, they’d made life miserable for Bette. Sometimes out in the open, sometimes behind her back.
Framing Bette was something they did more than a few times.
Which was exactly why Bette and Daron’s relationship had gotten so rocky over the years.
‘Bette, I know I messed up. I’m really sorry. Please forgive me. I promise I’ll never go near Daron or Marina ever again,” Zara pleaded.
Hearing Zara beg, Bette’s smile just got even brighter.
Zara, let’s be real. I don’t see you actually feeling sorry at all. It’s not guilt, it’s fear.
You’re scared stiff of going to jail, aren’t you? So why’d you come crawling back? Didn’t you swear four years ago you’d never come near Daron again? What are you doing in Vrufield now?”
Zara’s face went ghostly pale when Bette dug up the mess from four years ago.
Bette was honestly sick and tired of Zara at this point.
She never expected Zara to stoop so low, milking her old crush on Daron for sympathy like it was some kind of character
trait.
The Blanchard family had never treated her or Hayley badly all these years.
But for them, it was never enough.
Zara and Hayley could’ve had it good.
But they were the ones who brought all this mess on themselves.
Zara pressed her lips together, set the phone down, and refused to engage with Bette any further.
Bette looked at Zara, who was sitting there like a lamb to the slaughter, powerless to resist. With a sly smile, she tapped out a few words on her phone and held the screen up for Zara to read.

[This isn’t the end. Hayley might owe Daron, but she’s got nothing on me. I’ll make sure she coughs up every last cent she took.]
When Zara read that message, her eyes went wide with panic.
All her confidence crumbled. She had nothing left to hold onto.
