Bette didn’t hold back just because Hayley stayed silent.
“Aunt Hayley, this whole game was lost for you from the start,” Bette said.

“Daron has been into Marina for ages. He went all the way to Sicester just for her. Yet you still thought Zara could marry him? Isn’t that just ridiculous?

With that, Bette hung up.
For the next few days, Hayley went completely silent online. She even deleted all the videos she’d posted before.
Not long after, an apology video popped up online.
Hayley looked like she was barely holding it together. She admitted to badmouthing Marina and Daron, owned up to her own ambitions, and apologized to the Blanchard and Zamora families.
She also revealed that Martin was the one who told her to drag Daron into it.
Whether Daron was actually at fault or not, as long as she came forward and tried to pin it on him, he’d still get dragged into the mess.
Verena and Martin never expected Hayley to switch sides just like that.
With Hayley’s apology, Bette dropped all charges against her.
Before Hayley left the country, Harris met with her and handed her a divorce agreement.
Hayley looked genuinely surprised when she saw the papers.
Apparently, Leo had signed this divorce agreement years ago.
Harris sat across from Hayley, his voice icy.
‘Daron’s been keeping up appearances for your sake for a long time,” Harris said.
“You wanted to be Leo’s wife, to live that glamorous life, and he made sure you had it all. If you’d just been a little more content, nobody could’ve threatened your position.”
Hayley and Leo never had any real feelings for each other. And Verena had been eyeing the title of Mrs. Zamora for a long
time.
No matter how one looked at it, the smartest play for Victor was for Leo to divorce Hayley and marry Verena.
Hayley pressed her lips together tightly, her hand shaking as she clutched the divorce papers.
“Harris, are you saying all this just to make me feel guilty?” Hayley asked. “In my whole life, the only person I’ve ever failed is Zara. I don’t owe anyone else an apology.
“Why do you think Daron kept this divorce agreement hidden? It’s because once Verena joined the family, his own position
would be threatened.”

Harris stared at Hayley, his eyes cold and distant, and spoke in a deep, serious tone. “If you want to pretend Daron never did anything good for you, that’s up to you.
“But come on. If Daron could pull Leo down from the CEO seat at Zatnora Group, do you really think he’d be scared of Verena?
“The relationship between you and Daron has come to this. You said that being Leo’s wife has chained you for most of your life. So why not just sign these divorce papers and pursue your own freedom?”
Hayley’s expression hardened as she ripped the divorce papers to pieces.
“No, I refuse to get divorced,” she said.
I’m already part of the Zamora family. My name’s in your family tree, and every month, I get my share from Zamora Group.
“I’ve earned this after a lifetime of hard work. It’s what I deserve.”
She didn’t want to be just Hayley. She wanted to be Leo’s wife.
She wanted to be the all-powerful lady of the house, the kind of woman nobody would ever dare mess with or offend.
Harris watched Hayley tear up the papers, his face calm and showing barely any emotion.
“If you don’t want a divorce, that’s up to you,” Harris said. “Leo’s never coming back to Vrufield, so all you’ve got is a fancy title. You’ve been used to that for years, so I won’t bother telling you to let go of your fixation.
“But there’s something you need to know. Because of Leo’s actions, he brought serious trouble to Zamora Group and the family. All his benefits in the family have been wiped out.
“As his wife, you can’t continue to enjoy those benefits either. All that money you got every month? That was Daron making sure you were taken care of.”
Hayley took a deep breath and collapsed into her chair.
Harris stood up, glanced at her, and said in a cool voice, “From now on, you’d better learn to cut back.
“With what you have now, you won’t be able to keep up your old habit of splurging 300,000 dollars on jewelry every week.”
With that, Harris looked away and walked out.
Even after Bette dropped the charges against her, Hayley didn’t leave Vrufield right away.
No one from the Zamora or Blanchard families was making things hard for her, but at the same time, nobody cared what happened to her either.
During this time, the high-society ladies Hayley had once tried so hard to fit in with had gotten their till of gossip and drama. Once they’d had enough, they kicked her out of their group chat.
Even Genny, who used to be pretty close to her, blocked her number and deleted her from all her contacts.
Hayley tried to use her connections, hoping to pull some strings and get Zara a lighter sentence.
But after reaching out to everyone she could think of, she realized almost nobody was willing to help her.

Zara ended up only facing perjury charges.
She was sentenced to three years.
On the day of the trial, Hayley was present at the courthouse.

Zara stared at Hayley through the glass, her eyes filled with reproach.

She only heard from her lawyer that Hayley had apologized.

Zara didn’t wait for Hayley to finish. She simply put the phone down.
Hayley tried to say something else, but Zara stood up and walked back to her cell, making it clear she didn’t want to talk
inymore.
From then on, during every monthly visit, Zara refused to see Hayley.
Her obsession was already deep-rooted.
