Daron was already lying in bed. When he saw Marina come back into the room, he pulled back the covers for her. Once she climbed in, he tucked her in gently.
Marina, clearly annoyed, burrowed into Daron’s arms and grumbled under her breath.
I wonder what Mr. Campbell is talking about with Elnora. They’ve been on the phone forever and still haven’t hung up.” she muttered.
She let out a little huff. Honestly, she still couldn’t help but feel annoyed at Albert because of all those scandals surrounding him.
But since he and Elnora had already tied the knot, Marina knew that even if she had complaints, she couldn’t really say anything, so she only vented a little to Daron when they were alone.
Daron listened to her grumbling, chuckled softly, and pulled her into his arms.
He said. “They’re married, after all. Even if there’s no love between them, it’s good that they can still talk and have things in common, right?”
Marina nodded, then muttered, “The real problem is, he seems to have something in common with everyone. That’s what
worries me.
“Elnora will be all alone in Port City, having to deal with all those girls always hanging around him. Just thinking about all those gossip stories drives me crazy.”
Daron pulled Marina a little closer and said, “Come on, Elnora’s no fool. You really should have more faith in her.”
Marina muttered, “Even the toughest woman can get worn down by a guy who just won’t give up. I’m really worried Albert might cloud Elnora’s judgment.”
Daron gently ruffled Marina’s hair and said, “Honestly, you never know. Maybe Elnora will be the one influencing Albert, not the other way around.”
The next morning.
When Marina woke up. Daron was already gone. She had no idea when he’d slipped out.
She checked her phone and found a message from Daron.
[Babe, I’m heading to the office. I’ll come by after work tonight.]
Marina: [Alright, babe. Hope work goes smoothly!]
After texting Daron back, Marina tossed aside the covers and got up to freshen up.
After she finished getting ready, Marina headed downstairs.
She saw Elnora sitting on the couch, flipping through a magazine.
Albert was leaning in, showing Elnora something on his phone and talking to her.
“What do you think about this setup for our wedding?” he asked.
Elnora peeked at Albert’s phone screen and nodded slightly.

“Looks good,” she replied.
Albert scrolled through a few more photos.
“How about this one?” he asked.
Elnora said, “That works too.”
Albert scrolled again. “What about this one?”
Elnora looked away from his phone. “Not bad.”
Alber: put his phone away, looked at Elnora, and asked.
“So, which one do you think is the best?”
Elnora flipped a page in her magazine, then glanced at Albert, maybe picking up on his irritation..
“You can decide, I’m good with any of them.”
“Really, any of them is fine with me,” she added.
Albert took a slow breath, trying to keep his cool as he listened to her.
“About you and…” he started.
Right then, Marina chimed in.
“Elnora…” she called out.

She walked downstairs, interrupting Albert mid-sentence. Pretending she’d only just noticed him, she gave him a polite nod.
‘Hey, Albert, you’re here too,” Marina greeted.
Albert nodded, letting go of whatever he was about to say.
“Yeah, morning,” he replied.
Marina said, “Morning! Did you get here first thing today?”
As Marina came downstairs, Elnora set her magazine aside.
Albert glanced at Elnora as she put down her business magazine, feeling a bit sour inside. Still, he forced himself to stay composed and gentlemanly, responding to Marina in a calm, polite manner.
“Yeah, he replied.
Elnora said, ‘Breakfast’s ready. We’re having plain porridge today.
“Daron mentioned you got sick after eating porridge yesterday, so Gauri made it plain, no meat this time.”
Marina flashed a bright smile.
“Great, I’ll go have some oatmeal. Have you guys already eaten?” she asked.
Elnora nodded. “Yeah, we’ve already had breakfast.”

Albert chimed in right after.
Yeah, I have,” he said.
Marina gave a casual “Alright” and walked off to the dining room.
‘Looks like I’ll be eating alone,” she said.
Elnora nodded and picked up her magazine again.

But just then, Albert reached over and took the magazine from her hands. He fixed his gaze on her, his eyes burning with intensity as he spoke earnestly.
‘Babe, I really think you should come check out the wedding setup with me,” he said.
Elnora arched her eyebrow, then eventually nodded.
Okay,” she agreed.
Albert grabbed his phone again, opened up the photos, and was about to move closer to Elnora, but she shifted away, her voice steady and emotionless.
Could you just send me the pictures? It’ll be easier to see them on my tablet,” she said.
With that, she picked up her tablet from the table beside her.
Seeing this, Albert forwarded the photos to Elnora.
After Elnora received the pictures, she scrolled through them carefully, picked out two options, and sent them back to him.
I think these two are pretty good,” she said.
Albert was about to move closer to take a look, but Elnora set her tablet aside. The next moment, his phone chimed with a notification.
He picked it up and saw that Elnora had sent him the two options she’d selected.
Albert glanced at the photos, then sent her back the set she’d already dismissed.
‘But honestly, I think this one’s the best,” Albert said.
Elnora didn’t bother picking up her tablet again. She looked at Albert calmly and replied, “Fine, we’ll go with your choice.”
Albert couldn’t help but laugh, a mix of amusement and frustration at Elnora’s attitude.
“Babe, are you unhappy with any of these choices?” he asked.
Elnora shook her head.
“No, I’m really satisfied with all of them,” she replied.
Albert looked at Elnora’s icy face and was honestly left speechless.
To be real, he had no clue what she was supposedly happy about.
Still, she didn’t seem bothered or annoyed.

She just didn’t give a damn about the wedding, or anything else.
Albert felt a pang of frustration. He put his phone away and said in a serious tone, “Since you said you’ll go with whatever I choose. I’ll just pick what I like.
“If you end up not liking something later, you can…”
Elnora cut him off before he could finish his sentence.
“I won’t.” Elnora said flatly, not giving him a chance to continue.
Albert’s words stuck in his throat, leaving him at a loss for what to say.
Elnora looked up at him, her expression cool, and continued, “Do you have anything else?”
Albert put his phone away, got up from the couch, and said quietly. “That’s all.”
Elnora nodded, stood up from the couch, and glanced at Albert.
“Let me show you out. If anything comes up, just text me,” she said.
Albert replied, “Alright.”
His voice was low, and there was something in his tone people couldn’t quite put your finger on.
I must be losing it, driving all the way over here just for this nonsense, Albert thought to himself.
But in the end, Elnora couldn’t care less about any of the wedding details.
Albert felt his chest tighten, anxiety creeping in. Still, he kept his poker face on in front of Elnora, refusing to let her see any weakness.
Elnora made a polite gesture toward the door, and Albert walked out without another word.
After stepping outside the Finley family home, Elnora gave him a cool, distant smile.
“Take your time. I won’t walk you out,” she said.
Albert said, “Don’t bother.”
