Chapter 535
The argument between Zack and Mila quickly reached Evan’s ears.
When Evan came out, he saw Mila with her hair all messed up, going at Zack like a wild woman.
Zack didn’t hold back either. He yanked her by the hair and shoved her to the floor.
“Stop it! What are you two doing?” Evan barked.
Evan gave Zack a particularly disapproving look.
He looked off into the distance and saw that Elnora’s car had just left, not too far away.
Elnora must have seen everything that happened here.

“Get in here, now!” Evan snapped, then turned on his heel and strode into the Clark family house.
A servant came over and helped Mila up from the floor.
Mila shot Zack a vicious glare, speaking through gritted teeth.
“Since you agreed to marry me, divorce won’t be that easy for you,” she spat.
“I’m yours while I’m alive, and I’ll haunt you when I’m dead,” she hissed.
Mila was determined not to let her marriage to Zack end after just a few months.
“In my book, the only way out of this marriage is death, not divorce,” Mila spat.
Evan caught every bit of those harsh words. He stopped, turned, and gave Mila a cold, hard look.
He snapped, “Shut up! What nonsense are you two talking about?
“Divorce? Widowhood? Enough with that talk!
“Are you trying to embarrass the Clark family right at the door?”
Evan was so furious that he banged his cane hard against the floor.
Mila gritted her teeth, shot Zack an unhappy look, then turned to Evan.
“Grandpa, I don’t even want to say this crazy stuff. It’s Zack who said he wants a divorce,” she complained.
“He said he’s going to chase after Elnora again. He’s the one spouting nonsense. He’s the crazy one here,” she added.
Evan’s piercing glare shot straight at Zack.
“Zack, is what Mila said true?” Evan pressed.
Zack took a deep breath, looked up at Evan, and nodded.

“Grandpa, Mila’s right. I want a divorce. Honestly, she was never the one I wanted to marry, not from the start, Zack admitted.
Evan narrowed his eyes, his voice icy.
He shot back. “So you didn’t want to marry her? What, did I twist your arm and make you get tangled up with her?
“When the Gill family came knocking about the marriage, you didn’t object at all. Weren’t you the one who felt guilty for stringing Mila along all these years, so you figured you’d finally make it official?
“And now, suddenly, she’s not the one you want anymore?”
As Evan was talking, he made his way into the Clark family’s living room.
Zack closed his eyes for a second, then said in a low voice, “Back then, everyone had me cornered, so I just had to go along
with it.
“Elnora was the only one I ever wanted, right from the start.”
Zack’s words completely set Evan off. Standing in front of the liquor cabinet, his face dark with rage, he grabbed a bottle at random and hurled it straight at Zack.
Evan had worked out for years. He was built like a tank.
He put every ounce of strength he had into that throw.
The bottle smashed right into Zack’s head, and a second later, blood started running down his forehead.
Mila was shocked by what just happened and instinctively stepped forward.
“Zack, you…” Mila called out.
But before Mila could even reach him, Zack just pushed her away, hard.
“Get lost,” he snapped.
Mila was totally blindsided by Zack’s shove and nearly went down again, but thankfully the servant behind her managed to
catch her.
Seeing Zack’s sudden shift in attitude, Mila’s eyes flashed with hurt. But she steeled herself and avoided looking at him.
No matter what, she would never allow herself to become the laughingstock of Vrufield.
Evan would never allow Zack to divorce her.
Evan glared at Zack, his face icy as he spoke in a low, harsh tone.
Evan scoffed, “Zack, all these years I thought you might actually amount to something. Turns out, you’re even more useless than your father ever was.
“After your dad passed, I was so eaten up with guilt that I put all my hopes and affection into you. I barely paid any attention to your uncle Kieran’s family, and that’s why your uncle has drifted so far from me all these years.
“I even considered letting you take over the company. But after seeing how you’ve acted these past few months, honestly, you couldn’t be more disappointing.

“You really think Elnora wouldn’t dig into the fact that you got engaged and married Mila?
You two were together for five years, and you betrayed her for almost four of them. Do you seriously think she’d ever take you back?”
Elnora was the one Cole had singled out among all the Finley family kids, grooming her to be the heir.
That showed her world was way bigger than just romance.
Zack’s face burned red after Evan’s harsh words.
He clenched his fists at his sides so hard his knuckles turned white.

But Evan cut him off before he could finish.
Evan said, “Zack, go ahead and try if you want.
But you can forget about ever becoming the Clark family heir.”
Lack looked up at Evan, his voice low and resolute.
He said, “Grandpa, I know I can’t compare to Kieran.
So I don’t care about being the Clark family heir. All I want is to divorce Mila.”
