Chapter 546

Albert walked up to Elnora, paused, and took the document from her hand.

It was a business contract from Stella.

If he heard correctly, Elnora had just said she wanted to replace Stella.

Most people in the company knew about the history between Stella and Albert.

So at that moment, everyone went quiet, and even the rustling of papers became barely audible.

Everyone was on edge, afraid to miss a single word exchanged between Albert and Elnora.

The assistant who had received Elnora’s instructions earlier felt secretly relieved.

After all, this was a task that was sure to offend someone.

He couldn’t afford to offend either Stella or Elnora.

If Albert stepped in, he wouldn’t have to worry about being stuck between them.

Elnora kept her cool, even as Albert took the document from her. Her gaze stayed steady, showing no

reaction.

She turned to look at Albert and said quietly, “Mr. Campbell, is there a problem?”

Albert nodded. “Yes.”

Elnora stood calmly in front of him, clearly ready to listen. “Please, go ahead.”

Albert met her gaze, her eyes as calm as still water. He arched his brow slightly and said quietly. “Stella has been after this contract for a long time.”

Elnora nodded. “I believe most of our entertainers cherish every business opportunity and do their best to

secure resources.”

Albert simply stared at her in silence.

Elnora continued quietly.

“Ms. Taylor was in a car accident yesterday and needs time to recover. The ad shoot for this contract is coming up soon, so we’re replacing her out of concern for her health. This also demonstrates our company’s commitment to treating our entertainers with care, rather than exploiting them.”

“Mr. Campbell, you said there was a problem. Do you find my arrangement unsuitable?” she added.

Elnora’s

response was entirely formal and impersonal.

Albert just watched her face, but he couldn’t see anything personal in her expression.

He paused for a moment before replying quietly.

“Ms. Finley, your arrangement is spot-on.”

“Thanks for acknowledging it, Mr. Campbell,” Elnora said.

“So, is it all right for me to move forward with my decision?” she asked.

Albert replied, “Yes.”

Elnora reached out, took the document from Albert, and handed it to Benson, asking in a neutral tone.

“Did you hear what Mr. Campbell said, Benson?”

Benson quickly reached out and took the document from Elnora. “Yes, Ms. Finley.”

Elnora responded with a quiet “Mm” and turned to head back to her office.

Albert and the rest of the staff in the executive office were left in silence.

Elnora’s aura was so intense that Benson was sweating bullets inside.

He was pretty sure his earlier hesitation had already put him on his new boss’s bad side.

Albert stood where he was, watching Elnora walk away, raising an eyebrow.

Benson clutched the document, shooting Albert a cautious look.

“Mr. Campbell…”

Albert pushed his tongue against his cheek.

“What do you need from me? Didn’t you catch Ms. Finley’s instructions?” Albert said.

Benson replied, “Yes, I got it. I’ll handle it now.”

Albert turned and walked away, his face unreadable.

As he walked past Elnora’s office, he glanced over.

He saw Elnora sitting in her chair, her gaze fixed on the papers in front of her. Her expression was icy and unreadable. She looked like a robot, completely devoid of emotion.

Albert let out a tsk, headed into his own office next door, and dropped into his chair. For reasons he couldn’t quite explain, he felt a sudden surge of annoyance.

Stella had just rolled into the dressing room, hadn’t even started getting ready, when she heard the contract that was supposed to be hers had been reassigned to someone else.

When she got the news, her hand tightened a bit on the wheelchair, but she barely reacted.

New bosses always shook things up, and with Elnora taking charge, nobody was surprised.

With her history with Albert, it was pretty much expected that Elnora would single her out.

Her assistant was visibly annoyed. She immediately confronted Benson, determined to argue her point.

“Benson, this endorsement was promised to Stella from the very start. Her career is just taking off, and she needs all the resources she can get right now,” Mya said.

“Mr. Campbell gave the green light for this endorsement to go to Stella. She’s injured, but she still showed up for the makeup test. And now you’re just pulling her out like that? Isn’t that just unfair?” Mya pressed.

Benson kept it strictly business, not showing any emotion.

“Ms. Finley said Ms. Taylor was in a car accident and got hurt. The ad shoot is about to start, so they switched her out at the last minute to look out for her,” Benson replied.

“This isn’t about bullying anyone,” Benson added.

Hearing that, Stella’s assistant’s expression soured.

“Benson, that’s just lip service. Ms. Finley probably couldn’t care less about Stella’s health.”

“She’s just pretending to act for the company, but really, she’s using this to get back at us for personal reasons,” she added.

Her assistant was getting out of line, and Stella immediately cut in with a frown.

“Mya! Ms. Finley has her reasons for this arrangement,” she said.

Mya bit her lip and muttered under her breath. “It’s no secret at Starlight about you and Mr. Campbell. Ms. Finley is totally getting back at you.”

Hearing that, Stella frowned.

Benson was also visibly uncomfortable.

To be honest, it really felt like Elnora was out for payback with this arrangement.

After all, everyone knew that yesterday, when Stella got into a car accident, Albert ditched Elnora at the wedding to handle the guests solo while he took Stella to the hospital.

No one would take that lying down.

Stella shot Mya a look, then turned to Benson.

“Benson, could you thank Ms. Finley for me? I’m actually doing alright, and the shoot is still a few days away. I’d really like to keep shooting the ad for this product.”

“Can I meet with Ms. Finley?” Stella asked.

Mya muttered under her breath, “What’s the point of seeing her? You might as well just go straight to Mr. Campbell. Ms. Finley might be the boss, but she can’t override him.”

Stella shot Mya a sharp look.

Mya clammed up.

Stella glanced up at Benson, looking genuinely apologetic.

“Sorry for being out of line.”

Benson gave her an awkward smile and said quietly, “No worries.”

Stella nodded with a smile. “Can I meet with Ms. Finley?”

Benson nodded.

“Yes. Ms. Finley is free this afternoon,” he said.

Stella offered a quiet thank you.

“Thanks, and sorry for the trouble.”

Benson shook his head. “No problem.”

Stella and Albert had been tangled up for years, and everyone knew how much she’d been through. Most people figured they’d end up together in the end.

But no one saw it coming when Albert married Elnora instead.

It was, if nothing else, fate playing tricks.

Honestly, having someone like Stella as the boss’s wife would be a breeze compared to Elnora, who’s cold as ice, both on the outside and inside.

If he had a choice, Benson would much rather have Stella as the boss’s wife.

After all, having to deal with a boss like Elnora every day was just way too stressful.
