Chapter 556

Arnetta paused for a moment, clearly didn’t catch what Elnora was saying.

“What?” Arnetta asked, a bit confused.

Elnora’s expression remained indifferent, and she stayed silent.

Arnetta’s expression froze, her eyes locked onto Elnora. When she saw the icy, arrogant look on her face, it finally hit her what Elnora was implying.

She shot Elnora a furious glare. “What do you mean?” Arnetta demanded. “Are you saying there’s something wrong with me?”

Elnora gave her a once-over, eyes full of scrutiny. Her presence was intense. She didn’t even look that angry, but Arnetta still found herself stepping back, feeling a bit nervous.

She was honestly wary of Elnora. It wasn’t just the way Elnora carried herself. It was also who Elnora was.

Elnora was the lady of the Campbell family, and Reese chose her to be her daughter-in-law.

In the Campbell family, Reese’s word was law. Plus, Reese never had any fondness for the Taylor Family, all

thanks to Stella.

When Belinda stepped out of the boutique, she spotted Stella standing at the entrance with her head down. She glanced right past Stella, treating her like she was invisible. Then, she started scanning the hallway for

Arnetta.

As soon as she saw Arnetta, she strode over. But after a few steps, she realized Arnetta was standing right in front of Elnora, and there was a subtle tension between them.

Noticing this, Belinda picked up her pace, wearing a polite smile as she walked over to Arnetta and greeted Elnora. “Good evening, Ms. Finley.”

Elnora gave a slight nod. “Good evening, Mrs. Taylor.”

Belinda glanced sideways at Arnetta, noticing her sulky glare at Elnora. Without missing a beat, she tugged Arnetta’s arm and pulled her behind her.

“Weren’t you eyeing that dress just now?” Belinda reminded her. “I’ve already bought it for you. Hurry up and go grab it.”

Arnetta drew in a deep breath, realizing she couldn’t win against Elnora, and turned to leave. But as she walked away, there was still a stubborn look in her eyes.

Belinda exchanged a few more pleasantries with Elnora before finally taking her leave. As she walked away, she shot Stella a cold look and said coldly, “Hurry up and follow me. You’re such a jinx.”

Even after Belinda insulted her, Stella kept her head down and followed her into the store.

Elara watched the whole scene, genuinely amazed. “Seriously, how has Stella been with a guy like Albert for three years and still can’t stand up for herself?”

Elnora didn’t bother answering. She just turned and walked away.

As Stella walked into the boutique, she cast a timid glance toward Elnora. But almost immediately, her confidence faltered, and she looked away, feeling inferior.

She could never be as fierce as Elnora. No matter how hard she tried, it just wasn’t in her.

Elnora accompanied Elara all evening as they browsed the shops.

Just as Elara finished her shopping and they were about to leave, Elnora’s phone rang. Albert’s name flashed on the screen.

Elnora answered the call and held the phone to her ear.

Albert’s lazy, laid-back voice drifted through the line. “Where are you?” he asked.

Elnora let him know her location. “I’m on the third floor of the mall.”

Albert chuckled softly. “It’s getting late. I’ll come pick you up.”

Elnora glanced at her watch and replied in a calm voice, “No need, my driver is still waiting for me in the parking lot.”

Albert’s voice dropped to a low rumble. “I’m passing by, so I’ll come pick you up.”

Elnora responded casually, “Oh.”

“Wait for me. I’ll be there soon.” With that, he hung up.

Elnora glanced at her phone screen and put it away.

Elara sidled up to Elnora and whispered, “Is Mr. Campbell coming to pick you up?”

Elnora replied flarly, “He said he’s just passing by.”

After saying that, she glanced across the path. Arnetta was strolling arm in arm with Belinda, both of them loaded down with shopping bags. They hadn’t even bothered to hire a personal shopper.

Meanwhile, Stella followed behind them like a servant, carrying loads of shopping bags.

Elnora just glanced at them and then looked away. Elara noticed too and muttered under her breath, “Stella really is pitiful.”

Elnora replied, “That’s her fate.”

Elara nodded. “That’s true.”

Albert was always generous. In those three years they dated, Stella could have really changed her life, but she

didn’t. She just never knew how to grab her chance.

Or maybe Stella just couldn’t let go of that supposed family loyalty to the Taylors. Whatever the case, Elnora didn’t know the exact context. All she could do was respect everything that had unfolded.

Since Albert hadn’t arrived at the mall yet, Elnora accompanied Elara for another round of shopping.

Elara was tired and a bit sleepy. So the two of them headed down to the parking lot together.

Just as they entered the parking lot, they heard the sound of someone sobbing in a corner. It was a woman, and she was crying so hard it was heartbreaking.

Elara and Elnora exchanged a glance and, without hesitation, walked toward the source of the crying.

The woman was hunched over, clutching her phone as she wept. It was impossible to tell who she was calling.

Her cries were so miserable that one couldn’t help but feel the urge to go over and help her. But she was hidden away in the shadows, so they could barely make out her face.

Elara asked in a gentle voice, “Hello, do you need any help?”

The woman abruptly stopped crying, fumbled to hang up the call, and pushed herself up from the ground, looking flustered.

When Elara finally saw her face, she was stunned for a moment and silently berated herself. ‘Should’ve minded my own business,’ Elara thought to herself.

Stella’s hands were clenched so tight her knuckles were white. She didn’t even look at Elnora or Elara, just shook her head, looking awkward.

“I’m fine,” she mumbled.

As she spoke, she quickly tapped her phone to end the call she’d just made.

Elnora didn’t even spare Stella a glance. She just turned and walked away.

But as she turned away, she caught sight of Albert nearby, just ending a call.

Elara’s face fell, too. ‘No wonder Stella was crying so hard earlier. She was calling Albert

Elara cursed under her breath, and all that sympathy she’d felt for Stella just vanished.

Albert spotted Elnora and walked over. Noticing she wasn’t carrying any shopping bags, he asked, “You didn’t buy anything?”

Elnora replied, “I had them send everything straight to my place.” She referred to it as “my place” instead of “home.”

Albert raised an eyebrow, a hint of irritation flashing in his eyes as he said, “You really know how to live it up, Ms. Finley.”

Elnora replied, “It’s just one of the perks they offer. I’m simply enjoying the service that comes with what I spent.”

Albert smiled and said softly, “You’ve been shopping for hours. You must be tired. Come on, let’s head home.”

Elnora didn’t move. She just glanced over her shoulder and spoke in a calm voice, “Albert, don’t you have some unfinished business to deal with?”

Albert frowned.

The next second, Stella stepped out from the shadows.

The slap mark on her face was clear, and her eyes were red from crying. She looked especially miserable.
