Stella fixed her gaze straight ahead, tears clinging to the corners of her eyes, her expression filled with frustration and unwillingness.

She finally looked away, lowered her head, and clenched her hands so tightly that it took a long time before she finally let go.

When she looked up again, she fixed her gaze on the trash can for a long time.

She stood rooted to the spot, staring at the trash can for what felt like forever.

Finally, as if she’d made up her mind, she walked over.

As soon as Elnora got back to the Southview Residence residence, Heather hurried over to greet her.

“Ms. Finley, you’re back?” Heather managed, her tone shaky.

She walked to the door and took a pair of slippers out of the cabinet for Elnora. Her face was full of deference and a bit of fawning.

Elnora gave her an indifferent look, slipped on the slippers, and headed upstairs without a word.

Heather was left standing there awkwardly, her smile stiffening on her face. ‘Ms. Finley is so hard to deal with!’

Feeling a bit down, she sighed and went back to her room.

Not long after, Albert’s car pulled up outside.

Heather hurried to the door to greet him, a smile on her face.

She was about to offer to take his coat, but then noticed Albert was only wearing a black shirt.

She remembered that Albert had definitely worn a coat when he left earlier.

“Mr. Campbell, did you leave your coat in the car? I’ll fetch it for you,” Heather said.

As she spoke, Heather started walking toward the garage,

But she had barely taken a few steps when Albert’s flat, emotionless voice called out from behind her, “I threw it away.”

Heather froze, letting out an “Ah” in surprise.

“You threw it away?” she blurted out, unable to hide her shock.

From what she remembered, the suit jacket Albert wore was custom-made by a high-end designer. The cost alone was six figures.

Albert walked into the house, and Heather quickly followed behind him.

She muttered under her breath, “But, Sir, why toss it when it was perfectly fine?”

Albert didn’t answer her. He went over to the water dispenser and poured himself a glass of water.

Heather hurried over, picked up the cup, and offered it to Albert.

He took the cup, drank slowly, and asked offhandedly, “Is Ms. Finley back?”

Heather nodded. “Yes, she just went upstairs a little while ago.”

Albert just grunted in acknowledgment and didn’t press further.

Heather didn’t dare say anything bad about Elnora, so she just kept her head down and stood quietly beside Albert.

After Albert finished his water, Heather reached out to take the cup from him.

She’d messed up before and gotten scolded by Albert, so she was always trying extra hard to prove herself.

When Albert sat down on the couch, Heather went over and asked him carefully, “Mr. Campbell, do you want something to eat? I can make you something.”

Albert shook his head. “No need.”

He paused, glanced upstairs, and added quietly, “I’ll go ask Ms. Finley if she wants something to eat.”

Heather was about to volunteer to go upstairs and ask Elnora herself, but suddenly remembered the way Elnora had looked at her yesterday. Her courage evaporated in an instant.

She nodded and watched Albert head upstairs.

Albert headed to Elnora’s room and knocked on the door.

Elnora had just stepped out of the bathroom, her hair still damp.

She hadn’t heard any cars pull up while she was in the bathroom, so she figured it was just Heather coming to find her and went to open the door.

When Elnora opened the door, she saw Albert standing there.

She was wearing a red silk slip dress. The red silk slip dress looked exquisite, with a soft shimmer that caught the light.

Albert’s eyes lingered on her flawless waist, and suddenly, he remembered last night. When Elnora leaned over the pool table, that alluring curve of her waist had grabbed his attention.

Elnora showed no surprise when she saw Albert, asking calmly, “Mr. Campbell, do you need something?”

Albert looked away from her waist, a faint smile appearing on his lips as he said softly, “Ms. Finley, would you like a late-night snack? I can have the kitchen whip something up for you.”

She just looked away, unfazed, and walked toward the door.

Seeing this, Heather hurried over, took Elnora’s shoes out of the cabinet, and placed them in front of her, her face eager to please and careful.

Elnora slipped on her shoes and replied in a calm, distant voice, “Thanks.”

Heather was surprised and flattered, quickly putting on a grateful smile and whispering, “You’re welcome. It’s just what I’m supposed to do.”

Elnora gave a slight nod but didn’t respond. Seeing this, Heather quickly grabbed Elnora’s briefcase from the cabinet.

After Elnora finished putting on her shoes, she reached out and took the briefcase from Heather.

Heather offered it with both hands.

After taking the briefcase, Elnora headed out. Heather followed and saw Elnora off to the car.

The whole time, Elnora never asked about Albert, as if she’d forgotten she was married.

Heather couldn’t hold back. Seeing Elnora hadn’t asked, she quietly mentioned, “Mr. Campbell headed out early this morning.

“He told me to remind you, Ms. Finley, don’t forget to have breakfast.”
