Chapter 559

Elnora nodded as a response.

Heather stepped aside, looking completely respectful.

Once Elnora got into the car, she didn’t look at Heather again. She coolly instructed the driver to drive.

“Drive,” she said.

The driver immediately started the car and left the Southview Residence Estate.

After Elnora entered Starlight Group, she passed by Albert’s office.

His office door was firmly shut. Elnora barely spared it a glance, then moved on without another thought.

Elara carried today’s files into Elnora’s office and quietly said, “Mr. Campbell didn’t come to work today.”

She added, “I wonder if he even went home last night.”

Elara looked pretty pissed off. She thought Stella was such a shameless bitch. ‘She was the one who dumped Albert in the first place, and now that he’s married, she won’t leave him alone? What’s her deal?’

Elnora replied calmly, “He did come home last night.”

But she had no clue if he slipped out again after that.

Elnora didn’t see Albert at all that morning.

Heather said he went out early, but who knows if she was covering for him.

Elara leaned in close to Elnora and couldn’t help but ask quietly, “Are you really not going to step in?”

Elnora shook her head. “Right now, this is what I need to handle.”

She gave the words a small shake for emphasis.

Elara gave a helpless smile and said, “You’re really chill about all this. Everyone’s attention is on your husband

now.”

Elnora said dryly, “Men these days don’t come with a shelf life. Who can tell when they’ll spoil?”

Elara blinked at Elnora’s comment, then gave her a thumbs-up in admiration. ‘She really knows how to deliver a zinger. With no shelf life for men, who’s to say he hasn’t already soured?’

Elnora looked down at the files in her hands, making it obvious she was done talking about the subject.

Elara, who’d been working with Elnora long enough to know how she operated, quietly slipped out of the office.

As the office door clicked shut, Elnora’s fingers clenched around the files for a moment, then relaxed.

After wrapping up her work at Starlight Group, Elnora headed back to the Southview Residence Estate.

Albert made an effort for a few days, coming and going with her, but it didn’t last. Soon enough, he reverted to his pre-marriage habits.

He didn’t come home for days on end.

Elnora didn’t bother calling Albert either. She just kept herself busy with work; her life was simply a line between Starlight and home, nothing more.

Meanwhile, Heather had become a lot more respectful toward Elnora lately. She was probably genuinely scared of her, so she didn’t dare mention anything about Stella in front of her anymore.

One day, Elnora came home. Heather was cleaning the living room, her hands busy while her phone sat on the table, on speaker.

“Albert hasn’t been home for days. How’s Ms. Finley reacting?” There was a soft, fragile voice on the phone. No doubt, it was Stella.

Heather answered without a moment’s hesitation, “She doesn’t react at all. Ms. Finley’s like a robot with zero feelings.”

She added, “Sometimes, I seriously wonder if she’s actually a robot. Wish I could find out where her battery’s hidden.”

Elnora lowered her eyes, leaned down, and grabbed her slippers from the shoe cabinet.

Heather was so engrossed in her conversation with Arnetta that she didn’t notice Elnora coming home at all.

After swapping out her shoes, Elnora headed inside.

Heather was still gossiping with Stella. “You don’t have to worry. Mr. Campbell isn’t into robots, trust me.

“Honestly, even I get bored talking to Ms. Finley sometimes, and I’m just her assistant. A guy like Mr. Campbell, who’s been around the block, would be even more fed up.

“Sure, she’s got a nice face, but looks only get you so far. With a personality that dull, anyone would get tired of her after a couple of days.”

Arnetta kept her tone soft. “Heather, you really shouldn’t say things like that. If Ms. Finley overhears you, you might be asking for trouble.”

Heather just shrugged, totally unfazed. “Honestly, it’s obvious. Ms. Finley has no real standing in the Campbell family. She’s just there for show.

“And with you and Mr. Campbell in my corner, what do I have to be afraid of?”

Elnora started walking toward the stairs. That was the moment Heather finally realized someone was home.

She hadn’t even finished her sentence before a bad feeling crept up on her..

She bit her lip, hesitating before turning around.

Sure enough, there was Elnora, right by the stairs.

Elnora was standing in the same spot as before, giving Heather that same icy, condescending look from the top of the stairs.

Heather took a deep breath, her voice carrying a nervous quiver.

“Ms. Finley, you’re back?” Heather managed, her tone shaky.

Elnora stood at the top of the stairs, not even sparing Heather a glance. She just pulled out her phone and made a call.

Albert had been hanging out with Kaelin and the guys for days, and Elnora hadn’t called him even once during that time.

Just as Albert finished up a round of cards, his phone lit up with Elnora’s name. A smirk tugged at his lips.

Kaelin leaned over, saw the caller ID, and let out a snort. “Ms. Finley’s calling you? Looks like you’ve been ignoring her way too much lately. Better get your ass home.”

Albert raised an eyebrow and swiped to answer. He put the phone to his ear, his voice carrying a hint of amusement. “Ms. Finley, what’s up?”

Elnora’s voice was calm, but there was a chill in her tone. “What’s the housekeeper’s name?”

Heather stood in the living room, her face frozen in shock. She was dumbfounded. After nearly two weeks around Elnora, Elnora still had no clue what her name was.

“Heather? What’s up with her?” Albert asked.

Elnora’s voice was flat as she pulled the phone away from her ear and put the call on speaker. “Since she works for you, I thought I’d give you a heads-up before I let her go.”

She added, “I’ll have her pack up and leave immediately.”

Albert found Elnora’s words grating. Her tone was downright harsh.

‘What’s she talking about?’ Albert thought, irritation bubbling up. ‘She’s just a housekeeper, nothing more. Why does she think as if she’s my slave or something?”

“She’s just a housekeeper. Fire her if you want. There’s no need to report to me,” Albert replied, sounding completely unconcerned.

Heather’s face drained of all color when she heard Albert’s reply. She gripped the towel so hard that her hands shook, not even daring to breathe.

Elnora let out a quiet hum, her tone indifferent. “Fine.”

Elnora cut him off and hung up, not giving Albert a chance to reply.

Meanwhile, Heather stood frozen, fear written all over her face as she looked at Elnora.

Elnora glanced down, her eyes settling on Heather. “You heard all that, right?”

Heather took a deep breath, feeling a lump in her throat that left her unable to speak. She just nodded, her body rigid, and her face looked lifeless.

Elnora gave

Heather a cold, emotionless stare, like she was looking at something beneath her, an insignificant creature. “You heard him. Then hurry up and pack your stuff.”

As she spoke, Elnora glanced at the time, her voice cold. “You have ten minutes. I want you gone by the time I come downstairs.”
