Benedict, sitting next to Kaelin, thought for a moment before adding, “The Campbell family once did Ms. Finley a big favor. She wouldn’t treat her benefactor that way, so she probably won’t lock Albert out.
“But with her personality, she’s not the type to show much warmth to Albert. She’ll probably act like he’s not even there.”
Benedict’s words nailed it for Albert.
Kaelin heard nothing but silence on the line, so he hesitated, then asked in a low voice, “Albert, do you think Benedict’s got a point?”
Albert let out a cold laugh. “If you’re so good at analyzing, maybe you should join my company’s marketing department as an analyst.”
Kaelin let out a couple of forced chuckles, then burst out laughing.
“Man, you’re really down bad, Albert. You spent days hanging out with us on purpose, and Ms. Finley couldn’t care less about you!” Kaelin teased.
Albert snapped, “Shut up and let’s go grab a drink!”
Kaelin replied, “Alright, alright. Seeing how pitiful you are, I’ll go all out and keep you company tonight.”
Elnora heard the sports car downstairs speed off, then stepped out of her room and headed to her study to work. She had just sat down at her desk when her phone rang. It was Marina.
Elnora swiped to answer and put the phone to her ear. “Marina,” she said.
Elnora’s voice was flat, showing little emotion, but her tone softened a bit when speaking to Marina compared
to others.
Marina’s voice was hesitant and quiet as she asked, “Are you okay?”
Elnora didn’t hesitate and replied softly, “Of course, I’m fine. What’s up?”
Marina bit her lip. She’d just seen those Port City gossip articles, and that was why she called Elnora to check in on her.
On Elnora’s wedding day, Marina remembered how her sister had smiled. It was clear that marrying Albert had made her truly happy in that moment.

“And how are you holding up lately? I heard the first trimester can be rough, with nausea and all that. Are you managing alright?”
Marina replied, “Yeah, I’m doing well. It’s just that sometimes, when I smell something with a strong odor, I start feeling nauseous.”
Elnora’s tone softened a lot. “Make sure you’re taking care of yourself and getting enough rest.
“Emeric is holding down the fort at Finley Group, and if Chuck needs anything, he’ll reach out to me. Just relax and rest at home,” she said.
Marina replied, “Alright. But once I’m feeling better, I’ll probably drop by Finley Group. Staying home all day is just too boring.”
Elnora let out a snort. “I doubt Daron will even let you leave the house.”
Marina replied, “Then he can just tag along. Besides, he can help me spot anything at Finley Group that needs fixing. Might as well make the most of him.

Just then, her phone buzzed with an incoming call from Elara.
Elnora glanced at the screen and said softly to Marina, “I’ve got a work call coming in.”
Marina replied right away, “Alright, go ahead and take it.”
Elnora said reassuringly, “We’ll talk another time.”
After hanging up, Elnora answered Elara’s call.
Elara sounded furious as she said, “Ms. Finley, the Port City media is going wild with rumors about Albert and Stella spending the night together at a hotel. My phone’s been blowing up with calls from reporters!”

Elnora pressed her fingers to her brow. At the same time, her phone buzzed with another incoming call.
She glanced at the caller ID. It was a number she didn’t recognize. With a quiet sigh, she said calmly to Elara, “Yeah, someone’s already calling me.”
Elara grumbled under her breath and said urgently, “Don’t answer. Those Port City reporters are aggressive. They’ll ask anything, totally ignoring your feelings!”
Elnora responded with a calm hum.
Elara ranted about Stella and Albert one more time before hanging up and reaching out to her contacts to get the trending topic suppressed.
Meanwhile, Elnora set her phone down. Even though she kept ignoring the calls, the Port City reporters wouldn’t give up.
Some of them even managed to discover the landline number for her place and started calling that instead.
The landline kept ringing nonstop. Elnora rubbed her temples, the constant ringing echoing in her head and leaving her unexpectedly irritated.
She stepped out of her study and into the living room, then picked up the landline. “This is Elnora. If you have a question, get to the point.”
Her cold, no-nonsense tone made the entertainment reporter awkward. “Hello, Mrs. Campbell. I’d like to…”
Elnora interrupted, her voice resolute. “I go by Finley.”
The entertainment reporter was caught off guard. She’d never run into a real wife this bold before. For a moment, she totally blanked on what she was supposed to ask.
After a few seconds, she recovered and hurriedly said, “Hello, Ms. Finley. I have a few questions for you. Is it okay if I interview you?”
Elnora said, “Three questions. Make them count.”
The reporter asked, “Ms. Finley, did you check out the entertainment headlines today?”
Elnora answered, “No.”
The reporter asked again, “Ms. Finley, are you aware that Albert has been staying at the same hotel as Stella from Supernova Entertainment recently?”
Elnora replied, “I’m aware.”
The reporter was caught off guard. She hadn’t expected Elnora to be so blunt and direct.
