Chapter 624

Belinda caught Elnora’s unmistakable hint. She opened her mouth to speak, but in the end, held back and kept silent.

Elnora walked up to the second floor.

Belinda quickly handed her the medicine bottle, her voice full of concern. “Ms. Finley, do you need any help?”

Elnora shook her head, refusing.

“No, I can do it myself,” Elnora replied.

She took the medicine bottle from Belinda and headed straight into her room.

Belinda watched Elnora disappear into her bedroom, let out a soft sigh, and glanced downstairs.

Albert was still standing right where he’d been before.

His face was unreadable, giving nothing away about what he was thinking.

Belinda couldn’t figure it out. They’d seemed so close when they left this morning, but now it was like they’d slipped right back into that distant way they used to act.

She had no clue when they’d finally bridge the gap between them.

Albert noticed Belinda’s gaze on him, his expression turning a bit colder as he headed upstairs.

Just as Albert was about to enter his room, Belinda softly reminded him, “Mr. Campbell, Ms. Finley seems to

be hurt.”

Albert paused, his tone indifferent as he replied, “She wouldn’t even let you help her with the medicine. Do you really think she’d let me do it?”

With that, Albert gave a wry chuckle and headed into his bedroom.

Belinda watched him leave, not sure what to say. She just shook her head, her eyes showing nothing but helplessness.

In the middle of the night, Albert opened his bedroom door and walked over to Elnora’s room.

He paused, hand hovering over the doorknob, then finally turned it, wanting to go in and check on her injury

He wasn’t sure where exactly Elnora was hurt.

‘Maybe her old ankle injury got worse?’ Albert thought.

Albert pressed down on the doorknob, about to go in, only to realize Elnora had locked the door from the

inside.

There was no way he could get in from out here.

His expression shifted, and he let out a wry chuckle at himself.

Elnora had already told him tonight he didn’t need to do all this.

She wasn’t grateful in the slightest.

But he just couldn’t stop himself from wanting to check on her, to see how her injury was and whether she was really alright.

Albert stared at the tightly shut door, let out a self-mocking laugh, drew his hand back, and returned to his

own room.

As Albert came downstairs after waking up the next morning, he saw Belinda tidying up the dining table.

His gaze fell on a milk glass with a red lipstick stain. Albert asked, “Did Ms. Finley already have breakfast?”

Belinda nodded. “Yes, Ms. Finley already had breakfast.”

Albert’s gaze hardened as he checked the time on his watch.

Elnora had come downstairs more than half an hour earlier than usual today.

‘Is she really trying to avoid me?’ Albert thought to himself.

Albert looked out the window and saw Elnora was already in the car with her driver.

With a dark look in his eyes, Albert pulled out a chair and ate his breakfast in silence.

Belinda watched the quiet sense of defeat that seemed to hang over Albert and let out a silent sigh.

She cleared away Elnora’s breakfast and headed into the kitchen.

Before going in, she couldn’t help but say softly, “Ms. Finley mentioned the horse ranch yesterday when she was on the phone with her sister this morning. Mr. Campbell, did Ms. Finley get hurt at the horse ranch yesterday?”

Albert frowned, his voice flat. “I don’t really know.”

He put on an indifferent face, but his hand clenched the spoon a little too tightly.

Belinda saw this and just left it at that, heading into the kitchen.

After finishing breakfast, Albert headed straight to the office.

By the time he arrived, Elnora and most of Supernova Entertainment’s shareholders were already in the

conference room.

The shareholders were clearly unhappy with how Elnora had handled the situation with Nelson, and their words were full of criticism.

Elnora sat upright in her chair, completely unfazed by their accusations.

Her expression remained calm and composed, as if she wasn’t the one being attacked at all.

She acted like none of this was about her.

The elderly shareholder, who had some distant ties to the Taylor family, saw Elnora sitting there so calm and fearless, and grumbled, his mustache bristling with irritation, “Ms. Finley, you’re in Port City now, not Vrufield.

“Here in Port City, we value relationships. Even if Nelson messed up, you shouldn’t have turned him over to the authorities. We handle our own business.

“Being so harsh is just making enemies for Supernova Entertainment.”

Albert strode into the conference room.

Everyone turned their eyes to him, waiting for him to weigh in.

The shareholder who’d been talking instantly turned to Albert. “Albert, what’s your take? Wasn’t Ms. Finley’s way of handling things a little over the top this time?”

Albert didn’t respond. His gaze went straight to Elnora.

Elnora glanced up at Albert, but before she could say a word, the shareholder kept pushing. “Honestly, I think Ms. Finley is just out for revenge-petty and spiteful.

“That bastard daughter from the Taylor family used to be involved with Mr. Campbell, but that’s ancient history. Why can’t you just let it go?”

Elnora let out a quiet chuckle at the shareholder’s accusations.

Her subtle laughter made the man who’d been criticizing her suddenly stop talking for a moment.

Elnora said, “Sorry, Mr. Graham, I really didn’t mean to laugh, but what you just said is honestly too ridiculous not to.

“The evidence against Nelson is ironclad. The authorities did a full investigation, and he admitted to everything himself.

“I honestly don’t see where this so-called ‘personal vendetta’ is coming from. Like you said, Ms. Taylor and Mr. Campbell are ancient history. I’m his wife now. No matter how you look at it, I’m the one who won. Only the ones who lost keep obsessing over the past.”

Brentley Graham’s face changed instantly, and he glared at Elnora, clearly displeased.
