Wren was left standing there, her expression froze as Albert snubbed her, rooted to the spot.
Albert walked straight into the lounge.
He went to his seat, grabbed the jacket carelessly draped over it, and turned to leave without another word.
Everyone in the lounge looked at each other in bewilderment.
Kaelin spoke up. “Albert, you’re leaving already?”
Albert nodded. “Yeah, I’ve got something to take care of.”
Seeing how serious he looked, Kaelin didn’t press him.
“Will you be back later?” Kaelin asked.
Albert shook his head. “No, I won’t.”
“Okay,” Kaelin said. “Drive safe.”
Albert didn’t reply, just walked out of the lounge.
By the time Wren had pulled herself together and returned, Albert was already walking out of the lounge.
“Mr. Campbell, you’re leaving?” she called out.
Albert didn’t answer, just walked right past her.
Wren frowned as she watched him go, her hand at her side involuntarily clenched, then loosened again.
After leaving the riding club, Albert drove straight to the branch.
When he pulled up, he spotted Elnora’s car parked right outside the branch.
Albert reached for the door, ready to get out, but the moment his foot touched the ground, he paused and pulled it back in.
Elnora really didn’t want him showing up at the branch.
For a while now, rumors had been swirling in the company about him and Elnora not getting along.
If he showed up, it would only bring Elnora unnecessary trouble and make things harder for her.
Albert rubbed his temples, then slid back into the car and closed the door.
Upstairs at the branch, Elnora had just finished a meeting and was walking out of the conference room.

Elara walked over and spoke quietly by her side.
“Mr. Campbell’s here,” Elara murmured. “Someone just saw his car pull into the parking lot, but he hasn’t come upstairs yet.”
Elnora nodded slightly and said, “As long as he doesn’t come upstairs, we’ll just act like we never saw him.”
“Alright,” Elara replied.
As she spoke with Elara, Elnora headed toward the elevator.
As soon as she and Elara walked out of the Supernova Entertainment branch, Albert got out of his car.
Elnora just glanced at Albert from afar before getting into her car.
Albert paused, his steps faltering as he was about to walk over to her.
Soon, Elnora’s chauffeur drove her car over toward him.
Albert stopped in his tracks.
Her car pulled up right next to him.
The window slid down, revealing Elnora’s strikingly beautiful and aloof face to Albert.
“Didn’t you say you weren’t coming? Why are you here then?” Elnora said. “Don’t trust me?”
Albert was caught off guard by her words, took a deep breath, and met Elnora’s cool gaze.
“Yeah, I really can’t help worrying about you,” he admitted.
Elnora raised an eyebrow.
“Since you’ve put me in charge of everything, what’s left for you to worry about?” she asked.
Albert looked her in the eye and said, “I’m worried you’ll be singled out.”
The Taylor family might not be a big deal in Port City, but they’ve been living there for years.
Back in the day, most families in this city had their hands in some shady business.
The Taylor family was no exception.
Behind the scenes, they had some connections that were best kept out of the spotlight.

Albert was worried the Taylor family might go after Elnora.
Elnora froze for a moment when she heard Albert’s answer, her mind going blank.

But she quickly regained her composure, her gaze turning colder. “Thank you for your concern, Mr. Campbell. I’ll keep my guard up and be careful.”
After saying that, Elnora motioned for her driver to pull away.
The car pulled out, passing Albert as it drove off.
Elara sat in the passenger seat and turned to look at Elnora.
Elnora sat quietly, with little emotion on her face.
Elara said quietly, “Ms. Finley, maybe Mr. Campbell genuinely is just worried about you. After all, the Taylor family’s got a shady side.”
Elnora kept her face unreadable, turning to look out the window as she spoke quietly, “Stay on top of what I asked you to investigate. Keep a closer watch these days.”
Elara immediately nodded. “Understood, Ms. Finley.”
Elara had no idea what had gone down between Elnora and Wren.
But when she saw the warning smile Elnora flashed at Wren as she got into the car, she knew Wren was in
trouble.
Wren always seemed so friendly and approachable.
Elara couldn’t figure out how she’d managed to get on Elnora’s bad side.
Elnora didn’t say anything, and Elara didn’t ask, but she already had a pretty good idea of what Elnora was planning next.
After leaving the Supernova Entertainment branch, Elnora went straight back to Southview Residence.
Belinda saw her come in and quickly fetched a pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet, setting them down in front of Elnora.
Elnora slipped on the slippers and walked into the living room.
Elnora walked straight over to where Albert had left the first-aid kit last time.
Belinda noticed and came over, asking, “Ms. Finley, what are you looking for?”
Elnora felt a dull ache where the horse had grazed her leg earlier. She figured there was probably a bruise coming up, so she wanted to put some ointment on it.
“I’m looking for the ointment I used for my sprained ankle last time,” she replied.
Belinda paused to think, then said, “I think the ointment is in Mr. Campbell’s room. I remember seeing it there when I was tidying up.”
