Chapter 117 Stop Right There

“Jump down. I’ll catch you.”

George had been young and naive.

He had actually believed him.

The moment George dropped, Raymond stepped aside and pulled back his arms. With a cold expression, he shoved his hands into his pockets and walked away. “I’m teaching you your second lesson in life. Never trust anyone too easily, even if it’s your father.”

George fell silent.

In short, those memories were painful to revisit.

George did not believe for a second that his old man would feel bad for his younger brother.

After hearing George say that, the others showed obvious relief. More or less, they all seemed happier.

A brief silence followed.

“You two brothers really have a weird relationship.” A lazy female voice came from nearby.

George looked up and met the woman’s strikingly beautiful face.

She was a computer expert, one of the technical people.

“Why would you think that about us?” He lay sprawled across the table, his voice rising playfully. He smiled with an innocent face. “We’re very close brothers.”

The woman lifted her bright red lips and smilingly asked back, “Close brothers as in the kind who stab each other twice?”

George blinked and smiled even brighter.

What came next was not difficult for them. It would just take time to set everything up.

He put away his phone, crossed his long legs, and leaned back in the chair, rocking lazily like some carefree teenager with nothing to do.

Come to think of it, he had warned that little brat not to wander around, right?

Had he?

He tilted his head and thought about it.

He probably had.

But whether she wandered around or not made no real difference.

Their target was the whole school, not one person.

Chapter 117 Stop Right There

George had no intention of joining that boring hunting game.

He did not hold much malice toward the students here. He just liked excitement and joining the fun.

Watching the show was fine. Taking part in it was unnecessary.

Considering that little girl had once given him a piece of bread…

If she unfortunately died, he would casually kill the murderer for her and buy her a very nice grave.

And one week earlier, at the Jackson Residence, when Thomas personally received that paternity test report, his hands trembled uncontrollably.

He stared at it over and over for a long time. Joy nearly burst out of his chest.

The daughter he had searched for all these years had been there the whole time, alive, going to school, growing up well.

The moment he got the report, he had impulsively wanted to rush out and bring her back immediately. No matter what her adoptive family wanted, as long as he could afford it, he would give it to them.

As long as she could come back.

Then he could finally give an explanation to his wife, who had died young.

Thomas forced down his excitement. His hand reached the doorknob of the study. The moment he opened it, he was stopped.

Lawrence seemed to have predicted what he was going to do.

He stood outside the study holding a sharp knife tightly in one hand. His voice was gentle.

“Dad, I think I already said you can’t disturb her.”

His eyes were hollow, like two bottomless dry wells.

There was none of the liveliness that should have belonged to a child.

Thomas stopped in place.

He looked down at his son, who only reached his waist, and at the sharp knife in his hand.

His brows drew together deeply.

“Do you think pointing that knife at me will do anything?” Thomas frowned, his voice carrying a trace of disdain.

It was not that he looked down on the boy.

No matter how smart Lawrence was, he was still just a child without the strength to fight back.

Lawrence did not argue. Instead, he smiled and lightly pressed the blade against his own face. “What about this, Dad?”

The edge rested against his pale skin and sank in slightly, leaving a line of blood.

Thomas’s pupils suddenly contracted.

“In your eyes, maybe I don’t have the strength or right to stop you, and I’m far too cowardly to kill myself. But there’s one thing the psychologist already confirmed. I have self-destructive tendencies.”

Lawrence cut him off, his tone calm as if stating a simple fact.

He truly did not care about himself. Seeing Thomas’s expression turn ugly, he even smiled in a good mood and pushed the knife deeper.

Blood seeped from the wound and slowly ran down his pale cheek. The cut grew deeper and uglier.

It was shocking to look at.

“Lawrence!”

Thomas’s voice suddenly rose, filled with panic and fury he had never shown before.

He instinctively stepped forward, wanting to snatch the knife away, but Lawrence merely shifted slightly and avoided him.

Thomas froze where he stood.

To be fair, he was a selfish man.

Businessmen were heartless.

After decades in the world of money and status, if it had been anyone else, even if they died right in front of him, he would not have blinked.

But at that moment, faced with his own son’s blood-covered face, Thomas could not remain unmoved.

“I won’t go find her.” He practically ground the words out through clenched teeth, every syllable forced through the gaps. “Put the knife down first. I’ll have someone treat your wound.”
