Breaking Away from My Mafia Consigliere 7

Chapter 7

The phone slipped from his hand.

After that, he didn’t hear a single word his assistant said.

Samantha had never gone to the suburban house.

Then where had she been?

Two weeks. Not a single word from her.

That night at the club-her face covered in blood-his heartbeat spiked.

He grabbed Sophie by the collar.

“You said she was faking it. Said it was blood packs. Are you sure?”

Sophie’s face drained pale.

She nodded, stammering. “Of course. She was faking it. It was all fake blood.”

“No.”

It hit him.

“That night she was wearing a tight dress. There was nowhere to hide anything.”

His legs gave out. He collapsed to the floor.

He slapped Sophie hard. “You better pray she’s still alive.”

He didn’t remember how many red lights he ran.

The black Bentley screeched to a stop outside the suburban house. His assistant was already there, pale as a ghost.

‘Mr. Carter… I found everything. You should prepare yourself.”

Two men were dragged over and forced to their knees.

“Mr. Carter-it wasn’t us. Ms. Hale contacted us. She said she was Mrs. Carter. Said Samantha was a thief-your enemy-

told us to teach her a lesson. Said not to hold back. That’s why we put her in the worst cell.”

Elias’s face turned ashen.

But the truth was worse.

His assistant handed him surveillance footage, expression grim.

‘Mr Carter, this was taken outside the restroom that night.”

In the video, I never insulted Sophie. Never threatened her parents.

But Sophie slapped me, screamed at me, threw every filthy insult she could think of.

Then she fell. Turned herself into the victim. Pushed all the blame onto me.

The face he saw on screen-twisted, ugly, vicious-was nothing like the girl he thought he knew.

And he had believed her, thinking she was pure. Innocent.

Because of her, he sent me to that place.

The video came with a hospital report.

“Mr. Carter, this is from the hospital. Samantha was eight weeks pregnant.”

Elias stared at the paper.

A broken, inhuman sound tore out of him.

That night at the club-those dead, hollow eyes-staring at him, full of despair.

He dropped to his knees.

He finally understood.

I wasn’t throwing a tantrum.

I wasn’t trying to teach him a lesson.

I had cut him off.

Cut off his child.

Cut off everything.

Sobs broke out of him.

Grief and regret crashed over him like a wave.

Back at the villa, Sophie was thrown to the floor like trash, bruised and bloodied.

She clawed at his pants, tears and snot running down her face.

‘Honey, I’m sorry. I did it because I love you so much. Please forgive me.”

Samantha’s gone but you still have me Let’s just pretend none of this happened Let me replace her Please’

He looked down at her

He still remembered how I clung to his pants, how he pried my fingers off one by one, and then left me to die

Something cold flashed in his eyes.

He crouched in front of Sophie’s tear-streaked pitiful face.

“You shouldn’t have targeted her.”

“My Samantha is gone. Our child is gone.”

“You can disappear too.”

He kicked her aside and walked out.

Behind him. Sophie screamed, begged-but the guards dragged her away.

At the door, she stopped resisting and shrieked

“Kill me if you want-she’s already dead. You hear me? With that much blood loss, she and that bastard were dead

before they ever made it to a hospital”

“You didn’t believe her. You killed them yourself. You deserve to die alone. No children. No love.”

The door slammed shut.

But her voice echoed in his head like a curse.

After that night, everyone in the city said the same thing-Elias had gone insane.
