Chapter 162 Ransom Game Begins

“We’ve taken your daughter. Think carefully about how much you’re willing to pay. Whether she lives or dies will depend on your sincerity.”

Raymond read the message again, turning the words over in his head. “My daughter?”

He had just stepped off the plane.

His phone had been out of service the whole flight. This was the first thing he saw when the signal came back. He blinked once, calm but alert.

He tried calling Maya, but the call didn’t go through. Then he attempted to trace the number, only to come up empty. Raymond went still for a moment, quietly piecing things together.

He knew how these situations usually played out.

At least for now, the victim was most likely still alive.

In families with money, kids were often scattered across different places. Even if one was taken, the ransom wasn’t always as high as people expected.

Some parents, especially the colder ones, refused to pay without proof the child was still alive.

Raymond quickly sent a reply asking for the location. He added that he would cooperate and deliver the money without causing trouble.

It didn’t take long for an address to arrive.

A second later, his phone rang. The voice on the other end was clearly altered.

“I’m giving you one hour,” the kidnapper said. “Wire the money. If you’re even a minute late, she loses a finger.”

Raymond’s eyes narrowed slightly.

For all his composure, his thoughts wavered for just a second.

Deep down, he didn’t believe the hostage was actually his daughter.

First of all, he wasn’t wealthy.

Secondly, he wasn’t well-known.

What kind of kidnapper would go after someone like him?

Still, he wasn’t about to take chances. When he saw that the address was near Harmony International School, he lowered his head and checked the tools in his case with care.

One item after another, steady and precise.

:))

Once he made sure of it, he snapped the case shut, picked it up, and headed straight for the address.

The school’s security room was packed tight.

Rows of students sat on the floor with their hands and feet bound, tape covering their mouths. They were piled together like cargo. Some were shaking uncontrollably, while others were crying in silence. It was a gruesome scene.

As more students were dragged in and tied up, a heavy sense of dread spread through the room. Everyone heart sank at this.

Annie closed her eyes briefly.

When she opened them again, calm had returned to her eyes.

Leaning closer to Sophia, she whispered, “They didn’t torture us for fun. They’re after money.”

For now, that meant they wouldn’t be hurt.

But what would happen after the money was paid?

These people didn’t seem like the kind who would keep their word. Letting them go would create loose ends, and loose ends meant trouble.

When that time came…

Annie dared not let her thoughts go any further.

There was still one thing she couldn’t make sense of. Why was Alfred unharmed?

Everyone else had been taken as hostages.

Only Alfred had been tied to a tree outside; they simply made sure he couldn’t move.

The kidnappers seemed to think Alfred was in the way. Before leaving, they even spoke to him like adults, giving casual advice, telling him not to struggle; someone would come rescue him once it was over.

Annie clenched her teeth.

What was wrong with these people? Why did these people have double standards?

🙂

Maya made a sudden move and tried to attack Kaia. It didn’t end well.

They took her weapon and tied her up tight. She couldn’t move at all.

Maya quickly gave in and curled up in the corner. She lifted her head a little, bit her lip, and spoke in a small voice. “Sir, are you going to kill us?”

Horus looked down at her.

This kid was interesting.

Just a moment ago, she had knocked someone out with a stun baton. Now she looked weak and scared, like a different person.

“Of course not,” he said gently. “At least, not now.”

He crouched down so they were at eye level.

“I just want to play a little game with you.”

He tied Maya and Kaia together, back to back. Neither of them could move.

Then he pulled out his phone, snapped a photo, and sent it to Thomas.

Less than a minute later, messages started pouring in. One after another. Thomas kept asking about the girls, over and over.

Horus watched the messages and smiled.

There were other kids in this school with powerful families-military, political, and all that. But those kids were sharp. They wouldn’t get caught so easily.

Thomas’s daughter was different.

He knew exactly how much Thomas cared about her.

And now, he had both of his daughters in his hands.

Horus had a feeling this ransom was going to be huge.

Luna made the call.

“Both your daughters are with us. Take your time and think carefully about how much they’re worth to you. Call the police, and they die. Go ahead and try. Let’s see whether it’s the cops. getting here first or us killing them first.”

On the other end, Thomas went silent.

He couldn’t gamble on mercy from a lawless criminal.

And with how bold they were, calling the police wouldn’t help. It might put the girls in more danger.
