Chapter 165 Quiet Entry, Deadly Exit

Raymond gave him an unreadable look.

“Is that so?”

The kidnapper didn’t catch the shift in his tone and kept rambling, getting more excited with every word.

“Yeah and this time, one of the targets is a little girl with a serious background!”

He didn’t bother hiding anything. “Her dad is the richest man. He’s willing to pay five billion to get her back. We’ve hit the jackpot this time.”

The grin on his face wouldn’t fade.

Five billion.

Compared to other kid, none of them even came close.

As expected of Thomas’s daughter.

Raymond listened in silence and only spoke once the man was done.

“Do you know where the others are right now?”

“Oh, right!” The kidnapper slapped his forehead, suddenly remembering. “We forgot to tell you. Horus and the rest are in the school’s control room. If you want to join them, I can let the others know and clear the way for you.”

Raymond smiled faintly. “Sounds good.”

Horus used to be one of his men.

They had worked together for eight years. During that time, Raymond had never once lost his temper in front of anyone. He was known as a calm, easygoing boss-something everyone agreed on.

Anyone can keep up an act for a year or two. But to hold it for eight years without slipping- that’s not an act. That’s just who you are.

And people like that are easy to overlook.

Raymond liked being underestimated.

If anything, he preferred it when people didn’t pay attention to him.

Before making a move, he always stayed quiet.

“I’ll tell them to let you through,” the kidnapper said, picking up his walkie-talkie and passing along the message.

The moment he finished and turned around, completely off guard, Raymond pulled the trigger.

No warning. No hesitation.

He talked too much.

A sharp bang echoed through the room.

The man dropped to the ground all of sudden. The walkie-talkie slipped from his hand, hitting the floor and crackling faintly.

The other kidnapper froze for a split second before reaching for the gun at his waist.

Too slow.

Another shot rang out.

A clean, precise headshot.

Silence fell at once, thick and heavy.

Raymond lowered his gun and turned back.

Warm light filled the room, casting a soft glow across his face, but there was no emotion in his

eyes.

Behind him, the two kidnappers lay motionless on the ground, their eyes still open.

Jenny started to tremble uncontrollably. Her mind was already slipping. The scream lodged in her throat refused to come out. She finally understood, when fear reached a certain point, a person couldn’t even scream.

Two shots. Two bodies.

Blood spread across the floor, everywhere she looked.

Raymond made no move to comfort her. Instead, he walked toward her and stopped right in front of her.

Jenny instinctively tilted her head up, her eyes full of fear.

His gaze was dark, deeper than the night itself, and far more unsettling.

He noticed she couldn’t even make a sound.

Was she really that afraid of him?

Raymond spoke at last, “I’ve seen you before, kid. You’re Jelly.”

For a brief second, Jenny’s fear eased a little, because of that oddly funny nickname.

Then her tears burst out. “Mr. Clark,” she choked, her voice shaking.

Raymond took two steps back. He realized the kid was expecting him to comfort her.

The next second, she threw herself at him and started crying uncontrollably. “Waaah… M-Mr. Clark…”

“Don’t get tears on my clothes,” Raymond said, pulling her off with a cold look. “They’re expensive.”

He was planning to show them off to his wife and kids later.

Maya always said he looked worn-out, like some corporate slave.

Before coming here, he had gone out of his way to change his style, getting new outfit and new

hair cut.

The stylist overseas had told him that slicking his hair back would make him look sharper.

Jenny froze in fear and instantly stopped crying.

“O-okay,” she sniffed.

“I’m sorry. I got it wrong.” Her words tumbled out in a rush. “I always thought you were kind of weak and fragile…”

Who would’ve guessed he could kill people so easily?

It took only a second or two for him to took out two grown men and he did it quietly.

Maya’s dad was terrifying. Bohoo!

Raymond paused, thinking. “Is that how Maya talks about me at school?”

Jenny shook her head fast. “N-no…”

If she weren’t so scared, she would’ve told him, she had seen it herself.

He got knocked down by Wendy with one slap.

Raymond noticed how uneasy she was.

For Maya’s sake, he softened his tone and comforted Jenny. “Relax,” he said lightly. “I’ve granted them an eternal sleep.”

Jenny had no words.

Did educated man like him calling murdered someone as “eternal sleep”?

She had never seen someone switch sides so smoothly.

One second he was talking calmly, he shot his own people without hesitation the next.

“Did you change your hairstyle?” Jenny asked, trailing behind him.

Raymond didn’t answer. He simply lead the way, heading for the security room.
