Chapter 184 The Tent WarsÂ
Maya and Alfred worked at it for a long time. In the end, they actually got the tent up.Â
It was big. Easily enough space for three adults to sleep inside.Â
For two kids, it felt huge.Â
Toby snorted. “So childish.” But George, the overgrown kid beside him, watched for a few seconds, then dove straight in. “I want to sleep in here too!”Â
The next second, the two kids kicked and shoved him right back out. George sat on the ground, stunned, questioning his life choices for a full two seconds.Â
Toby commented, “Nutcase!”Â
Trying to squeeze into a tent with little kids.Â
George had always been strange. He wasn’t dumb. In fact, he learned fast. He just didn’t understand how society worked. And he never cared to read the room.Â
Alfred was bad at this too, but he never tried to fit in.Â
George didn’t understand, but he still wanted friends.Â
So he often got yelled at, then ran back home, hugging his mom and complaining thatÂ
everyone was mean.Â
What an idiot.Â
Wendy looked at him with soft pity. She didn’t even bother explaining things anymore.Â
Maybe he’d grow out of it and things would get better.Â
Finally, night came.Â
The younger kids were inside the tent, under blankets, watching something on a tablet. George saw his chance and rushed in again.Â
Maya turned her head and looked at this stubborn brother. She was honestly impressed.Â
“You-”Â
She tried to push him away, but he pulled her into a tight hug.Â
George easily pinned her in place.Â

He stared into her eyes. His voice was soft but carried a hint of dangerÂ
“Maya, you used to be so careful when you talked to me?Â
And now the dared to hit and kick him?Â
Maya couldn’t move at all. Without hesitation, she opened her mouth and shouted, “Mom”Â
George panicked. He quickly covered her mouth, his voice dropping to a whisper. I’m begging you. Maya. Don’t call her.”Â
He had almost been beaten to death by Wendy today. His body still hurtÂ
Maya struggled a little, clearly annoyed. But she stopped resisting,Â
Later, when it was time to sleep, Alfred lay beside Maya. He turned and glanced at George, who was trying to squeeze closer. Alfred frowned.Â
With a bit of mischief, he tried to shove George away to make more space for himself and hisÂ
sister.Â
But George was way too big. It didn’t work at all. So Alfred gave up on that idea immediately.Â
Instead, he turned over and suddenly yanked the blanket right off George-quick and clean. getting a childish revenge.Â
Then he wrapped it around himself and Maya. He closed his eyes.Â
Time to sleep.Â
George turned his head and saw his blanket gone.Â
These two kids were awful. Just evil.Â
George had stuck to being at home for a few months. The ones who suffered most were the two kids.Â
He wanted to run out and have fun too. But every time, Wendy dragged him back herself and told him to behave like a law-abiding citizen.Â
She even said George should study hard and get a government job one day so she could brag about him to all the relatives.Â
After hearing that, George felt like his soul left his body.Â

He wasn’t the type to dwell on things. After getting shut down by Wendy, he went straight to bother the kids instead.Â
Maya had been so annoyed lately that she looked worn out.Â
Warm sunlight spilled into the dining room. She lay slumped over the table, holding a glass of warm milk. She rubbed her eyes, looking sleepy and drained.Â
“Why does he keep picking on us?” she muttered. “Does he actually like us or something?”Â
Maya didn’t believe that for a second.Â
George felt hollow inside.Â
He seemed friendly with everyone, but at the same time, he didn’t really care about anyone. When something caught his interest, he played with it for a bit, then left.Â
Like a grown stray cat. Calm most of the time, but if you weren’t careful, he might scratch you.Â
Alfred said, “He’s just having fun messing with us.”Â
No one likes being someone else’s entertainment.Â
So both Maya and Alfred stayed on guard around him.Â
George, completely unaware that he was being pushed away, kept trying to get closer to his family.Â
After some time, he came home with gifts. He gave Maya a flashy toy magic wand and handed Alfred a toy armor.Â
Maya slowly lifted her head. She waved the wand in her hand and looked at George. “George?”Â
“Do you like it?” George smiled, eyes shining, like a big dog waiting for praise,Â
Maya said nothing. She lowered her head and pressed the button.Â
The wand lit up in bright, colorful lights. Music started playing.Â
A loud, over-the-top tune filled the dining room.Â
George didn’t even blink. He kept smiling.Â
“Do you like it, sis?”Â
Maya fell silent.Â
