Chapter 267 The Imposter
Julie had only found out the truth two days ago. The father she had worshipped her entire life, the man she thought was a devoted husband, had been leading a double life for years.
Not only did he have another daughter, but she was nearly an adult, hidden away in someone else’s home. Yvonne’s mother was certainly clever. She let another man raise her child while her real father pulled strings from the shadows. It was as calculated as it was shameless.
When Sean had reached out to her two days ago, Julie had been thrilled. But the news he brought was a sledgehammer to her world.
“Your father has a mistress,” Sean had told her flatly. “And a daughter only eight years younger than you. In fact she was the youngest girl in the Xander family. He’s been targeting Waylon to clear a path for her lately. That’s the only reason I caught his scent.”
Julie had gone numb. Her pride, her family, her perfect life. It was all a lie.
She had grabbed Sean’s arm, her voice trembling. “Sean, you have to be wrong. My father would never… there has to be a mistake.”
But she knew better. Sean had no reason to lie to her. If anyone else had said it, she might have laughed it off, but coming from him, it was an undeniable reality.
Sean hadn’t stuck around for the fallout. He had simply brushed her off. “I’m only telling you this so you don’t act surprised when she tries to move into your house. And tell your father this: if he touches Tracy again, I’ll personally dismantle the White family.”
He had walked away, leaving her standing there in a daze.
She couldn’t wrap her head around it. Why was he so obsessed with Tracy? They had grown up together, yet he had never given Julie a second glance, while he was willing to burn down empires for a woman like Tracy.
This was Julie’s first time seeing Yvonne in person. There was a resemblance to her father, certainly, but Yvonne wasn’t even in her league. If she thought she was going to waltz into the White family and take what was Julie’s, she was delusional.
Julie decided it was time to meet her sister face-to-face.
She walked over, lifting her glass in a mocking toast. “Hello. I’m Julie.”
Yvonne scanned her. Julie was draped in a grey, diamond-encrusted gown, her jewelry flashing under the chandeliers. While Yvonne tried to play the part of the poised intellectual, Julie was the real thing. She seemed like an arrogant, high-born socialite.
So this is my sister, Yvonne thought.
She offered a bright smile. If she could get close to the White family, she’d have all the resources she’d ever need. She made sure to keep her posture humble. “I’m Yvonne. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Julie’s lips curled into a sharp smile. “I heard you’re into AI. I have a few technical questions I’ve been stuck

- Do you have a moment?”
“Of course.”
But as they dove into the specifics, Yvonne quickly began to flounder. Julie’s pace was relentless, her questions cutting, and Yvonne found herself struggling just to keep up with the conversation.
While Tracy was talking shop with Felix, Sam joined them.
“Tracy,” Sam said, a grin tugging at his lips. “I just saw Professor Morten shoot Yvonne down. She tried to corner him for advice, and he didn’t even give her the time of day. It was beautiful. Everyone saw it. She looked humiliated.”
Yvonne was her own worst enemy, Sam thought. She carried herself like a world-class expert when, in reality, she barely had a grasp on the basics. Compared to Tracy, she wasn’t even in the same conversation. Yet she spent every waking moment trying to measure herself against her, trapped in a fantasy she’d built for herself.
Felix gave a short laugh. “I’ve dealt with her a few times. She’s arrogant, but she doesn’t have the talent to back it up. Now, a real professional looks like you, Someone who keeps their head down and actually delivers.”
He didn’t bother hiding his admiration for her, which was a sharp contrast to his obvious distaste for Yvonne.
Tracy offered a modest smile. “Stop it, both of you. Besides, I didn’t know Professor Morten was back in Northport. What’s he doing here?”
Her mentor usually spent his time traveling; he rarely bothered with Northport unless something big was happening.
Just then, Professor Morten walked up and gave Tracy a playful rap on the head. “If you wanted to know why I’m here, why didn’t you just ask me? You always keep the bad news to yourself, don’t you? If Waylon hadn’t called me, I wouldn’t have known you were in this much trouble.”
