If this contract fell through, Chandler was finished. He’d be left with absolutely nothing, and he wasn’t about to let that happen.
As everyone watched, Waylon looked at Yvonne like she was an idiot. “Is that what you told them? When exactly did I ever send you an email?”
The weight of Waylon’s stare and his blunt questions immediately drained the confidence out of her.
Just then, Julie walked over. “She never got an email. I’m the one who told her to show up.”
Julie’s goal was simple. She would ruin Yvonne’s reputation so she could never work in this industry again. Yvonne was just an illegitimate daughter, yet she’d had the nerve to blackmail Julie’s father into helping her That move had only made things worse between Julie and Sean, and for that, Yvonne had to pay.
The crowd watched as Julie, dressed in a sharp red outfit, made her way to the stage. Chandler stared at Yvonne, his eyes demanding to know what was going on.
Jared didn’t say much. He knew exactly who Julie was, the White family heiress. She clearly knew Yvonne was her father’s secret child and was moving in to crush her. It hit him then. They had been played. They were never the ones chosen for the contract; they were just pawns in a White family power struggle.
Xander Corp was facing bankruptcy, and they had been used as a stepping stone. Jared felt the walls closing in.
Yvonne forced an awkward smile at Julie. “You’re joking. I got an email from Mr. Waylon. Why would you be the one to tell me?”
In Yvonne’s mind, it didn’t matter if Julie had sent the message. As long as she got the result she wanted, she didn’t think anyone would care about the process.
Julie smiled. “Then show us. Pull up the email right now.”
Yvonne went white.
Waylon didn’t care about their drama. He grabbed the mic to make the announcement. “I’d like to invite the representative of Vector Tech, Tracy, to the stage to sign the contract.”
The room went silent, then erupted in shock. “What? Tracy? How is it her?”
The live stream chat was moving too fast to read.
“Oh my god, what a twist! So glad we backed Tracy. Where are all those Yvonne fans now? Cat got your tongue?”
“No way! This has to be rigged. Our goddess Yvonne wouldn’t lose to Tracy.”
“What do you mean ‘no way? Waylon announced it, and Julie even said Yvonne never got an invite. They crashed the party! Look at Yvonne’s face, she’s a ghost.”
“Don’t be so sure. There’s going to be another twist. Just wait for Tracy to get called out. Then we’ll see.”

Tracy ignored the noise and walked onto the stage. Waylon handed her a pen and the papers.
“Tracy,” he said with a smile, “this should have been signed a long time ago, but things worked out in the end. You earned this. I’m looking forward to working with you.”
As Tracy reached for the papers, Yvonne lunged forward and snatched them. “Mr. Waylon, I don’t accept this! Why does a plagiarist like Tracy get this contract while we’re treated like a joke? If you don’t explain this, no one is going to respect this deal!”

Waylon was fuming. This woman was testing him for the last time. Did she think he was someone she could just push around?
He reached for the documents, his voice cold. “Watch what you say. The whole country is watching this live. Your behavior is being recorded, and it’s going to ruin your career.”
He felt he’d already given her enough warnings, but she still had the nerve to act like this.
Yvonne dodged his hand. “Stop protecting her. I know you two are close, but you can’t just play favorites. It isn’t fair to anyone else.”
She was determined to drag Tracy down with her. She knew this might be her last shot, and even though she was panicking, she refused to lose.
Waylon let out a sharp laugh. “Your idea of fair is just stepping on people to feed your own ego.”
