Chapter 112
“It’s alright, Hattie,” I grimaced. “What are you doing out so late?”
“I was having a hard time falling asleep. I just came back from the kitchen, having made some tea.”
“I see,” I commented. Could Evelyn have been in the kitchens?
“May I ask, sir, is everything alright?” she asked. “Can I be of any assistance?”
Yes, I wanted to shout. Where the hell is my damn Luna?? Had anyone seen where she’d gone when she left the master bedroom?
I rubbed the corners of my tired eyes. “I’m…Looking for Eveyln. A little while ago, she stepped out of our room, and she hadn’t returned. I’m beginning to get worried. My guess is that she got turned around and couldn’t find her way back.”
I should have felt bad lying straight through my teeth.
“I’m sure you’ve already checked all the other spare rooms,” she noted.
“Yes, as usual, they were all locked.”
“Hmm, you don’t think that she would be down in the medical ward, do you?” Hattie’s suggestion sent a whole new wave of agitation through me.
I took a deep breath and masked my fury with a hasty goodnight. I raced down to the medical ward as though that part of the manor was on fire.
My hands gripped the large metal handles of the double doors. I swung them open with fiery vexation, only to quickly stop in my tracks. No more than fifteen feet away was Evelyn. She was curled, fast asleep, on one of the available white cots.
My stomach churned in knots with the unsettling realization of how physically close she was to the room in which all the recovering rogues were. Anything could have happened to her while she was lying there, utterly defenseless.
She’d rather place herself into possible harm rather than bear to be alone with me, I thought darkly.
I wasted no more time and swiftly hooked my arms under the bend of her knees and around her shoulder. I held her firmly to my chest and brought us back to our room.
Of all the emotions that stormed through me, the only one that really stuck out was a deep sense of relief.
With Evelyn still peacefully asleep, I tucked her back beneath the comforter and took my place next to her. Finally, I could get some rest.
“Stubborn woman,” I mumbled.
Bianca’s POV
It was only a matter of time before whatever ridiculous ruse between Kane and that pathetic excuse for a wolf would likely fall apart. Marriage or not, Evelyn wasn’t the rightful Luna of this pack, and she certainly wasn’t the right woman for Kane.
After he’d turned me out of his office earlier, I made sure to keep my ear close to the door to listen in. Evelyn sounded purely manic, and there was no denying the rage building behind Kane’s voice.

A smile stretched across my face. Good. Let them fight, I thought.
Let Kane see just how unsuitable they are for each other. I missed our shared nights terribly. The way his hands used to feel–it was like going through wild withdrawals. I had no doubt that he and Evelyn were still having problems by the time night fell.
That evening, I strategically waited for everyone to head to their rooms before planning to sneak into Kane’s room.
I had no doubt that he needed a bit of release still, and I was more than willing to be there for him.
My heart sank in my chest the moment I opened my door. I could hardly believe my eyes as I saw Kane carrying Evelyn back to his room. I couldn’t believe it.
All I knew was that my hatred toward Evelyn had just climbed to new heights.
