We left the room together. Damien took my hand without saying anything.
“Where are we going?” I asked.

He took me through the main courtyard first.a group of pups were fighing, chasing each other in circles. Damien nodded toward them. “Those are the future of the pack. They train hard but they still get to be kids. That’s important to us despite the fucking war.”
One of the little girls spotted us and waved. “Luna! Alpha!”
I waved back, smiling before I could stop myself. Damien’s hand closed a little more around mine. Heat climbed into my face, and I ducked my head for a second.
He led me past the training fields. Warriors were sparring but they stopped when they saw us. One of them called out, “Good morning, Luna.” I gave a small nod, suddenly aware of myself. Damien didn’t say much, but he stayed right there beside me, his shoulder brushing mine.
We walked further and he pointed out the small garden area. “Some of the omegas grow herbs here. They use them for healing and for cooking. It keeps everyone connected to the land.”
I looked at the neat rows of plants. “It’s actually really pretty.”
He gave a small nod. “It is.”
We kept walking. He showed me the library, the dining hall where everyone ate together, the small playground built for the pups. Every time he explained something, his voice stayed soft. He wasn’t acting like the cold, unreadable Damien I was used to. He looked like someone trying to let me in.
I kept looking at him when he turned away, then quickly looking somewhere else before he could catch me.
“You’re being really nice today,” I said but he said nothing.
I wondered what the hell happened in the short while he was gone but I decided not to push.
We walked for a while longer. He told me stories about the pack’s history, about how they celebrate full moons together, about the younger wolves who look up to him. I listened to every word, and for once my mind wasn’t pulling in ten different directions.
Eventually he led me down a hidden path through the trees. The air got cooler and I heard water. We came out into a clearing and there it was, a pool glowing softly under the sunlight. The water shimmered with a

“What is this?” I asked, stopping at the edge.

He let go of my hand and crouched down, dipping his fingers in the water. “It’s called a werepool. It’s a special pool that werewolves go to. We believe it has good energy. Helps with healing, with calming the wolf inside. Some say it strengthens the bond between mates.”
I stared at the glowing water. “It’s beautiful.”
He stood up and looked at me. “You want to go in?”
I nodded, smiling. “Yeah. I do.”
He took my hand again and we stepped into the pool together. He pulled me closer until we were standing chest to chest in the middle of the glowing pool.
He suddenly kissed me in the pool.
His mouth crashed into mine, I gasped against his lips, my hands flying up to grab his shoulders.
He pulled me closer, one arm tight around my waist, the other sliding up my back.
