Chapter 59
Ellie POV
I woke up warm.
Too warm.
Too… firm?
My eyes snapped open, and for three horrifying seconds I had no idea where I was. Then the world came into focus and all the blood drained from my face.
This… was not my room.
Big windows. Dark stone walls. Weapons mounted like trophies. A stupidly expensive fur throw at the end of the bed with low curtains billowing, and desk that looked right out of a midevil church.
Dominic’s room. I had been here before. But never in this life.
I bolted upright so fast the room spun. Nope. No, no, no. I must still be dreaming. Or dying. Or in hell. Yes, hell was more likely.
“What the-how-why-?! I was at the ball and then…?!”
I patted myself down like a lunatic, praying I was still wearing clothes. I was. Barely. Just my undergarments, someone had taken off my dress and heels, but everything else was… intact.
Oh gods.
Oh gods.
Had I-?
The door opened.
I whipped around and nearly screamed.
Dominic stepped inside lazily, shirtless, holding two mugs of coffee. Steam curled up around him like some Alpha -born halo.
“Morning,” he said casually. “You’re awake.”
I opened my mouth. Nothing came out but a squeak.
He stopped, brows lifting. “Before you freak out-”
“Too late,” I snapped. “I’m ALREADY freaking out, Dominic. Don’t talk to me like we’ve done this before! Why am I in your bed?! What did you-what did we-oh gods
He set his the mug on the table, completely unbothered. “Ellie. Relax. We didn’t have sex.”
My soul came back to my body. “We… didn’t?”
“No.”
His tone was so annoyingly calm it made me want to claw his face off.
“But if it were up to you last night, we would of.”

I glared.
“You were drugged,” he added with a roll of his neck. “Obviously. Hot, bothered. But drugged. You nearly face- planted in the hallway. I carried you here so you wouldn’t choke on your own tongue like an idiot.”
“Right,” I breathed, “thank you for that beautifully compassionate explanation.”
He shrugged. “Just stating facts.”
“Are you? Because I think you’re missing some plot holes.”
“Maybe,” Dominic said with a faint smirk. “But this is good, normal. Feels more like us again. And I wasn’t about to kick you out after my claim. Do you know you snore?”
My jaw dropped. “Dominic, I don’t even remember last night! Nothing about this is ‘us’ or good! Plus, hello! If all you did was carry me why am I nearly naked?!”
He handed me a mug like he was offering peace instead of warfare. “Right, so, a minor misunderstanding.”
I stared. “What kind of-”
“I might have thought you slept with Lucas-”
“I-WHAT-HOW DID-”
He raised a palm. “Hold please. Let me finish digging my a grave.”
I shut my mouth purely out of morbid curiosity.
“So,” he continued with a sip, “I brought you here. Jealous? No, I was-”
“I never said you were—”
“Never was. But, we were making out, and you were crawling all over me”
“I WAS DRUGGED, YOU DUMBASS.” I hissed, but he leaned close to me with that smug grin.
“Can you stop interupting? I’m trying to paint a picture here.”
I felt heat rush to my face as I muttered, “I thought you were digging a grave?”
“Tomato, tomato-same thing. So when I didn’t smell Lucas’s scent, and trust me, I checked everywhere-”
“EVERYWHERE?!”
“Everywhere,” he repeated solemnly. “Plus the scent of drugging, plus the begging-”
“Dominic, get to the point, I swear to the moon-”
“-I paused our…’evening.’ Heroically.” He nodded my way, “You’re welcome.”
I sipped the coffee. Not because I forgave him. But because I needed the emotional support.
“I’m not thanking you for not assaulting me,” I said flatly.
He took a sip himself with a furrowed brow. “Why not?”
“…Do you hear yourself?”
“Yeah,” he said proudly.

I shot him the deepest death glare and he raised a hand, sitting slowly on the bed.
“Kidding,” His voice lowered, slow. “Alll we did was kiss a bit. And you grabbing-”
