Chapter 58

The door opened. Lucas stepped in, unsteady, gripping the frame.

“Ellie?” His voice was rough. “Why are you-what’s going on?”

“I don’t know,” I whispered, clutching my chest. “Something’s wrong. I feel… too hot. Dizzy.”

He crossed to me slowly, like he was fighting the same current.

“Yeah,” he muttered. “I don’t feel good either.”

His hand brushed my shoulder as he sat on the bed.

Heat exploded across my skin. It was fast and addictive, like a spark hitting gasoline.

I gasped.

And God help me… I wanted more.

His brows furrowed. “Hey-hey, easy. Are you okay?”

I shook my head. “I don’t know.”

Then I did something I didn’t understand: I grabbed him and pulled him to me.

He fell onto me, catching his arm on the bed frame above me, our nose inches.

We stared, panting. His hand moved to my cheeks, hot to the touch.

I arched, wanting more, murmuring “Please…”

And for a second, I thought he was leaning in. I close my eyes.

But…his hand pulled away, and I could feel everything in me sour.

“I think you should go,” he said quietly.

“W-what?” I muttered, trying to pull him back to me. “Why?”

“No, Ellie. It’s not you.” He managed a faint, pained smile. “Just… go. Before someone misunderstands, sees us. This…isn’t a good look, and there’s an empty room next to me. Go. It’s safer.”

I bit my lips, hard. He couldn’t stop this…. this ache in my body. Gods. I just…

I stumbled toward the door, dizzy, and burning alive from the inside out.

The hallway tilted as the door shut behind me.

My foot slipped.

And suddenly I collided with something solid. I could barely tell as strong arms caught me before I hit the floor.

“Ellie?” Dominic’s voice snapped sharp. “What the hell-

I lifted my gaze. “Dom?” I whisper.

His face flashed through a mix of emotions, his gaze zig-zagging over me- something fierce and possessive swirling beneath his expression.

“You,” he whispered weakly, though even he didn’t believe it. “You smell like Lucas…did you just…”

He glanced at Lucas’s door, then back to me, a fire growing behind his eyes.

“You… slept with him.”

Huh…?

“What-“I slurred. “No, I-!”

His arm hooked under my knees, lifting me effortlessly. My breath hitched, and my fingers automatically clutched his shoulder. I hated how good he smelled. I wanted to fight it, push him away and tell him off. But his hand on my bare leg burned so good, I almost sighed.

My vision flickered again in heat-pulses as he carried me down the hall. I barely registered doors, lights, turning corners. Then he lowered me onto a soft mattress, his bed I guess.

“Where are we-”

I didn’t get to finish before his lips crashed into mine. I yelped, squirming, but he grabbed my wrists, pinning me in a flurry of sheets.

I fought to push him back, bite, anything. He was being too rough, hurting me even. But as soon as his lips hit me, this heat surged over everything else like a flame. My surprise turned into a moan in his mouth.

He liked that.

“Tell me who you belong to,” he snarled softly, his teeth grazing the curve of my neck. “Say it. I want to hear you say I’m the only one.”

My mouth opened, but I bit my tongue fighting it. Although, I couldn’t stop my legs wrapping around him. I forced him against me, and a low, startled growl left his throat.

“You want more?” His head tilted.

I nodded, desperately pathetic, my hands curling into his shirt. Memories flowed into me from the past, but that felt…nohing like this.

We hadn’t even done anything yet, and this already felt so right. It was nothing like with Lucas, this was real. Burning.

“Please,” I said, trying to pull him into me.

“Say it.”

“I want you,” I near whimpered. “Only you, so just get on with it you, jerk-”

He kissed me again. Hard. His hand wrapping behind my neck squeezing, forcing me to him.

I didn’t fight, leaning into it. His other arm snaked under my waist, lifting me easily into his lap. My hands traced up his muscles, following every wave and curve.

“Fuck,” he said breathy, his head arching. “You’re pushing it Ellie. If you keep-”

My arms wrapped around his thick neck, pulling his lips back to me, my hips pressing into him. He let out this low groan, his hands slipping under my shirt, tracing up the skin on my back.

More.

I wanted more.

I wanted him. My fated mate, only he could calm this burn.
