Chapter 192

Visiting my grandmother is something I definitely need to add to my daily routine. It’s a little past dawn, and know time

woman has always been an early bird However, when I cross the vineyard and catch a glimpse of her in the garden,

myself from getting any closer. She seems to be in a heated argument with Elder Baldr. As usual,

“You’re up and about a little too early for a pregnant Lycan,” Elize comes out of nowhere.

“You were in my kitchen,” I point at her accusingly.

“Yes, well, I am your guard now, your grace,” she smirks.

“They’re here together,” I motion to them.

“Yes, they spend most of their nights together,” she says skeptically, as if being cautious.

“That’s a good thing, right? They’re happy?” Lask. She searches my face and smiles.

“You don’t have an issue with them being together?”

“I have been rooting for them from the very beginning. I think after everything they’ve been through together, they have earned the right to be as happy as they can be.”

“It’s not acceptable,” she says quietly.

“Well, it’s a good thing Ragnar is the King and his father is an Elder on the council,” I shrug, She laughs and reaches out to give my hand a squeeze. “Do you think we should head back?”

“Elder Baldr is due at court in a bit,” she shakes her head. The two of us slowly start to make our way over to them

When we finally reach them, Elder Baldr smiles at me. He stands and offers me his seat.

“Sophia, what a pleasant surprise,” he greets me. “Did you need to get away from hvar and Kaylee?”

“I did not. They’re on break, and it’s very early in the morning. They should still be asleep. Thug hem before taking a sear

“How are you feeling?” he asks.

“Good. No morning sickness. Aimee thinks I won’t be getting any

“Cravings?”

“Chocolate brownies with crunchy peanut butter.” my grandmother answers for me.

How do you know that?” Haugh.

That was Ragnar’s mother’s favorite shack when she was pregnant with her bou

Carrots were her favorite

“That’s what the munt carrots were itaing as the Prosper Flint langhts

“Raghar my grandmother and I say at the same time

“I will leave you ladies to catch up. I have a date with a sewer line petition,” he pats my hand. He turns to look at my grandmother sternly, and she does her best to try to avoid eye contact. “Do think about what I said. I will be waiting for

your answer”

She doesn’t move away when he leans in to press a kiss to her lips. He comes over to me and places his hand over my belly before pressing a kiss to the top of my head. He’s as warm as Ragnar is. When he’s gone, my grandmother pushes her plate

away, done with it. I reach over to take a fruit.

“Is everything okay?” I ask. She shrugs and shakes it off like she doesn’t want to think about it, so I don’t press it.

“To what do I owe this pleasure, my love?” she asks.

“I just really wanted to see you,” I admit. She smiles and waves her hand in the air.

“I am flattered,” she laughs and waits for the table to be cleared. Someone brings me a plate of fruit and some sparkling water. Which is what I’ve been eating for the most part. “I hear you asked Ivar and Kaylee to stay with you. Is she being

polite?”

“Yeah, she’s good. I’ve been testing samples so that Ivar can finally mark her after the full moon next week.”

“That is a brilliant idea. His bite can help with some of the damage in her system,” she nods. “Good job.”

“Did you also hear that Ana is pregnant?” I ask.

“I did not. That is actually very interesting,” she smirks. “I wasn’t aware that Xavier had transitioned.”

“Me either. He came over after we found out, and I believe that he has a ghost affinity,” I take a bite from the watermelon They mixed the fruit in with ice, and it’s making me very happy. Anything ice cold makes me happy.

“What makes you think that?”

“He can’t control it yet. So, his presence fades in and out along with his scent. I was talking to Ragnar about it last night”

“That is a very rare gift. Almost as rare as your own. He has made a very deadly addition to our ranks,” she muses. “It doesn’t surprise me, however. Anastasia is his sire, and she is a very powerful air wielder.”

“I’ve heard. I’ve also seen her snatch the air right out of someone’s lungs,” I admit.

“She can also zap people. It’s kind of funny,” she grins. “I am happy for her. She deserves someone who will rater to her needs. Xavier is a very lucky man to have someone as heartless as she is to love him.”

“I think they’re both fucking crazy,” Haugh. She grins and leans forward to get a better look at me

“You are absolutely glowing,” she smiles, “I also love that you got tanned.”

“That’s what Eliza said,” I say, looking around to find that she’s nowhere in sight

“She’s probably giving orders inside,” she waves it off. “How is furnishing the kapwe conding thing

beautiful and resourceful changes to the plans”

“I wanted something natural for us. Especially since Ragnar wants hella kids,” I admit. “I wanted to talk to you about something very important to me. I don’t trust anyone else with this.”

She looks around and then motions for me to follow. I take my plate, and she reaches for my drink. The two of us head over to her greenhouse. She spins around to face me when the doors are shut.

“You have mischief written all over your face.” she smirks.

“Good. Because that is what I wish to suggest,” I laugh. She claps excitedly and makes her way over to the watering jugs. where she begins to prepare them to feed her babies. “Xavier has connections to the company in New York where Dr Galloway learned her trade.”

She stops and then glances over at me. She sets the herbs she’s using down and lets out a heavy sigh. I set up beside her and spin the contents in the jug to mix them.

“Sophie,” she lets out a heavy sigh.

“I know you think it’s not worth the trouble, considering that I was saved. But what about the girls that weren’t? It could have easily been me.”

She cups my face and lets out a heavy sigh.

“And what do you plan to do with this information?” she asks. “There are dozens of companies like this one that have done far worse to get the results they need. It’s how progress works. It’s not pretty, my love, but sometimes it is

necessary.”

“I want to take it. I want to see what they’re doing, and if they’re as successful as Xavier made it seem, it would benefit us to take it over,” I shrug and lift the water out of the jar.

She smiles when I split it evenly to water the plants she uses this mix on. She takes a deep breath and places her hand on my shoulder.

“What is your real motive here?” she asks.

“I want to destroy any evidence that she ever existed. Her and her stupid bloodline,” I take a deep breath, trying to calm myself. I look up at her, feeling the anger I always feel when I think of her.

What’s wrong?- a groggy voice echoes in my head. -Where are you?-

With my grandmother.- I answer before he tracks me down. I give it two minutes.

“All right,” she sighs. “What’s the plan?”
