The brown wolf backed up slow, whining low, tail tucked between its legs.

Damien didn’t give it a second.

He pounced, huge black body slamming into the smaller one.

Claws ripped fur, teeth snapped, the brown wolf yelped, twisting, but Damien was faster.

He pinned it to the ground in seconds, jaws closing around its throat.

A wet crunch, nlood sprayed dark on the dirt. The wolf went limp. Its body shifte, fur pulling back, bones cracking the other way, until a man lay there instead.

Skinny, scarred, naked, eyes open and blank.

I slapped my hand over my mouth, stomach turning, “oh my God.”

Damien shifted back fast. Bones popped, fur receded, until he stood human again, naked and bloody, chest heaving.

He didn’t look at me, just stared down at the dead man, fists clenched.

“That was a rogue,” he said, voice flat and cold, “poisonous bite. If it gets you, it kills you slow or turns you feral, no cure.”

He finally turned, his eyes locked on me, grey and furious.

He crossed the distance in three steps, grabbed my arms, and slammed me back against a tree trunk.

The rough bark scraped my shoulders. His claws were still out, sharp tips pricking my skin without breaking it.

“What the fuck were you thinking?” he snarled, face inches from mine. “Running off like that? In the middle of the night? Pregnant? You could’ve died, Sienna. The baby could’ve died.”

I felt like it was the first time he’d say baby instead of pup and that made me feel like a real cool that had put my child’s life in danger.

I flinched, tears stinging hot. “I… I just wanted out.”

“Out?” He laughed once, bitter and mean. “You think you can just walk away? I tracked your scent for miles. Miles. Through woods, over rocks, smelling your fear the whole way. Do you know how many rogues are out here? How many would’ve ripped you apart before I got here?”

I shook my head, voice small. “I didn’t know.”

“You didn’t think.” His claws dug in a little harder. “You put yourself in danger. You put

my pup in danger. I had to leave the pack mid-chaos, mid-attack cleanup, just to hunt you down like some runaway. Do you have any idea what that does to me?”

“I’m sorry,” I whispered. Tears spilled over. “I was scared. Everything’s too much. The shifting, the explosions, the heat… I couldn’t breathe.”

He leaned closer, breath hot on my face. “You don’t get to run, if you walk away again, and I swear I’ll chain you to the bed until you understand.”

I sobbed harder, shoulders shaking. “I hate this. I hate how trapped I feel.”

His claws retracted slow. He let go of my arms but stayed close, pinning me with his body instead. “Cry all you want. But you’re coming home. Now.”

I nodded, tears dripping off my chin. “Okay.”

He grabbed my wrist, not gentle, and started pulling me back through the trees. “Move.”

I stumbled after him, crying quiet, wrist throbbing under his grip. The dead rogue stayed behind in the dirt. I didn’t look back.

I noticed it when he turned to grab his clothes from the ground, a black mark snaking up his forearm, ugly and veiny, like ink spilled under the skin.

I gasped, hand flying to my mouth. “You’re hurt.”

He glanced down, flexing his arm once. “It’s nothing, the rogue scratched me when I pounced, clw caught me.”

My stomach dropped. “You said they were poisonous. You said if they bite you…” “It’s a scratch,” he cut in, voice sharp. “Not a bite. Alpha blood burns it out. I’m fine.”

I shook my head fast, stepping closer. “No. No, we have to clean it. You can’t just say that and walk around with poison in you.” My hands hovered over his arm, trembling.” Let me see.”

He exhaled hard through his nose, but he didn’t pull away. “Sienna.”

“Please.” I grabbed his wrist gentle, turning it toward the moonlight. The mark looked worse up close, black lines crawling like roots. “This looks bad. Really bad. What if it’s spreading? What if it gets worse?”

For one second his mouth twitched, almost amused, eyes flicking over my face.

Then the mad came back, jaw tight. “It’s not spreading, stop panicking.”

“I can’t stop panicking!” My voice cracked. “You almost died back there protecting me. Come on, there’s a lake close. I saw it when I was running.”

He stared at me another beat, then sighed. “Fine. Lead the way.”

I tugged his wrist, walking fast through the trees. Branches snagged my torn dress,

but I didn’t care. The lake opened up ahead, water black and still under the moon. I

dropped to my knees at the edge, pulling him down with me.

“Sit,” I said, voice shaky. “Let me wash it.”

He sat on a flat rock, legs spread, completely naked. I tried not to look…tried so hard, but my eyes kept flicking to his massive cock between his thighs, it had to be because was a werewolf, no man should have a dick that enormous.

His chest rose steady, abs tight, thighs thick and dusted with dark hair.

Water lapped at the shore. I swallowed, cheeks hot, and cupped lake water in my hands.

“This is cold,” I warned, splashing it over the mark.

He hissed through his teeth. “I can take cold.”

I kept going, scooping more, letting it run down his arm, washing away dirt and dried blood.

My fingers brushed his skin, I traced the black lines gentle, checking if they moved. They didn’t but my heart still hammered..

“You’re staring.”

I froze, water dripping from my hands. “I’m not.”

“You are.” His voice dropped darker. “Your eyes keep going lower.”

I looked up quick, cheeks burning. “I’m just… making sure it’s clean.”

He leaned forward a little, elbows on knees, so close I felt his breath. “No, it’s not huge because I’m werewolf, i just happen to have a huge dick, even for a werewolf.”

I blushed hard, cheeks on fire, and looked away quick. “How did you even know what I was thinking?”

Damien’s mouth twitched, almost a smirk. “I can hear some of your thoughts. Not all. Just the loud ones.”

My jaw dropped. “That’s not fair! You can’t just listen in like that!”

He shrugged, still sitting on the rock, naked and unbothered. “Werewolves can shut others out of their mind-link. You can’t. Your human brain is too weak to block it. It’s not hard to pick up when you’re screaming inside your head.”

I crossed my arms, mad now. “So I’m just an open book to you? That’s messed up.” He leaned forward a little, eyes locked on mine. “You think too loud. Especially about my dick.”

I groaned, covering my face with both hands. “It’s not my fault you’re naked! Put some clothes on or something!”

“Werewolves don’t care about nakedness the way humans do,” he said, voice calm but

low. “Clothes rip when we shift. We get used to it. You should too.”

I peeked through my fingers, trying not to stare again. His body was right there, broad shoulders, abs carved, thighs thick, cock still half-hard from earlier.

I swallowed. “Yeah, well, I’m human. I care.”

He reached out sudden, fingers wrapping around my ankle. I flinched hard, jerking back.

“Relax,” he said. “You were limping the whole way here. Let me heal it.”

I stared at his hand, warm and rough on my skin. “Heal it how?”

“Alpha blood speeds things up. It’ll be better by morning.” He tugged gentle.

“But we’re not walking anymore tonight. We’ll stay in the cave so you rest your ankle.”

I opened my mouth to argue. “What if another rogue…”

“They can smell my presence,” he cut in. “No one would dare come close. Not with me

here.”

I bit my lip, still mad but too tired to fight. “Fine. But don’t think this means I’m okay with you reading my mind.”

He stood up, scooping me into his arms bridal style before I could blink. I yelped, arms flying around his neck.

“Damien!”

“Quiet,” he muttered, already walking.

“Save your energy.”

I buried my face in his shoulder, heart racing, cheeks still burning. His skin was warm against mine, arms strong under my back and thighs.

He carried me easy, like I weighed nothing, back through the trees toward the cave.
