I wanted the ground to consume me.

I didn’t know the consequences but it seemed pretty clear Damien didn’t want me being human to get out there.

Damien stepped right between us before Kade could lean any closer, his broad shoulders blocking the scarred alpha completely.

He put one hand on Kade’s chest, not shoving but enough to make him stop.

“What sort of allegations are those?” Damien asked,

He grabbed Kade’s wrist and pulled his hand forward, pressing it flat against my stomach. “Feel my pup. Go on. Would any human be capable of carrying a pup?”

I froze, breath stuck in my throat, feeling Kade’s rough palm through the thin fabric of my dress.

His fingers tensed, then his brows furrowed deeper.

Damien didn’t let go of his wrist yet. “Answer me.

Kade’s jaw worked, eyes flicking down to my belly, then back up to Damien.

He yanked his hand free after a second, stepping back half a pace. “Doesn’t prove shit,” he muttered.

Damien’s eyes narrowed. “Don’t do something like that again, not in my packhouse.”

Kade growled low in his throat, the sound rumbling through the room. “I’m edgy, alright? War’s getting worse, pups are dying, omegas are bleeding out on borders we used to own. It’s only going to spread if we keep pretending everything’s fine just because you knocked up some girl who reeks wrong.”

The other alphas shifted, glances darting

between them. Elias cleared his throat. “Kade, ease up. She’s standing right here.”

“I can see that,” Kade snapped, crossing his arms.

I was stunned by how easy Damien was letting go but I didn’t say a word.

His scar pulled tight when he scowled. “Just saying what everyone’s thinking. Bond snapped too fast. Smell doesn’t match. If she’s not…”

“Enough.” Damien cut him off.

He turned to me for a second, then he looked back at the room. “We will talk about it all. The boders, the losses, the scouts’ reports..ater. For now, let’s welcome my Luna so she feels safe. That’s the bare minimum.”

Rafe nodded quick. “He’s right. Come on, Luna. Ignore the grumpy one. He’s always

like this.”

Elias stepped forward with a small smile. “Seriously, welcome. We’re glad you’re here. Pack’s been waiting for this.”

The third alpha, quiet until now, lifted his glass a little. “To the Luna and to the pup that’ Il shut everyone up.”

I managed a tiny nod, cheeks still hot from earlier.

I wrapped my arms around myself.

My stomach felt weird where Kade had touched it, like the pup was kicking or something, but I wasn’t sure if that was real or just nerves.

Kade stayed silent, staring at the floor now, arms still crossed tight. He didn’t apologize or smile, just grunted once when Damien shot him a look.

Damien put his hand on my lower back and steered me toward the center of the group. “Sit,” he said quietly to me, nodding at the empty chair next to his. “They’re not all assholes.”

I sat, knees pressed together, trying not to look at Kade.

The others started talking again, light stuff, pack gossip, who won the last hunt, keeping it easy.

Rafe cracked a joke about Damien finally smiling for once, and Elias laughed loud enough to fill the awkward silence.

I leaned closer to Damien, my voice barely a whisper so the other alphas wouldn’t hear. “I want to go to my room,” I said, my hands twisting in my lap, nails digging into my palms.

He glanced at me, brows furrowed for a second, then nodded quick. “Go ahead,” he muttered back, his hand brushing my arm light like he was dismissing me but checking too. “I’ll handle this.”

I stood up slow, legs still shaky from the tension, and slipped out the door without looking back.

The hallway felt longer than before, my footsteps echoing soft on the marble as I headed to the room he’d given me. I shut the door behind me and locked it, leaning against the wood for a minute, breath coming out ragged.

“God, what was that,” I mumbled to myself, raking fingers through my hair, pulling at the roots like that would clear my head. Kade’s stare kept replaying, that scarred face sneering, and Damien calling me his breeder like I was just a thing. “Breeder? For real? Like I’m some kind of prize cow or something.”

I paced the room, kicking off my shoes and flopping onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. “And he just lets that dude touch my belly? What the fuck, Damien. You act all

protective but then bam, hand on my stomach like it’s public property.” My voice cracked a little, and I wiped at my eyes, sniffling hard. “This is so messed up. I’m pregnant with some wolf pup, heat making me act like a horny mess, and now everyone’s sniffing me out like I’m hiding something.”

I sat up, hugging my knees to my chest, rocking a bit. “Why me? Marcus cheated, IVF screwed up, and now I’m stuck in this pack house with alphas who think I’m fake. Kade’s probably right, I do smell human because I am one. How long till they all figure it out and tear me apart?”

Sniffling louder now, I buried my face in my knees, tears slipping down my cheeks.” Damien doesn’t even care for real. He just ate me out because of the heat, like it’s a job. ‘Better?’ Like yeah, thanks for the orgasm, now bounce. I feel so used.”

I wiped my nose on my sleeve, sniffling again, trying to stop the tears. “What if the pup’ s not strong enough? What if I can’t do this? I miss my old life, even if it sucked with Marcus. At least no one was growling at me.”

The room felt too quiet, my sniffles the only sound, and I curled up tighter, whispering to myself. “Just breathe, Sienna. You got this. Maybe talk to Linda later, she seems chill. Ask her how to handle all this alpha bullshit.”

I was still in the middle of processing it all when I heard the most deafening explosion.
